[edit]Weird behavior when using help desk question form
[edit]Hi! When replying to a reply on the science help desk using the new skin, many times after typing punctuation -- ARG it's happening now -- I can't type colons or braces or any shifted number keys without the characters showing up at the start of the line. Also capitals. If I newline, then type the offending chars, then del the newline, that works.
I switched from Vector 2022 to 2010. That didn't help.
Firefox on linux mint. Weird! Saintrain (talk) 00:04, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Saintrain: Won't really be able to help you out here, but is this when you're using the Reply tool or you're just editing in source mode? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 05:43, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Saintrain, some other folks have mentioned problems with the cursor jumping around; the latest report at VPT seems to be this one. It has some phabricator tickets attached. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 18:35, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Saintrain: If you login from a different browser or a different computer, do you have the same issue? GoingBatty (talk) 03:18, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- If you have another different keyboard try that.Maungapohatu (talk) 04:58, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @User:Tenryuu Yes it was the Reply tool, but I can't make it happen today.
- The description on VPT (this one)was it exactly.
- [[User:GoingBatty] sameold sameold.
Thanks, Saintrain (talk) 21:39, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Messed up my talk archive
[edit]I had an archive on my talk page and then I made https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:MaskedSinger/Archive_2 But somehow, it's disappeared from https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:MaskedSinger
as well as the original archive - https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:MaskedSinger/Archive_1
Can someone please restore it for me
Thanks! MaskedSinger (talk) 12:39, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- This has been taken care of! :) MaskedSinger (talk) 12:49, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, you had deleted the couple of templates at the top of User talk:MaskedSinger, so I have reinstated them (& tidied up the headers on your 2 archive pages]. - David Biddulph (talk) 12:53, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I really appreciate it! MaskedSinger (talk) 13:01, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Placing Approved Content
[edit]Hi Team , I work for a heritage site and I want to ensure our content is placed on WIKIPEDIA. What's the process and how should I have an access to officially place our content on wikipedia
Thanks, Mostafa 5.194.54.113 (talk) 13:29, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. I'm afraid that Wikipedia is not a place for organizations to tell the world about themselves, you should do that on social media or your website. Wikipedia is interested in what independent reliable sources choose on their own to say about a topic, not what it wants to say about itself. 331dot (talk) 13:32, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- You will need to declare as a paid editor, please read WP:PAID for instructions. This is easier to do with an account, which you may create for yourself, but either way, the Terms of Use require this disclosure. 331dot (talk) 13:37, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- In addition to what the others have replied, note that an article about your site will not belong to you, or be controlled by you, or necessarily say what you want it to say. See PROUD.
- If your purpose is telling the world about your site, in Wikipedia that is called promotion, and is not permitted anywhere in Wikipedia. ColinFine (talk) 15:34, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Reverted Edit
[edit]Hey, so I edited the page Andrew Lee (disambiguation) to include that Andrew Lee (entrepreneur) is the titular crown prince of Korea. I was wondering why my edit got reverted and "did not appear constructive." 167.91.0.225 (talk) 18:59, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe because it's not clearly true? See Andrew Lee (entrepreneur). Maproom (talk) 19:10, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- That fact is in the infobox and within the introduction at the top of the page. 167.91.0.225 (talk) 21:38, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- It says his lineage is speculative. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 21:40, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Still, one of the pretenders to the House of Yi, Yi Seok has named Andrew as his heir. 167.91.0.225 (talk) 21:52, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Your edit [1] was not unconstructive but a lot of vandals add nonsense to Wikipedia and it sounded like such vandalism when the page only called him American internet entrepreneur and software developer. The crown prince claim is mentioned in his biography but editors don't always have time to investigate weird unsourced additions. Disambiguation pages should not have sources so you didn't do it wrong. I have mentioned he is Korean-American.[2] Descriptions should be brief and I didn't want to go into the disputed claim. PrimeHunter (talk) 12:22, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your explanation. I appreciate it. 167.91.0.225 (talk) 16:13, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

How can I correctly upload a magazine cover? I've been taken down twice
[edit]I work for Psychology Today and am trying to upload a more current version of the magazine cover, but both times I've tried it's been taken down due to copyright infringement. I've gotten pretty in the weeds about following the instructions, but I just can't seem to get it right. Can anyone help?Twoods540 (talk) 20:26, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Twoods540 I'm not entirely sure about the upload, but as an employee of PT you are required by the Terms of Use to make a formal paid editing disclosure(click for instructions). 331dot (talk) 20:28, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @331dotWell that's helpful, thank you!Twoods540 (talk) 20:29, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Twoods540: There are two different ways to upload images: upload to this wiki, and upload to Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded to Commons, where they have a clear policy of only allowing 'free' images. I don't know what type of license you said the image had, but it also probably appeared unconvincing. What you want to do is upload to this wiki (locally), and claim fair use ("non-free") for the image, at least initially. Even if you're the publisher. If you want to get into licensing as 'free use', that's probably going to get a lot more complicated (though I could point you in the right direction). You can look at the article's current image for an example of how it should look. Alternatively, look at some other magazine articles. Note that we don't particularly want a constantly refreshing up-to-date version, just a typical example. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:44, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks @Zzuuzz Twoods540 (talk) 21:13, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Why are all my edits not saving?
[edit]I'm trying to edit a draft page that has been rejected once for lack of enough content. I've made hours worth of edits and saved regularly only to have it all disappear. What is going ON? Bostonfan1198 (talk) 20:36, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Bostonfan1198 If you are referring to Draft:King County Medical Society, several of your edits were removed as copyright violations. 331dot (talk) 20:40, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- The draft is written in an highly promotional manner- are you associated with the Society? Certain policies will apply to you if that's the case, depending on the level of association. Wikipedia is uninterested in what any organization considers to be its "mission" or in what it considers to be its own history- a Wikipedia article should summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. 331dot (talk) 20:43, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Help me.
[edit]Jak utworzyć pasek boczny lidera politycznego Kacpffffff (talk) 21:32, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Translation software says this means: "How to create a political leader's sidebar". I assume this is about Andrzej Duda. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 21:36, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

- there's a lot of material for the sidebar, I can provide it. Kacpffffff (talk) 21:47, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Kacpffffff, can you explain a little more clearly what you mean by "sidebar"? The article already has an infobox which seems quite comprehensive. Can you give an example of an article which already has a sidebar like the one you want to create? 199.208.172.35 (talk) 21:49, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- there is sidebar footage from the 2020 Polish protests, 2021 Polish-Belarusian crisis, 2019 polish lection Kacpffffff (talk) 21:50, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- the article that is on the right in the article about the current president of mexico AMLO, I wanted to create a sidebar about andrzej duda Kacpffffff (talk) 21:52, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Andrés Manuel López Obrador - I think this is about the series box below the infobox. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 21:54, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Kacpffffff, that box is created by something called a template. Here is a link to the template used in AMLO's article: Template:Andrés Manuel López Obrador series. To make one for Andrzej Duda, you would need to create Template:Andrzej Duda series and fill it in with the appropriate links + code. You can use the AMLO one as an example. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 23:22, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

I uploaded a new version of the screenshot, which was more expository. However, the file description page and The Battle Cats still display the old version. On the upload form, when I try to reupload, it mentions that the new upload is an exact copy of the current. Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 22:03, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Image deletion
[edit]Need assistance in deleting the following image files per Talk Page Talk:Tom Willett and Noticeboard BLP Noticeboard discussions: 1. File:Willett1.jpg and 2. Tomwillett1976.jpg If someone can point me in the right direction to learn how to do this, I would be very grateful. Thanks Maineartists (talk) 23:20, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Maineartists, as far as I can tell, they've already been deleted (you listed the same file twice, but all the uploads from that account have apparently been deleted). See their Commons page - here. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 23:33, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Oh sorry. Thank you for checking and informing me. Maineartists (talk) 23:38, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
