[edit]Copyright Pictures Page Ayo Shonaiya
[edit]Hello,
How do I contact a living person for the copyright to use their pictures to edit their page? Is there a standard format letter for them to write me to submit to Wiki? Anytime I edit it gets deleted.
Please advise.
Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tokunbo Alabi (talk • contribs) 01:10, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Should I have removed the warning that this article has no references? Please fix if I was wrong which I think I was sorry 1.136.111.6 (talk) 01:25, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- I've added it back, because the article indeed has no references. Eman235/talk 01:36, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Preview skips to end of article
[edit]Hi,
If I'm editing an article and I click the preview button, the very end of the article and the start of the wikicode are shown. Is there a setting I can change so that the default preview is the beginning of the article? Thank you. David O. Johnson (talk) 02:51, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- @David O. Johnson: Curious, I don't get the same behaviuor - my preview starts at the top of the article. I am using Chrome on Windows 8.1 - what setup are you using (it could make a difference)? If you go to Preferences, select the Edit tab, and scroll down to Preview, which options do you have selected? (In my case, only the middle one, "Show preview before edit box", is selected.) --Gronk Oz (talk) 03:44, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi, Gronk Oz. I am using Firefox 68 on Windows 10. I checked my Preferences and "show preview before edit box" is selected. David O. Johnson (talk) 04:02, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- @David O. Johnson: Do you click on "show preview" (which shows the full preview) or "show changes" (which will generate a Diff between the recent version and the text in the edit box). Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 05:54, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- "Show preview" is what I click on.David O. Johnson (talk) 06:05, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- I have never seen this happen. Does it happen if you log out? Does it happen both the first time you click Show preview and when you click it again on the preview page? Can you scroll to the top off the preview or jump there with the Home key? If you start typing without clicking in the edit area first then do you write there? My typing is ignored until I click the edit area or another input field. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:36, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- It still happens when I log out. It doesn't happen when I click "show preview" a second time. I can still move to the top of the preview with the Home key. I can't write there, since the pointer isn't in the editable area. Thanks. David O. Johnson (talk) 00:21, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Reversions to older version
[edit]I have updated the content on the page of National University of Technology (NUTECH). I have updated it with the latest informational content and sited sufficient references with it. However, wikipedia contributers keep reverting it to an older version which is no more relavent as the institution has gone through many changes and evolved significaltly. I have not included content of promotional nature but only provided current information about NUTECH. Please advise how to stop reversions. I would like to be advised by the learned contributers so that the page is accepted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nutechdirit (talk • contribs) 06:17, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- You say that you "have not included content of promotional nature", but looking at that edit of yours, I see quite a few problems.
It is the first university in Pakistan that specialises in preparing future leaders and skilled workforce for industries
- well, are there any universities who specialize in preparing unskilled workforce? Also, pretty much any business school could claim to be preparing "future leaders". So the whole thing is WP:PUFFERY. Same for the whole of "vision" and "mission" sections.NUSES will generate a turnover of 7000...
does not belong in Wikipedia, because it is a prediction about the future.
- You must understand that Wikipedia articles are deliberately written to be dull, not full of rhetorical flourishes. Imagine some of what you wrote in that edit was copy-pasted on the page of another university: it would not be obviously out of place, which means that the actual content in information is too low. Alexander O'Lachlan
[edit]Please just create a redirect Alexander O'Lachlan to Alex O'Loughlin, former is his birth name or other name. Thanks. --5.43.79.250 (talk) 16:57, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Common edit summary
[edit]In the edit window, under the Edit Summary box, there is a menu from which you can select common edit summaries. Is there a way to customize the choices in this menu? MB 18:45, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Is this on mobile or visual editor? GMGtalk 18:50, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Neither, the Desktop text editor. MB 19:18, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- It may be your browser remembering edit summaries you already used. If you have enabled "Add two new dropdown boxes below the edit summary box with some useful default summaries" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets then it uses MediaWiki:Gadget-defaultsummaries.js. You could make your own version. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:45, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- PrimeHunter, I have that gadget enabled and those are indeed the default edit summaries. I have gone ahead and made my own version and it works great (currently the global gadget is still enabled so I have four boxes instead of two and can choose from either although I may not keep that). I also use browser-remembered text sometimes, but I use different browsers on different devices. With this method, I will have better summaries (with more links) always available (without lots of typing). I highly recommend this to others. Thanks for the help. MB 22:51, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Assessment of an article
[edit]There are articles previously assessed as "stub articles", but their improvement now demands an upgrade in assessment. How do I get someone to rate it based on the quality scale? I've used a "rating predictor" bot, although I feel like it is too generous and don't want to risk doing it myself, if I can. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Portughetti (talk • contribs) 21:17, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Just rate them yourself based on where you believe they fit on the quality scale (at least Stub/Start/C). I believe there might be a handful of WikiProjects that only want project members to rate articles, but almost all WikiProjects have an assessment backlog and assessing whether an article is a Stub, Start, or C class is usually fairly obvious. – Thjarkur (talk) 22:27, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Timeline truncated
[edit]At Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band#Band members there is a timeline that is significantly truncated at the right (it is defined as "Period = from:25/09/1962 till:31/12/1972" but everything after approximately 1/1/1972 is missing). Thryduulf (talk) 21:43, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
105 year old
[edit]i have a friend, Mary Cantway from Homewood, illinois who will be 105 on September 30, 2019...how do i add her — Preceding unsigned comment added by Candyschmidt14 (talk • contribs) 22:28, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Candyschmidt14 Your friend will need to have significant coverage in independent reliable sources in order to merit an article here. Has she been written about in the news? 331dot (talk) 22:32, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Being 105 years old is definitely not enough to merit an article.Shin Matsushita just died at 115 (an age a fraction of 1% of 105-year-olds reach) and her name is just a redirect to a list of Japanese who reached 110.What has your friend done in her life to be notable?12.144.5.2 (talk) 23:52, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Cast for New Amazon Show, No Worries...Curry!
[edit]Hello, I would like some guidance creating new Wikipedia pages for the cast of a new Amazon Prime Show, No Worries...Curry! I didn't realize there was coding involved and technicalities for uploading pictures and references. I'm personally accustomed to editing a few wikipedia pages, but never made one on my own before. Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vragho1 (talk • contribs) 23:47, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, Vragho1. Have a look at your Talk page for some linked articles which should prove helpful. Also, be sure to read WP:Notability and WP:Reliable sources.--Quisqualis (talk) 02:59, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
