Not used and outdated as all articles are transcluded with the proper league template navbox for the ballparks. The Midwest League became defunct two years ago in 2020. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 22:27, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

Contains just links to countries and territories that are members of the international organization. But no articles to any Secretariat of the Pacific Community. The articles linking the Secretariat's are already on the Pacific Community article. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 21:40, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was delete. As mentioned in the discussion, if a particular WikiProject wants to highlight certain articles, they can incorporate that information into their WikiProject banner template (see for example WPUS50). Primefac (talk) 08:20, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- Template:Model article (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
This banner is pretty much pointless. Every article should be maintained to the highest standards. It's not like we'll take an article from a FA level to a stub level. Gonnym (talk) 15:04, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- Delete Seems to be only used by Wikipedia:WikiProject Higher education, where there is a list of "showcase articles" which vaguely matches the usage of this template. Seems to me to be bypassing the FA, GA system, so I can't really see the point. Have the list maybe, but tagging the articles seems unnecessary. Nigej (talk) 15:37, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- The list of showcase articles is different from GA/FA in that it's taking a small but diverse sample of articles that others should look to when writing/improving other articles in certain areas. For instance, at WP:HED we'd ideally like one or two (but only one or two) showcase articles of a college from every major country. Theoretically, all FAs can be a model, but in practice that won't be true until WP:URFA/2020. And while yes, in an ideal world we'd maintain all articles, showcase articles are particularly important and should be prioritized. The banner indicates that there should be additional caution before e.g. making a major change to that article's structure. With all that said, I don't think this is the most important banner, so we could survive without it, but I wish the nominator had checked with the project using it to understand it before jumping to deletion. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 16:07, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- I suppose the counter-argument is that part of the purpose of things like TfD is to ensure that projects follow policies and guidelines and don't go there own way. Who's decided that these are "showcase articles"? Is there a system like GA/FA? Can't the information be added to the {{WikiProject Higher education}} banner? Also the way it's displayed at the moment might tend to discourage people from making edits. Maybe that's half the point but, if so, I suspect that's not policy. Nigej (talk) 16:41, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- WikiProjects have wide latitude to form systems within their area of interest, so long as they don't go against wider consensuses formed elsewhere; per WP:WikiProject#Function,
WikiProjects often...create lists of tools and templates the project's participants commonly use
. If you want to argue that something is against PAG, the burden is on you to point to the PAG it's violating. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 17:17, 23 January 2022 (UTC)- A WikiProject can create any list they want, this TfD has nothing to do with that. This specifically is about this specific template which does not create that list, but rather places a banner on top of a talk page which, as I've stated, I believe to be redundant as every article should be written well, so asking for a specific article to be written well serves no additional purpose. Gonnym (talk) 18:23, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- In a utopian world, every article would be maintained well. But in reality, we have far fewer editor resources than articles. Knowing that an article is being used as a model might persuade an editor to e.g. add it to their watchlist when they wouldn't have otherwise done so. I'm not sure that actually happens much, which is why I'm somewhat neutral about this. But I think the case to get rid of it would be a lot more compelling once URFA is complete. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 20:30, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- A possible solution might be to simply delete the last sentence. Nigej (talk) 18:27, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- I'd consider that an okay enough outcome. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 20:31, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- If you delete the last sentence then what's left is a template saying this belongs to a Wikiproject. We already have banners for that. Again, this entire template is either redundant or just pointless. Gonnym (talk) 21:11, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- It does slightly more than that, ie that it "is used as an example of a model article". However it's basically no different to these: Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2022 January 16#Template:United States SA that have just been deleted. Nigej (talk) 21:57, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

- Delete as banner cruft. If specific WikiProjects would like to identify model articles, that should be an addition to their WikiProject banners. --Izno (talk) 00:32, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- delete, if I want to know the model articles for a particular project, I would start by checking the main page of that particular project. there are already plenty of banners at the top of the talk pages. Frietjes (talk) 13:59, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
