[edit]

hello, how to i create my organization Wikipedia page

[edit]

hii, Am i arulkrishna, i have to tried many times to create our organization related informative wikipage Arulkrishna2096 (talk) 04:47, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arulkrishna2096. Are you aware of Wikipedia:The answer to life, the universe, and everything, Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)? If not, then perhaps you should take a look at those pages. The only way any article about your organization is going to be allowed to be created is if the subject matter clearly is considered to be Wikipedia:Notable; this means that it's clearly the case your organization has received significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources. Furthermore, anyone personally or profressionally associated with the organization in more than a casual way is almost certainly going to be considered to have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and thus shouldn't really be trying to create such an article themselves. Moreover, depending upon the nature of their association, such a person could also be subject to Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure regarding any content created or edited about the organization on Wikipedia. Finally, assuming your edit here on April 11 was just a mistake, then that's OK; just please don't make any more similar edits in the future. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:08, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As well as the links MarchJuly gave you, you may find WP:BOSS an easier and useful read. ColinFine (talk) 09:39, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I need help related to article

[edit]

I'm writing to inquire about the possibility of adding content to the Wikipedia page on Patio Homes Patio home. I have some information that I believe would be valuable to readers, but I'm unsure if it meets the criteria for inclusion. Arti2024 (talk) 08:19, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Arti2004, you should discuss your proposal at the article's talk page. (But if your objective is to promote a business that builds patio homes, just forget it.) Maproom (talk) 08:24, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How to Change the Username?

[edit]

How to change the username in wikipedia? Gobinath (talk) 09:00, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You may change your username by visiting Special:GlobalRenameRequest or WP:CHUS. 331dot (talk) 09:07, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Using Wikipedia offline

[edit]

I download Kiwix to use Wikipedia offline, but I can just search to article, I can’t search to template, portal, category, and Files, how I search for these?.Aro Salar (talk) 11:00, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aro Salar: Try asking at meta:Talk:Kiwix. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 11:52, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They are don’t answer me, what I do? Aro Salar (talk) 20:54, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Only a few hours have passed since you asked there. Wait a week or so. 118.18.141.213 (talk) 21:55, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page archiving

[edit]

Hello. Can anyone help me convert the archives of my talk page to use the Archive 1, Archive 2, etc. system instead of making new really short archives for each month? Thanks, QuicoleJR (talk) 13:28, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that nobody has replied yet. Can someone please tell me how to do this? QuicoleJR (talk) 15:43, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vertalingen

[edit]

Dirk. 178.51.43.204 (talk) 13:29, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Translation: Mistakes are regularly made during translation. Sometimes the translation no longer has anything to do with what one wants to write. For example, 'present' is translated into 'gift'. I don't know who does those translations, but it is sometimes ridiculous. The translation is really literal. Dirk. 57.140.16.57 (talk) 13:43, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Translations of other languages on Wikipedia are sometimes not perfect, but that is true of any translation. Do you have any issues with any specific articles? (note: I used Google Translate to figure out what the IP said) QuicoleJR (talk) 13:35, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're going to have to be more specific than simply saying there are errors in translation somewhere. GMGtalk 13:36, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dirk, we zitten hier op de Engelse wiki, weet je wel--dat geldt ook voor klachten: in het Engels ajb. Over welk artikel heb je het? Drmies (talk) 13:37, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Translating ´present´(today) as ´cadeau´ sounds like French Wikipedia. TSventon (talk) 13:57, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dirk, you could have easily posted this in English, there is nobody in the Netherlands who doesn’t speak it. Mvg, Mathglot (talk) 07:42, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help fix the Olympedia reference for Women's Volleyball 1992 Olympics

[edit]

Can you please correct the Olympedia for the reference of Women's Volleyball for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics? For the Qualifications. 108.21.67.83 (talk) 14:42, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Olympedia has absolutely nothing to do with Wikipedia (they are two among thousands and thousands of separate wikis on the internet). You'll have to ask at Olympedia. ColinFine (talk) 14:48, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think the OP is talking about Volleyball at the 1992 Summer Olympics – Women's tournament and the big red error at #2 in the ref list. 57.140.16.57 (talk) 14:59, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: They are most likely referring to the reference error on that page which is labeled Olympedia. QuicoleJR (talk) 15:16, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Use the correct case in reference names: <ref name="olympedia"> is not the same as <ref name="Olympedia">.
Trappist the monk (talk) 15:21, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done. You had called it "olympedia" in one place and "Olympedia" in another place.
Fixed ColinFine (talk) 15:25, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can I post on behalf of my company? Need help as soon as possible!

[edit]

I want to edit our brand's page which is currently outdated. I tried to already, but wikipedia unpublished my edits saying it was promotional, and they also threatened to ban me. What should I do? 82.167.94.131 (talk) 14:49, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You need to read and comply with WP:PAID. Disclose your connection as outlned there and make edit requests on the talk page. 57.140.16.57 (talk) 15:00, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I assume that you made these edits under an account or different IP. If you have an account, remember to log in. You must make the Terms of Use required paid editing disclosure and read conflict of interest, as well has how to make edit requests. You should make edit requests on the article talk page, detailing changes you feel are needed.
It would be better to think of it not as "your brand's page", but an article about your brand- this may give you a different mindset. I'd lastly suggest that you read WP:BOSS. 331dot (talk) 15:01, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Registering from a blocked URL

[edit]

HI We would like to invite a distinguished scholar and her students from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad to join us as Wikipedian editors. However, the university has a blocked IP account at 2401:4900:1c36:56c:6dec:675b:3ea7:7ab. When they tried to email the administrators, they found they could only email IF they already had an account. This is frustrating. 1) Who can they email when they are blocked from using the university IP address? 2) Why is this IP address blocked until 2026 and can we address this?

Thank you LoveElectronicLiterature (talk) 15:51, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@LoveElectronicLiterature: They can make a request at Wikipedia:Request_an_account. RudolfRed (talk) 16:01, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @LoveElectronicLiterature, My IP address is blocked for my school too by [[User: Materialscientist]] until 2026, I don't know why my IP address is blocked for my school too. But It has to do with Vandalism. I have never done Vandalism as an IP or on my account or on my alt. accounts. Neko Lexi (talk) 22:56, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image sizes on mobile version

[edit]

The problem mentioned at Talk:2024 London mayoral election#Susan Hall’s photo is larger than the others back in January is still there. One candidate picture is much larger than the others when viewed in mobile mode at [1]. They're all the same on the desktop version. I was going to add a screen shot but Wikipedia:Screenshots of Wikipedia is rather daunting, especially for images. I'm using a Motorola g31(w) Android 12 build S3RWDS32.123-29-8-2-5. I understood specifying image sizes was a bad idea to allow the best fit for a wide variety of devices but something needs fixing here. Cavrdg (talk) 16:28, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cavrdg: I have replied on the talk page where this discussion should continue. Bazza 7 (talk) 16:54, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! --Cavrdg (talk) 17:04, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting A User

[edit]

Lately a person who owns a wiki article has been very rude and very threatening against individuals AshFlux (talk) 16:45, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be related to disussion at Talk:James, Earl of Wessex. @AshFlux, no one owns a Wikipedia article, and the place to take behavioral complaints is WP:ANI - but be sure you read and follow all the instructions at the top of that page, and be aware that your own behavior will also come under scrutiny. 57.140.16.57 (talk) 16:59, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no it's not for me! It was my friends account sorry for the Misunderstadning AshFlux (talk) 17:02, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing if no one owns the wiki, how are they banning people and not taking in suggestions? AshFlux (talk) 17:04, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@AshFlux, there are administrators here who deal with inappropriate behavior (and generally clean up messes, that's why we call becoming an admin being "handed a mop"). But they don't own anything. Content issues are worked out by consensus between editors and reference to policies/guidelines, not by admin intervention. Sometimes people will disagree with you and you won't be able to bring them around to your viewpoint. That's just part of life here on Wikipedia. 57.140.16.57 (talk) 17:12, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Saying it like that was very sweet. Your amazing at explaing that.

Heteromeles

[edit]

Working on plant identification cards for my job and came across this page that states, "...these include icaricide compounds which protect the blood-brain barrier...". When I try to research icaricide, it redirects me to Acaricides. Is this correct or is icaricide correct? I appreciate your help in this. Thank you, Gaby 162.191.155.57 (talk) 19:08, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The answer seems to be wikt:icariside according to the reference in Heteromeles. TSventon (talk) 19:27, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting of user page on mobile

[edit]

My user page User:Macrakis formats peculiarly on mobile, with the first header displayed vertically on top of the userbox (screenshot). This was first pointed out to me by @JackkBrown:. I have found a work-around -- add after the userbox, and just before the first header. --Macrakis (talk) 19:56, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Macrakis! Since you edit on mobile, there are other ways you could try the formatting on mobile. I use a PC, so the formatting is different than on mobile. Glad someone could help you out, I don't know much about editing on Mobile ngl. (Ngl=not gonna lie) Neko Lexi (talk) 22:39, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't about editing on mobile. The User page displays correctly on desktop, but not on mobile. --Macrakis (talk) 22:45, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh sorry, I must have misinterpereted that. Neko Lexi (talk) 23:05, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Have you already implemented a fix? Because it looks flawless to me. Mathglot (talk) 07:34, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

cocaine

[edit]

how long does it take for cocaine to go into your system by eating it 2.27.134.177 (talk) 22:20, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP! Your question is not relevant to Wikipedia, but you could look it up or find other sources of media! Neko Lexi (talk) 22:32, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. This page is for questions about editing and using Wikipedia. If the article cocaine doesn't answer your question, then you might get a response at the Reference Desk - but be aware that we are forbidden to give medical advice. I'm not sure whether your question counts as looking for medical advice, but if people there think it does, then they will not give you an answer. ColinFine (talk) 17:00, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Borders

[edit]

Hi! Just a question, how do you add borders to your userpage? I have seen other userpages have borders and I don't know how to put one. Neko Lexi (talk) 22:43, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Have a look at WP:UPDG. I don't know whether it covers this, but seems a good place to start. ColinFine (talk) 17:01, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
