Template:Infobox college (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

The template has been rendered redundant by Template:Infobox university. Infobox college is being used 342 times while the same count for infobox university stands over 13,000. Moreover, barring a few details, the template offers essentially the same features as infobox university. Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 23:58, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge and redirect to the other infobox template. Though, perhaps it should be called {{infobox tertiary education institute}} with redirects from univ and college names. 65.93.15.213 (talk) 05:14, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge and redirect with a new, more inclusive name. {{Infobox tertiary education institute}} is a touch unwieldy, perhaps {{Infobox college}} is actually the best name? Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 10:19, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment as college and university would remain as redirects, using tertiary education institution seems fine... most transclusions will use one or the other redirect; and no one will be angry about calling their particular establishment as university or college. 65.93.15.213 (talk) 04:47, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
      • AIUI, all universities are colleges; not all colleges are universities. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 14:44, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
        • AFAIK, that is not the case. Universities are full tertiary education, while colleges are partial tertiary education (ie. associate's degree, etc), without full tertiary degrees (ie. recognized bachelors or higher), or are required to partner with an accredited university to offer a degree which has the name of the university instead of the college on it, atleast in my jurisdiction. 65.93.15.213 (talk) 04:58, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
        • Universities and colleges are two quite different beasts in many parts of the world. In Australia, for example, a university offers degrees and postgraduate qualifications, while a college - either a private college or a TAFE - offers exclusively sub-degree courses such as diplomas and certificates. The colleges come under Education and Training in their respective states, while universities come under a Federal department. Orderinchaos 10:29, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
        • Agreed universities and colleges are quite different, but the point is whether or not having two templates is useful where one can satisfy quite efficiently(with maybe minor modifications). For example, a judge is totally different from a president, but we still have a single {{Infobox officeholder}} for them and 51 other professions. I dont see any reason why we cant do that with educational institutions. Maybe we could call it {{infobox educational institution}}.--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 23:30, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
          • Wouldn't such a name cover any type of school, and not just colleges and universities? 65.93.15.213 (talk) 07:26, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
          • We could keep the names and redirect them to single template {{Infobox higher educational institution}} or as you suggested {{Infobox tertiary education institute}}, former seems better considering Higher education v/s Tertiary education. We already have {{Infobox laboratory}} for tertiary/further education beyond postgrad that doesn't come under these two infoboxes. Of course, we could also merge that too to form one single {{Infobox tertiary education institute}}, since infobox lab is being used only 132 times, and is also basically the same as infobox university.--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 21:26, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template:MMA schools (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
Template:MMA Team List (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)

Propose merging Template:MMA schools with Template:MMA Team List.
Both templates seem to contain largely the same list, there is no need to maintain two of them. User<Svick>.Talk(); 17:34, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agree When I created the MMA Schools template, I was unaware of the MMA Team List.--3family6 (talk) 13:08, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
