[edit]Inscriptions
[edit]Hi, are inscriptions indicated with italics or with quotation marks? I have always been a bit dubious about inscriptions; the following sentences are inscriptions: "He is buried in the family tomb in the Cimitero Degli Angeli, on the road from Mantua to Cremona. The inscription over the door reads: "Correrai Ancor Più Veloce Per Le Vie Del Cielo" (You will race even faster along the roads of heaven).[42]"; "In Castel d'Ario there is a bronze statue of Nuvolari on a marble plinth inscribed "Nivola – Campione Automobilistico di Tutti Tempi" (Nivola – Champion Driver of All Time); and at the end of Mantua's Via delle Rimembranze, the street where he lived towards the end of his life, is a square that is now called Piazza Nuvolari.[42]". JackkBrown (talk) 02:42, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- JackkBrown, how about the following: He is buried in the family tomb in the Cimitero Degli Angeli, on the road from Mantua to Cremona. The inscription over the door reads: Correrai Ancor Più Veloce Per Le Vie Del Cielo ("You will race even faster along the roads of heaven").[42] -- Hoary (talk) 03:00, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Non-English text should be marked up with one of the lang templates. See MOS:FOREIGN. There is
{{langnf}}
which would work well for this case:The inscription over the door reads: {{langnf|it|Correrai Ancor Più Veloce Per Le Vie Del Cielo|You will race even faster along the roads of heaven}}
- The inscription over the door reads: Correrai Ancor Più Veloce Per Le Vie Del Cielo (Italian for 'You will race even faster along the roads of heaven')

- Yes, well said Trappist the monk. -- Hoary (talk) 08:32, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Trappist the monk: splendid! I corrected the sentence on the "Tazio Nuvolari" page by copying the template text and pasting it in non-visual mode. JackkBrown (talk) 12:15, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Flag of Russian Empire
[edit]Good morning. Here, https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Flag_of_Kazakhstan#/editor/5, the white part of the flag of Russian Empire blends in with the white of the page. JackkBrown (talk) 12:50, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @JackkBrown: Thumbnail images automatically have a light-grey border.
- @Bazza 7: the light-grey border cannot be seen from a mobile device. JackkBrown (talk) 15:27, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- This seems like yet another issue with the mobile version of Wikipedia. These mobile bugs keep piling up it seems. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:42, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- H:PIC suggests adding a 1-pixel border might help but I'm not able to confirm this on my PC. Is this version any better @JackkBrown? Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:57, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Michael D. Turnbull, @JackkBrown: Looking on my Android phone, neither the Wikipedia app nor viewing in a browser's "mobile" version shows any of these three images with a border. Furthermore, the "thumb" version doesn't have the usual surrounding "frame", caption and "enlarge" icon. The "desktop" version in a browser is fine. As you say, it's likely a mobile bug, and not one I'm inclined to spend time on here. Bazza (talk) 16:30, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

German to English Translation
[edit]How do I translate a German article to English? I believe that you need to create an account, change your preferences to Deutsch German and then Save the article to your documents.
Is this correct? JuliePotter (talk) 15:36, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @JuliePotter: No. That's only going to change the interface language into German at the most. You're going to want to check out Wikipedia:Translation for more information. You can, when you become an extended confirmed editor (500 edits on your account that is older than 30 days), use the content translation tool as an aid. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 15:47, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- What you are actually asking is how to create an article in English Wikipedia whose content happens to be based on an article in another Wikipedia. This is not much different from creating any other article in English Wikipedia, and you are responsible for making sure your work meets all the criteria for references, notability etc (the original article may meet these, or it may not, as standards are not the same in different Wikipedias. I believe that German Wikipedia has quite high standards though, so it may do). You must also (according to the terms of the licence) attribute where the material has come from. All this is summarised in WP:Translation, as Tenryuu says. ColinFine (talk) 15:51, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
School Logo and Related Copyright
[edit]So I was interested in uploading the logo of a school and was wondering how I would seeing as I have the logo and it is on their webpage and other social media but I cant seem to find who created it or if it is under any license currently. I was thinking permission from the principal would work but don't know. Please let me know what I should do thanks and have a good day. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 15:50, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @SkyWolf369: Well first, I don't think the principal of the school would have the ability to grant permission to use the logo if it is copyrighted. Second, can you find any sort of copyright notice anywhere on the school page? Usually the image will be under the same one. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:53, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf At the bottom of the page it has a copyright to Pearson. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 15:54, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- That's odd.... Pearson PLC shouldn't own any copyright relating to the school. If you link the website here it would be easier to help you out. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:56, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Its the Pocomoke High School website https://www.pocomokehighschool.org/ SkyTheWolf (Talk) 15:57, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, from my guess, it looks like the school probably requested a website from Pearson, who in turn used Wix.com to create the website. I would say that the school owns the copyright to the logo since I see no evidence that Pearson also created the logo. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:01, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf The school page was created and maintained by the media specialist / librarian at Pocomoke High School from my knowledge. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 16:03, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @SkyWolf369 Since you would be using the logo on the Wikipedia article, you can follow the procedure outlined at WP:LOGO and upload the logo as WP:NONFREE here (not Commons). Carefully follow all the instructions for non-free logos as this one is sufficiently complex to be copyright. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:03, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Michael D. Turnbull Is there a way for me to request permission for them to release the copyright? I was intending to upload it to Commons. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 16:08, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @SkyWolf369 Yes, in principle, but if I were them I wouldn't want to do so since for Commons you need a CC BY SA license, which among other things means anyone can use the logo for any purpose including commercial purposes (provided they acknowledge its source). If you do want to go down that route, you need to look at c:Commons:Email_templates and similar help pages. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:14, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Michael D. Turnbull According to the media specialist it isnt copyrighted which is confusing because the page claims pearson has copyright. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 16:21, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @SkyWolf369: Pearson owns the copyright for the website, but not necessarily the logo. Also, the media specialist might not actually know if it is or isn't copyrighted. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:23, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe get the media specialist to upload the file to Commons? Then it wouldn't be your problem if things went wrong.... However, the safe thing to do is to go down the WP:NONFREE route. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:30, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- I would like to add that if you do go down the NONFREE route, if the image is released under a commons compatible license later it can then be uploaded there. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:31, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Should I ask about them releasing it and if not then upload it as WP:NONFREE or just upload it as Non-Free? SkyTheWolf (Talk) 16:52, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- If you want to go ahead. I don't think it's worth the effort though. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:54, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- @SkyWolf369 There are a lot of pronouns. Ask who about releasing ... the logo, I presume. As mentioned, Pearson likely doesn't own the copyright to the logo, and therefore can't release it. Neither can the principal of the school. I'm not exactly sure what a "media specialist" is. If they work for the school, and (for example) put together audiovisual presentations for use within the school, they probably don't own the copyright either.
- Who have you found who holds the copyright and could choose to release it under Wikipedia's required terms? David10244 (talk) 07:14, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Sky has currently just uploaded under fairuse. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:13, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- Should I ask about them releasing it and if not then upload it as WP:NONFREE or just upload it as Non-Free? SkyTheWolf (Talk) 16:52, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Updation of Box office number of RRR movie.
[edit]Updation of Box office number of RRR movie. At present as per Wiki, it is showing BO: 1,200−1,258 crore. The movie was released in Japan and it has added 80+ crores (RRR is still running in theaters). So BO need to be updated as 1,280 −1,338 crore (Adding 80 crores to current BO). https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/RRR_(film) https://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/telugu-cinema/rrr-sets-new-record-in-japan-grosses-over-80-crore-as-it-enters-20th-week-of-theatrical-run-101678962257074.html 49.204.137.242 (talk) 16:11, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

How to add a photo of the journal cover to the wikipedia article
[edit]Dear Wikipedia Editors,
I just submitted a draft of an article for publication:
Draft:The Journal of Environmental Education
I tried to upload a photo (the cover of the journal) but I couldn't. Would you be so kind to help me out please? Thank you very much, Alberto Arenas Arenasa2022 (talk) 18:31, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Arenasa2022, firstly, please don't put the same question on multiple pages - your duplicate at the teahouse has been deleted.
As for your question, the cover of a journal will be copyright, so can only be used under a claim of "fair use" which is not applicable to draft articles. Having looked at your draft, I suspect it will be refused again, so I would concentrate on getting that approved, before worrying about the image - Arjayay (talk) 18:38, 16 March 2023 (UTC)- Dear Arjayay, Thank you for your reply. Very kind of you. Arenasa2022 (talk) 18:45, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

- Hello, IP user. I'm afraid I don't understand your question. Please explain further what you are trying to do. If you are trying to insert a link to an external site into a Wikipedia article, please be aware that there are tight restrictions on doing this: see WP:External links. taim Falafel
[edit]Hi there - I work as an employee at taim mediterranean kitchen. Our page has not been edited in a very long time and there are lots of things we'd love to update, such as our logo, how many locations we now have, what we now serve and more. What is the best way about editing many things like this? I believe we tried in the past but the edits were not accepted so we'd love any help. Thank you! Medkitchteam (talk) 22:10, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Medkitchteam. (I see that your account is currently blocked, until you change its name or create a new one).
- As you have a conflict of interest, and in fact are almost certainly classed by Wikipedia as a paid editor, you must make a formal declaration of that fact (see that link). Then you should not edit the article Taim directly, but should instead make edit requests on the the article's talk page.
- But please note that Wikipedia is not interested in what you want to say about your restaurant, but only in what independent sources have reported about it. Your logo can almost certainly be updated, your locations possibly, provided a source unconnected with you writes about them (not just something regurgitating a press release); but what you serve is not encyclopaedic unless an independent source, unprompted by you, has written about it.
