[edit]Wiki Page Name Change
[edit]Hi there, needing assistance to change my musician's artist page. It is currently Made in Paris but needs to change to PARIS or PARIS (AU) as per all her music DSPs, social media etc. Can anyone please assist as it is not giving me "move" permission

- WHY? Opoagency (talk) 00:30, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Did you not read the link? Article titles follow standard English text formatting in the case of trademarks, unless the trademarked spelling is demonstrably the most common usage in sources independent of the owner of the trademark. This applies to artist names as well. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 00:33, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Opoagency, you need to make the mandatory paid editing disclosure, as outlined on your talk page, and use {{request edit}} to make requests on the talk page of the article, rather than adding inappropriate unsourced content. 174.21.23.32 (talk) 01:10, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- WHY? Opoagency (talk) 00:30, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- She may be your musician, but it's Wikipedias article. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:43, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Why does the search in the top paragraph come up with results but the link below the header for searching in mainspace not find the same results? I monitor the category occasionally and it always seemed odd that most of what I found were early in the alphabet, but because I never bothered to remember the lead paragraph, I only just noticed the search link up top. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 02:07, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @IAmChaos: Please be more specific and give an example of a difference. I see three things in this order:
- This search - currently 53 pages
- This PetScan - currently 56 pages (including 3 redirects)
- A list of 200 pages in different namespaces below Pages in category "Pages with disallowed DISPLAYTITLE modifications". There is a "next page" link to more pages (approximately 5,770 total)
- I'm not sure what you refer to with "the search in the top paragraph" and "the link below the header for searching in mainspace". PrimeHunter (talk) 14:29, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- There is a link to an API XML form on the page, that is what I am referring to that is leaving out a number of pages that the two links you provided do not leave out. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 21:22, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @IAmChaos: The API link appeared to show articles among the first 500 pages in the category. That's not very useful when there are so many non-articles. I have changed 500 to 5000 (max allowed) and mentioned that pages may still be missing.[1] It currently finds most articles. The API is meant for programs and has a system for a program to request the next page of results. It's complicated to do this manually. Based on the "miser mode" mention at [2] I don't think there is a good fix. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:09, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

I am not able to edit the initial Wikipedia description. It is clearly incorrect. Can you help or not.
[edit]I am not able to edit the initial Wikipedia description. It is clearly incorrect. Can you help or not. FredBeggs (talk) 05:56, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- FredBeggs, you need to tell us precisely which article that you are talking about. This is your only edit to Wikipedia with this account, si there are no clues in your edit history. Cullen328 (talk) 06:01, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @FredBeggs: Are you complaining about something on Wikipedia proper, or search engine results/knowledge panels? Can you link to the page you're having the issue on? —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 08:24, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Please be specific. You have to tell us several things. At which URL do you see it? Quote the text you call "the initial Wikipedia description" (this could mean different things for many pages). What do you want to change it to? Do you have a published reliable source to support the change? PrimeHunter (talk) 14:13, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Multiple images made same sizes
[edit]Can an expert make the Bank exterior and interior the same height and wide so they match up as the same size in presentation. Thanks.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 12:59, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Done, not by me. Maproom (talk) 13:15, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Irrelevant article might be better to remove
[edit]Bogotá prison riot doesn't look like it's relevant to have its own page. Maybe better to remove it to avoid Wikipedia becoming over saturated with empty articles. Aquatic Ambiance (talk) 13:34, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Aquatic Ambiance: Hi there! I see that all the content of the Bogotá prison riot article is also included in the La Modelo article. If you think the topic doesn't meet WP:NEVENTS, you could request speedy deletion for this newly created article by adding {{Db-event}} to the top of the article. WP:A7 gives more information and other options. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:31, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Add information
[edit]I want to get credit for originating the term "Satanic Panic". The fact that I originated this term is confirmed by the Editor of Skeptical Inquirer in the current July/August Issue of the magazine on the Editor's page. I can send a photo of the Editor's page as evidence. I maily do Email. Sorry, your rules are too complicated for me to follow!!! Please contact me there. Jeff Victor (talk) 16:31, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- The place to discuss improvements to the WP-article Satanic panic is Talk:Satanic panic. Consider making a better argument than "I want to get credit." That said, something like "The term originated in..." doesn't seem like an unreasonable addition, if the source is good. The issue seems partly not-paywalled [3], but perhaps not the part you mentioned (it doesn't have to be, see WP:PAYWALL, but I can't easily verify what you say). How to edit Wikipedia?
[edit]Hi, I could not edit Wikipedia even after creating my login account; I can see it gets edited at the time of editing, but it does not really stay there. In short, changes do not get published or saved. 18.10.11.235 (talk) 17:38, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hello. You are not logged in atm. Your edit from this IP to Daenerys Targaryen was saved, but you were reverted by another editor who gave a reason for that, see here [4]. Fwiw, I agree with their reason. WP:TUTORIAL may be of help to you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:46, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
AfC script
[edit]I just accepted The Apparition Phase to mainspace using the AfC helper script and noticed that the script didn't add an AfC banner to the talk page. Why didn't it get the standard AfC banner? I also entered some WikiProjects when accepting the draft and they weren't automatically added, I had to manually add them after the fact. TipsyElephant (talk) 17:53, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- The help desk is more or less for general questions about Wikipedia, of you are having issues with a script you will have better luck asking the maintainers of that script. According to Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Helper script, the contact point for that script is @Enterprisey:. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:21, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

Warofdreams removed my contribution
[edit]I have an issue that Warofdreams removed my contribution on Chris Keates. The edit made was valid, truthful and in thd public domain. As it was based on a public hearing. It is in the public interest. Why was it removed — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whistling Dragonslayer (talk • contribs) 18:43, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Whistling Dragonslayer, see guidance at WP:BRD. @Warofdreams, you could have bothered with a WP:ES. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:51, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Whistling Dragonslayer, you need to provide inline references to reliable published sources that verify anything contentious and also for all direct quotations. Please read Referencing for beginners. Cullen328 (talk) 20:55, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

I included all material references which were removed by @Warofdreams — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whistling Dragonslayer (talk • contribs) 21:45, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- You listed some sources, but you didn't cite them in the approved way – see the link given above by Cullen328 for how to cite sources. Maproom (talk) 22:01, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
My wikipedia is in greek now
[edit]So the problem is all letters on wikipedia page are replaced with weird Greek letters. Does anybody know what should I do?here is a picture of what it looks like 109.235.221.13 (talk) 19:27, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- That's really weird. Are you sure you don't have some kind of extension translating the page? I can't find a vandalized version like this in the history. weeklyd3 (message me | my contributions) 19:29, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- That's not a translation but faux Greek – every letter of the English text has been replaced with a Greek letter that either looks or sounds similar. Could it be some faux Greek font? --Theurgist (talk) 20:04, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- It is really a transliteration. But I have no idea how to change it Akrylls (talk) 21:07, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- It's a font issue in your browser or operating system. Wikipedia doesn't set a font but displays in the default sans-serif font of your browser. Try changing the browser default. If you don't know how then what is your browser? PrimeHunter (talk) 22:38, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

- You could just try to get used to it :-). At school, sometime in the last millennium, I used to write my Physics class notes transliterated into Greek letters, merely to alleviate boredom. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.195.174.88 (talk) 03:09, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
