Approval of article

[edit]

Hi there,

Yesterday I wrote an article on Emotional Marketing and I want to know when it will get approved. Please help me as I am a new contributor to Wikipedia. Your positive response will be highly appreciated. Below is the link to my article.

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Draft:Emotional_Marketing&oldid=903234670 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omer Canon (talkcontribs) 05:22, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I am unable to MOVE the page to move it into the Main (article) namespace, as the MOVE option is not showing up. Please help me in this matter too.

Regards Omer Canon

Omer Canon (talk) 05:31, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The draft reads like publicity material. Are you connected in some way with the topic, or have you copied publicity material? The draft needs to be rewritten in an encyclopaedic tone before it is suitable to be submitted for review. For example, an encyclopaedia does not use the words "we", "our" and "your". I've removed the first two unnecessary boldings. Please remove the remainder. Essays have conclusions; encyclopaedia articles don't. Dbfirs 06:26, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have made the suggested changes int eh article. No, I am not associated with any promotional content nor I copied it from anywhere. Please go through the changes. As I already mentioned that I am a new contributor so need your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omer Canon (talkcontribs) 07:51, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Omer Canon, generally it is advisable to practice editing existing articles before attempting writing a complete article. If you want to improve your article, there is helpful advice in WP:FIRSTARTICLE.TSventon (talk) 09:15, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The draft article is now more encyclopaedic in tone, but there is further bolding to be removed. I note that we already have an article Emotional branding and I wonder if there is a large overlap in the topics. Dbfirs 17:49, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Emails

[edit]

I am an editor of Wikipedia. My preferences show that I wish to be notified by email of changes to articles on my watchlist (and other things) and up until yesterday or maybe the weekend this has worked well. However those emails have now stopped. I have been told that my email needs to be confirmed and I have pressed the button to ask for a code to be sent to me to do this. However I have not received this code. I have asked my internet provider(talk talk) who also provide the email service for help without much success so far. It so happens that they appear to have revamped their service in some way this weekend. Can you assist? Please note I am pretty much technically illiterate Spinney Hill (talk) 08:43, 25 June 2019 (UTC) Spinney Hill (talk) 08:45, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Spinney Hill: I'm not sure what has happened here, most likely a problem not to do with Wikipedia, so there isn't much anyone here can do. My only suggestion is to create another email (maybe on Gmail, I find Gmail to be reliable) and to go through the process of linking an email with your Wikipedia account again and see if that works. Best wishes, Willbb234 (talk) 12:07, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All created articles Comment

[edit]

Hi, I was wondering if there was a way to generate a list of all created articles on xtools (or otherwise.) My current list only shows the previous 50 created mainspace articles. Is there a way to expand this, or show this info another way? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 10:08, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see a link "153 others" after the 50 at your link. You can also click "Articles created" at the bottom of Special:Contributions/Lee_Vilenski. PrimeHunter (talk) 10:31, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, for whatever reason in the past I've always been stuck at 50, with the grayed out link. Works fine now, odd. Thanks. That's a big help. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 10:55, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Lee Vilenski, another option is to go to your contributions and tick the "Only show edits that are page creations" box. You have the option of viewing up to 500 edits on a single page, or by tweaking the URL you can increase it even more. (If I show the last 500 I created, the URL is https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?limit=500&title=Special%3AContributions&contribs=user&target=Nyttend&namespace=&tagfilter=&newOnly=1&start=&end= Just change the "limit=500" to anything as big as "limit=5000", although a massive number will load more slowly.) And of course you can always depend on it working if you're able to get to Special:MyContributions, while the other tool might not work as well; it's just sitting there loading when I click it for myself, even though limit=5000 loaded rather quickly. Pending changes

[edit]

Helped
I would like to use this script when reviewing pending changes. However, when I see the pending changes, it only shows the diff, not the article with the changes implemented. Can an editor edit the my script so that it shows both the diff and article with the changes implemented? I don't know how to do it myself so I am asking for help. I already asked at WP:VPT and asked DannyS712 on his talk page, but seems unwilling to help me. Can you find someone that is willing to help me? Interstellarity T 🌟 10:59, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copy the script, (I don't see where you've saved it to your user space), and about 40 lines down, change in your version the 1 to a 0:
  if(pendch_diffonly == null) {
  pendch_diffonly = 1;   <---This number to 0
 }

Orville1974talk 11:32, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Orville1974, I saved it here. I don't where to put it. Can you do it for me? Interstellarity T 🌟 11:55, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Even easier, than the change above. At the 7th line down, change var pendch_diffonly; to var pendch_diffonly=0;
I'll give more details on your talk page (too technical for this help desk). Orville1974talk 12:09, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Orville1974, Thank you. That helps a lot. Interstellarity T 🌟 12:55, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I need help with a wikipedia article im making and its not groudon

[edit]

So i need help with a wikipedia article im making about the pokemon solgaleo and i only need one person to help me and if you wanna help me you gotta be good at referencing when it comes to editing so if you wanna help me message me on my talk page. Who wants to help? (GlitchyGlitchytalk 13:32, 25 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Hi @Glitchy: It may be a different Pokemon, but I'll share the same advice: Before you start, please take a look at this draft article on Porygon and its related talk page. Reviewing those will give you a better understanding of how difficult it can be to write an article about an individual Pokemon species. Even with all of the work and effort put into it, the article has still not met the requirements to be published in the mainspace (and most likely never will, because the subject of the article, Porygons, do not meet the the notability guidelines). Determining if Solgaleo meet Wikipedia notability standards should be the first step in your research, before you spend a lot of time writing the article. Orville1974talk 13:38, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Glitchy: I would add that while other editors are willing to offer their advice and assistance, they aren't going to do your work for you forever. If you intend to write a lot of articles(leaving aside the valid points raised by Orville1974), you would be better off to learn how to reference yourself so you don't have to rely on others. I get the sense that you might be a youth (do NOT tell me your age); you may want to read WP:YOUNG for more information. Have you used the new user tutorial? 331dot (talk) 13:43, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Captain Yoshi: I thought you were a different editor based on your updated signature. It may be a different Pokemon, but my advice is the same as last time: Before you start, please take a look at this draft article on Porygon and its related talk page. Orville1974talk 13:49, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to change my username to glitchy also i know how to reference while editing its just like impossible to do it on a nintendo 3DS. (GlitchyGlitchytalk 14:05, 25 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

And yes I did read the new user tutorial I read that either two days ago or yesterday I also learned how to use wiki markup yesterday. (GlitchyGlitchytalk 14:16, 25 June 2019 (UTC))[reply]

Then my suggestion would be that you not use a Nintendo 3DS to edit. You have to be able to adequately participate here regardless of your means of access to the internet. 331dot (talk) 14:25, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Alerts and Notices

[edit]

What is difference between as if I received a Alert or a Notice? What is the meaning?K02VZ5d02y832ZN (talk) 14:39, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@K02VZ5d02y832ZN: I do not know. The two words seem to each have multiple meanings in informal Wikipedia usage, and some of the meanings overlap. Please see Help:Notifications. You see "Alerts" when you click the bell icon at the top on a desktop view. Where are you seeing the "Notice"? -Arch dude (talk) 14:55, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
On my talk page the notice icon is just to the right of the alert "bell" icon. - FlightTime (open channel) 14:58, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • 'Alerts' tend to be (from my experience) when an edit is reverted or someone mentions you in a discussion (pings). Notices seem mainly to be 'thank yous' for edits made. Eagleash (talk) 15:42, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@K02VZ5d02y832ZN: {{ping}} and all of its many aliases invoke a Lua module that causes the Wikimedia software to add an "Alert" message. Various other magical Wikimedia thingees including the "thank" link to a user cause the Wikimedia software to add a "Notification" message. I have no idea where the heck this stuff documented. -Arch dude (talk) 17:30, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if this is universal, but I also get something similar to a thanks for pages I've created being linked by other users. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 17:43, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Common Spirit

Hi, I'm trying to undo a redirect to our organization's page and create a separate article page for CommonSpirit Health. It appears someone created a redirect therefore I'm unable to start a brand new page with new content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CommonspiritBrand (talkcontribs) 17:50, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

changing a company page as an employee?

[edit]

https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Quantum_Corporation

I'd like to make the following changes, but want to make sure how to do this all correctly (being that I'm an employee of the company) because I don't wan't the changes to be reverted.

I'd like to make the following changes:

Currently: Quantum Corporation is a manufacturer of data storage devices and systems, including tape drive and disk-based systems. The company's headquarters is in San Jose, California. From its founding in 1980 until 2001, it was also a major disk storage manufacturer (usually second-place in market share behind Seagate), and was based in Milpitas, California. Quantum sold its hard disk drive business to Maxtor in 2001 and now focuses on integrated storage systems.

Suggested: Quantum Corporation provides integrated storage technology and services designed to enable customers to capture, create and share digital content. Quantum’s storage platforms are used to preserve and protect high-resolution video, imagery, industrial IoT and other types of unstructured data. The company’s headquarters is in San Jose, California.

From its founding in 1980 until 2001, it was also a major disk storage manufacturer (usually second-place in market share behind Seagate), and was based in Milpitas, California. Quantum sold its hard disk drive business to Maxtor in 2001 and now focuses on integrated storage systems.

I’m also suggesting that we add a notation about securing financing, preceding the delisting item:

2018 - Quantum Corp. announced the successful completion of a refinance of its current debt facilities.

what is the best way to initiate this changes? How do I properly express my employment at Quantum in order to follow Wiki's best practices? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Picard091488 (talkcontribs) 18:03, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Picard091488: This request needs to be made on the article's talk page using {{Request edit}} edit request template. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:09, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Picard091488: This page WP:UPE will also explain how to disclose your relationship with Quantum Corporation. Orville1974talk 18:12, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Page Missing

[edit]

I work with an individual who had a wikipedia page, but it has sense been lost or removed. Is there any way to find out what happened to the previous page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.111.19.34 (talk) 19:31, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP user.That can depend. What was the person's name? It's quite likely they were not notable enough for a Wikipedia page. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:33, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

List of football clubs in England by competitive honours won

[edit]

Please this list is ridiculous. Tottenham hotspurs are not 5th in honours etc. Aston Villa are 5th with 23 major trophys. You cannot add Charity shields and stupid cups etc. It has always been based on the Top tier League Title - (Division One/Premier League), FA Cup, League Cup, European Cup\Champions League\ Cup Winners Cup, Inter Cities Fairs Cup, UEFA Cup, Europa League, European Super Cup, World Club Championship. Never has it been based on other minor trophys such as the Full Members Cup, Charity Shield,etc.

This page MUST have been edited by a Tottenham Hotspurs fan. Its ridiculous. Its fake new. Please this Wikipedia page is not worth the words that were written.

When you have a problem with the contents of a page, then edit the page to fix it. Do not remove material that is cited to a reliable source, Do cite reliable sources for material you add. If you are not comfortable with editing the article, then make suggestions on the article's talk page in a new section. If nothing happens, then add the magic incantation {{request edit}} to your suggestion on the talk page. If a Hotspurs fan disputes your suggestions or reverts your edits, then follow WP:DISPUTE. Good Luck! -Arch dude (talk) 03:18, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
