Minute Physics article

[edit]

I noticed something strange. While the Minute Physics article is located at Minute Physics, the talk page is at Talk:MinutePhysics. Is this supposed to happen, or is it just a mistake? I am not very active, so as a courtesy, please ping me. Thanks! -322UbnBr2 (Talk | Contributions | Actions) 00:51, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unbinilium-322_Dibromide, the page was moved from Minute Physics to MinutePhysics in 2006 and back to Minute Physics in 2021, but this time the talk page was missed. I've put in a move request to fix this. MB 01:10, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think they should both be stylized as MinutePhysics, unless there's something I'm missing. I started a discussion on the talk page for those interested. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 01:21, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This has to do with the deleted article Harold F. Reichenthal. I wrote that article in its entirety. It has numerous footnotes with my sources. An administrator has deleted it under the false allegation that I copied the text from a cooyrighted source.

  • I copied nothing from the article in question. They copied from a draft of my article I sent them. None of my footnotes are on their site. I am offended that my word is apparently not accepted on this.
  • Even though that site copyrighted their page, that does not give them ownership of my words. I granted them a non-exclusive license to publish my writing. The exact passage is quoted from their site if you go through the history of the communications from this administrator to me.
  • The history of my sandbox page on this article can be consulted here: [1]
  • If this still constitutes a copyright violation, I would appreciate being explained why this is so.

If this is the wrong place to post this, please direct me to the correct place.

deisenbe there is an explanation of what to do on your talk page at User talk:Deisenbe/Archive 12#Copyright problem: Harold F. Reichenthal. If you have questions you could reply to that message. TSventon (talk) 10:20, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We need to have documentation that shows the copyright holder has given permission for the material to be copied to this website. Wikipedia has procedures in place for this purpose. Please see WP:Donating copyrighted materials for an explanation of how to do it. There's a sample permission email at WP:Consent. Once the consent email has been cleared by the Volunteer Response Team the content can be restored. — Diannaa (talk) 12:23, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Deisenbe:Alternatively, Since they asked if they can do anything for you, you can request that the Neptune Society place your copyright licence on your material on their web site. Just send them a formal license under the CC-BY-SA. This appears to be approximately your original intent. A single line on their site that says "copyright 2021 <your name>, licenced under the Creative Commons share alike licence." with a link to the CC-BY-SA license text. -Arch dude (talk) 15:01, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have submitted the consent form referred to above. deisenbe (talk) 11:20, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

citations

[edit]

How can I make citations like [1] (not superscript)? Thanks! Mayfifth (talk) 10:17, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain, Mayfifth, why you want them formatted in an unusual way. If there's no compelling reason, then format them in the regular way. -- Hoary (talk) 11:51, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Mayfifth: - is HELP:REFBEGIN what you are looking for? Mjroots (talk) 16:43, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You can do this.[1] But I can't think why you'd ever want to. Maproom (talk) 18:39, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How to edit the notes section

[edit]

Hello,

I am trying to edit the notes section on Wikipedia's page "List of British Monarchs". The notes section inaccurately states that King George V and Queen Mary were crowned on May 22, 1911, when in fact they were crowned on June 22, 1911. I am having difficulty editing the notes section to fix this inaccuracy. I would appreciate help in resolving this issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MLatt (talkcontribs) 15:53, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@MLatt:  Fixed! In the future, you can click the "Edit source" tab at the top of the article, search the source code for the incorrect text, make the change, and click "Publish changes". Happy editing! (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Need help related to (re) publish an article (now in Draft) to Romanian Wikipedia (previously I have published by mistake) in English Wikipedia ...

[edit]

I am a beginner ... :) I have created a new page in the Romanian language to be posted on Romanian Wikipedia. But (somehow) I have published it into English Wikipedia and someone (Liz) moved it into a draft and nicely suggested translating it in the English language. I've written back about my need but maybe she is busy...

So, I need help to: 1) publish my page into Romanian Wikipedia 2) cancel/delete (become sure) about the (wrong) attempt - toward the English Wikipedia

And right now I have no idea who will do what and when ... I am thinking about making a copy (*.txt) of the script (from the current draft) and creating a new page (with a different name) and publishing into Romanian Wikipedia.

This is the page ... in discussion (in fact exist 3 pages, made at once and all moved by Liz - back in draft): https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Rezerva%C8%9Bia_Natural%C4%83_Complex%C4%83_Snagov

Thank you for your time & kindness, Constantin Turmac

Note: meantime, I (also) search for tutorials etc.

Constantin Turmac (talk) 16:12, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Constantin Turmac: Hi there! You can go to you can go to https://ro.wikipedia.org/ to create an article on the Romanian Wikipedia. To delete Draft:Rezervația Naturală Complexă Snagov, you may add {{Db-author}} to the top of the page. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 16:44, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)@Constantin Turmac: Your idea will work. Use copy/paste to create *.txt files, one for each article. Then, switch to the Romanina Wikipedia, and for each file, hit (the Romanian equivalent of) "create" with the appropriate Romanian article name, then paste the *.txt file, and then hit (the Romanian equivalent of) "publish". Three caveats: 1) We here at the English help desk don't know a lot about the policies and procedures used on the Romanian encyclopedia, which is a separate project. 2) In the strictest interpretation of the rules, you should add an attribution statement on the talk pages of your new Romanian articles that states that they were copied from the English encyclopedia (draft) articles). 3)the Romanian Wikipedia may not have exactly the same template names and categories, so you may need to make some modifications. -Arch dude (talk) 16:46, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox customization

[edit]

Hello, I am a little new to customization of userboxes. The userbox about "Positivity" on my userpage, I see its border around the text incomplete on my phone. How to correct it? Lightbluerain (Talk | contribs) 16:48, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Lightbluerain: Userboxes have a fixed width to line up below eachother. There isn't room for a large image and text. Template:Userbox#Usage says: "image size should normally not exceed 90x45px". PrimeHunter (talk) 17:12, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@HavardHoffmann: You have provided a link to the Norwegian Wikipedia. Here on the English Wikipedia, we already have an article about TikTok. Could you please clarify what you would like to do and where? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 19:16, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
