God of War: Betrayal is a two-dimensional (2D) side-scrolling action-adventure mobile game released for the Java Platform, Micro Edition on June 20, 2007. Loosely based on Greek mythology, it is the third installment in the God of War series, and the fifth chronologically. The player controls Kratos, who became the new God of War after killing the former, Ares. Kratos is framed for the murder of Argos and pursues the true assassin across Greece, resulting in a confrontation with Olympian messenger Ceryx. The gameplay focuses on combo-based combat and features quick time events that require the player to complete game controller actions in a timed sequence to defeat stronger enemies and bosses. The game also features puzzles and platforming elements. It was praised for maintaining the high standards of the series in its gameplay, art style, and graphics. It received awards for "Wireless Game of the Month" (June 2007) and "Best Platform Game" (wireless) of 2007 from IGN. (Full article...)
