Pisonet

[edit]

A pisonet is a mini-type internet cafe or computer shop mainly found in the areas of Metro Manila and the Philippines, Originate in brgy 648(Islamic Center). A pisonet is a major hub for internet enthusiasts and children who only have small amount of money to surf and play some games which more contributes demand to this business. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naidz24 (talkcontribs) 00:28, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Naidz24: We can add an article about pisonet if it is notable by our definition: see WP:N. you can demonstrate notability by finding reliable sources, but it is easy to make mistakes: see Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). If you can establish notability, but ony then, proceed to WP:YFA. -Arch dude (talk) 01:13, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jorge Flores

[edit]

Jorge Flores

proposed article content

(Jorge Flores Escalante)

1934-2008

Flores was a painter, muralist and print maker. He was born in Durango, Mexico in 1934.

He joined the National School of Plastic Arts of the Autonomous University of Mexico in 1958. He became a member of the notable Francisco Goitia group of Mexican artists.

In 1973 he collaborated on the Don Quixote in the twentieth century, Polyforum Siqueiros Cultural Center.

He created the mural for the Senate of Mexico’s permanent Exposition at NASA.

Flores became director of the prestigious workshop of David Alfaro Siqueiros, where he worked for more than four years and collaborated on important restoration of works by the master.

Flores was one of many prominent artists who fought for the preservation of the art and architectural landmark, the Casino of the Jungle in Cuernavaca Mexico. The property was bought for development by a multinational company (Costco of Mexico) and eventually destroyed with the condition that a museum would be built to occupy part of the commercial development.

Flores collaborated on the creation of the museum including the moving and restoration of the original murals. Within its buildings and halls were magnificent signed works by these historically renown artists: Josep Renau de la Hispanidad, Jose Reyes Meza, Guillermo Ceniceros, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Jorge Flores, Francisco Icaza and Jorge González Camarena amoung others.

"The RID id AAS-5150-2020 is not valid" (?!) - https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Alexei_Eryomin

[edit]

Dear Alexei,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have just checked this and have tried to fix this for you but it looks like the issue is the change in the ResearcherID sequence.

We have recently changed to from a one letter ResearcherID sequence to a three letter ResearcherID sequence. This is due to the high volume of ResearcherIDs being generated over the year, and there are only so many possible unique combinations.

It looks like Wikipedia/Wikidata is not yet be aware of this change in the ResearcherID sequence and therefore may have not updated their forms to accept the new ResearcherID. We advise you forward this email to the Wikipedia/Wikidata to advise them of this change.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to keep in touch.

Kind regards,

Is this directly stated somewhere in Wikipedia's official guidelines?

[edit]

Is the following directly stated, rather than just implied, by English Wikipedia content guidelines: "Wikipedia is not in the business of debunking misconceptions. We report an aggregate of what experts in whatever field report. Even when the received wisdom in some field is obviously one huge misconception, we faithfully report it – but if there are enough counter voices, we report these as well."? I was thinking of proposing this in the policy section of Village Pump because I have seen some long-time users on here having a very different idea of how to determine which type of content should this project contain. StellarHalo (talk) 07:21, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth is "only" an essay, but it is well-received as a proper interpretation of the guideline WP:V, which says [Wikipedia's] content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. If reliable sources disagree, then maintain a neutral point of view and present what the various sources say, giving each side its due weight. how can I start writing article on Wikipedia

[edit]

want to write an article about a company under wikiproject companies. So How can I start writing? can someone suggest me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kratika30 (talkcontribs) 07:41, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kratika30: You can start with WP:YFA. Please note that creating a new article is one of the hardest tasks you can find on Wikipedia.Victor Schmidt (talk) 07:46, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Kratika30(ec) Successfully writing a new article is the absolute hardest thing to do on Wikipedia. It takes much time and practice. Diving right into it without at least a basic understanding of the process usually ends with disappointment and hurt feelings as something that you worked hours on is mercilessly edited and deleted by others. I don't want that to happen to you, so I would suggest that instead of starting right with writing a new article, you should first spend much time editing existing articles in areas that interest you, to get a feel for how Wikipedia works and what is expected of article content. You should also use the new user tutorial.
However, if you still want to attempt to create a new article right away, you should read Your First Article, and then visit Articles for Creation to create and submit a draft for review by another editor before it is formally placed in the encyclopedia, so you find out any problems first instead of afterwards when it will be treated more critically.
If you work for or are associated with the company you wish to write about, you must review and formally comply with the conflict of interest and paid editing policies. The latter is a Terms of Use requirement if you receive any compensation(not just money) for your edits. You may also want to become familiar with the Wikipedia definition of a notable company to see if the company you want to write about actually merits a Wikipedia article- not every company does, even within a particular field. 331dot (talk) 07:48, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Need some help with AWB

[edit]

Okay, so I recently ran into some compatibility trouble with AWB, so I asked for some help on its talk page, however I just realized how hilariously inactive that page is, and figured maybe this page is on a few people's watchlists. Can anyone check out my initial question? GN-z11 13:36, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If a kind soul could look this over, my PROD is showing raw links; I guess it's a spare [ / ] somewhere, but for the life of me I can't see it! Thanks in advance  :) ——Serial 13:59, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed, Serial Number 54129. You needed to %-encode the " characters in the URLs. See WP:ENCODE. --ColinFine (talk) 14:26, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: Ah I see: so because it wasn't in code it was identified as being part of my decriptive txt? Thanks very much for sorting it, I'll (try to!) remember that in future. Cheers, ——Serial 17:42, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Здравствуйте,Maru1286. No editor (we do not have "moderators") has undone your edits to Dato Khujadze. A bot removed many inappropriate links that you added {see ELNO): I see you have added them back again. English Wikipedia is not interested in anything published on user-generated sources like Twitter or Facebook, or anything said or published by the subject or their associates: it is only interested in what independent commentators have published about the subject. At the moment the article cites no reliable references, and therefore does nothing to establish that Khujadze meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability. The article is therefore quite likely to be deleted, and adding more irrelevant links will not help. What is needed is citations to reliable independent sources. Since all your edits are to this one article, I ask, do you have a connection with Khujadze? If so, you need to read about editing with a conflict of interest; and if you are doing this in the course of your work, or you are in any way paid for editing, then you must make a declaration of paid editing. --ColinFine (talk) 15:22, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Maru1286: On the English Wikipedia, we need a few high-quality sources to establish notability. Adding a lot of non-qualifying sources does not help, and in fact can hinder this process. See Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). Note that those other sources may or may not be appropriate for other uses, but they do not help establish notability. -Arch dude (talk) 19:19, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi how do i switch to my language in afrikaans

[edit]

There isn't afrikaans at all in the list of different languages — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.114.151.216 (talk) 15:34, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Only an English Wikipedia article for which a corresponding article exists in Afrikaans Wikipedia will include an "Afrikaans" entry under "languages" in the left-hand sidebar. If you just want to go to the Afrikaans WP itself, you can find the main page here. Deor (talk) 16:04, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(ec)From the bottom of our English Wikipedia main page there is a link to the Complete list of Wikipedias. Afrikaans is in the list. In addition, any article in the English c that has an equivalent article in Afrikaans will have a link in the list in the left-hand column on the desktop version. If all else fails, remember the language code (af) and construct the appropriate URL and go to it that way: https://af.wikipedia.org -Arch dude (talk) 16:08, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Something happened on the mobile version of the page, where I can only see "history" and "tallest buildings" sections. All the sub sections in " tallest buildings" aren't easily expandable like on other pages. CTF83! 15:42, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The help desk mostly deals with general editing issues, it's unlikely this is the right place to get an answer to this query, I would suggest posting at WP:VPT instead. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:46, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to upload a logo to replace an outdated one currently on an organization's page. I think I have to use the upload page on wikipedia to do so. @BostonMAUser93: You are right that it has to be uploaded to the English Wikipedia (assuming it's copyrighted), but you don't have permission because your account isn't autoconfirmed. Is it [1] you want uploaded for Mass General Brigham? PrimeHunter (talk) 17:54, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

yes — Preceding unsigned comment added by BostonMAUser93 (talkcontribs) 18:45, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@BostonMAUser93: I have uploaded it as File:Mass General Brigham logo.svg and added it to Mass General Brigham. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:10, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to edit the reference of T&T Superamrket? There is nothing when I clicked edit.

[edit]

For T&T supermarkets, they updated the website, which I would like to update the link in reference. It should be www.tntsupermarket.com instead of www.tnt-supermarket.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tnt6311 (talkcontribs) 23:34, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tnt6311: The address shown in the infobox at T & T Supermarket was updated on 1 April 2020. If you are seeing the other address somewhere else, like Google, you will need to contact them (though I doubt it will do any good – their systems update periodically on their own). If you were talking about the two cites to the old site, I've updated them with the archived site information (and combined them). —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 05:25, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@AlanM1: Thank you very much for updating the archived site information. Is it possible to remove or update the cite reference #6. It is still using the old website link, it should be updated to www.tntsupermarket.com

Thank You — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tnt6311 (talkcontribs) 17:08, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tnt6311: What is the full URL that should be used? I don't see a page that lists all their locations. Thanks!
