Join us for a photo walk and historical tour between the San Francisco Art Institute's two historic campuses and help document our cultural heritage monuments, historic structures, and landmarks along the way and share them with the digital commons!

The walk will cover many recognized historic buildings/sites eligible for the Wiki Loves Monuments photo competition, will be led by SFAI's Archivist, Jeff Gunderson together with Katie Hood Morgan and Niki Korth, and will coincide with a full moon! We begin in the courtyard of SFAI's 800 Chestnut Street campus with a short talk by Jeff regarding the history of the building/campus, followed by a brief overview of the Wiki Loves Monuments contest and how to participate.

Then the walk will commence to SFAI's new Fort Mason Campus, with discussion and photo opportunities with the monuments and structures along the way including the Maritime Museum and the rowing clubs in the Aquatic Park Historic District, as Jeff shares stories of how the structures and institutions' histories are interwoven with the history of SFAI and the cultural and civic life of the city.

At the Fort Mason Campus we'll have a short tutorial on uploading images to Wikimedia Commons and submitting to the WLM contest, led by nikikana, co-organizer of the WLM US 2017 contest. Then we disband to enjoy the full moon on the waterfront, and potentially take more night shots around these historic sites.

All people are welcome. No experience necessary, and a smartphone camera is plenty good enough.
