Request: reverse finished badge and original artwork, so images are "before" and "after"... Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 12:58, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- These are probably all copyright violations as derivative works, even one is up for deletion as such. — raekyT 05:55, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, they're probably not copyright violations as derivative works, based on the discussion for that deletion, this is a local event, and unlike national emblems which really are copyrighted, it is both probable that the uploader had a hand in the production or creation of the badges, and that the design was not registered. This would explain why the uploader has both the original artwork and the finished badge. I know this is OR on my part, but I have designed dozens of badges and did not register any of them, as they are for temporary events, a weeklong camp, a training session....--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 06:23, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- Actually it is, see my comment in the deletion discussion. — raekyT 06:24, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Request: Can anyone do anything about the brightness on the top left corner? I've tried, but I can't really do anything, so that's why I'm here. Thanks in advance! Connormah 00:50, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s):
- Assuming you're talking about the bright patch on her hair, level/curve adjustment doesn't seem to help because the highlights are overexposed. Fixes will probably need repainting of that area. It's annoying that the entire section of hair with that angle is too bright, which means a straight clone can't be used. gringer (talk) 02:25, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- I had a go anyway. I duplicated the layer, clipped out an area of good hair, rotated that area to fit over the highlight, adjusted colours to fit with surrounding area, and erased the edge to make the fit a bit cleaner. It's still an obvious modification, and I wouldn't consider it much of an improvement (if any). Feel free to upload improvements over the top of that one. gringer (talk) 02:51, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- I was playing with this at the same time - so here's my effort. I took a different approach and selected the highlight areas with a threshold mask, feathered the area, then painted them with a darker hair colour to create an adjustment layer. It's at about 50% opacity here, and I have the source file, so I can increase or decrease that if you think it's any good. Increasing it too much starts to get noticeable, though. - That photo of a sign is MOST LIKELY a copyright violation being a derivative work of a 2d artwork that is likely copyrighted. Therefore the SVG is a derivative work of a copyrighted work. I've marked both of these for deletion on Commons. — raekyT 05:45, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Article(s): New York State Route 57
Request: When the first pic is rendered at thumbnail size, the text in the marker is only faintly visible because the green and white are (I guess) dulled by the shadows. I also took a closeup pic of the marker; however, in this case the marker is too bright, making it near-illegible again. Is it possible to modify the pics so that the markers look a bit more natural (like here) and are more legible? – TMF 17:08, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

- Done: I tried to improve the first. Do you like it? PawełMM (talk) 08:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- It's certainly better than it was before. I'm not the biggest fan of it, though, because now it looks like the marker has a spotlight shining on it. Would it be possible to lighten up the entire foreground? If not, I went out to Clay last week and took a picture of another marker that we could work with (in another request, of course). That photo's lighting situation is much more straightforward than this one's is. – TMF 01:12, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Request: Could someone clean up the vertical lines, speckling and the smugging at the bottom and the top of the photo. We are working on this article as part of the Smithsonian Collaboration and want to show them the full scope of what we can do with their help (Plus the image has the potential to be pretty good). Thanks, Sadads (talk) 18:19, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s):
Request taken by NativeForeigner.: when you accept the request ; Doneish. I'd need higher resolution to do much more without mangling details, although I"ll work on the smudging a bit more. I can't get the selection area right, with the right feathering of edges to get it done correctly, and what I've tried to do has been mangling it worse, so... NativeForeigner Talk/Contribs 01:49, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- It looks much better, and any more you can do with that smudge at the bottom, would be great. For the one at the top, I think you solved that most of the way. Steller job on the verticle lines and the speckles. For someone who doesn't do much photo clean up, I don't know exactly what the limitations are, but their are still a fair number of speckles around his left eye (our right), but very much impressed and I don't think you should stress over that. Graphist opinion(s): As nobody else tried yet - here's an attempt. If you think I've overdone it desaturating the blue in the globe, just say, I've kept the source file, so easy to change, and it's a separate adjustment to the highlights on the station itself. (in fact there are a couple less aggressive in the history of the 'edit' file) Begoontalk 14:29, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, but the new files seem more... Blotchy? As for saturation, etc., if you could make the new file as close as possible to the first, lo-res version of the original file, that's what I'm looking for. :-) Colds7ream (talk) 15:23, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Getting closer, so let's try this; the highlights on Kristall and Priroda should be somewhere around Ivory (color), and the orange docking module should be somewhere around Orange (colour) and Burnt Orange (color). Request: take out some of the background chatter... Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 13:22, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s):
Since this was untouched for so long I had a quick go. It's a pretty awful scan to begin with, and I've been fairly aggressive with it - so the result is probably not the best. Begoon•talk 16:09, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you, sorry about that, and for the delay in noticing this one.--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 11:46, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Request: straighten, trim to oval... Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 00:27, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s):
That's straightened based on the lettering, since the geometry of the thing is all over the place. If you try to straighten based on the cutouts, the lettering runs uphill and looks wrong. I had to lose the outer white band when cropping, because it's not present all the way around, and I also cleaned and brightened it a bit. Begoon•talk 08:08, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Danke schön! And thank you for the headsup on my talkpage, my Wiki this week has been sketchy. Pesky job...--Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 18:44, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, see I even made that template for notification, because there was one for Illustrations, but not one for Photos, so I like to use it to nag you dilettantes who take more than 2.67 seconds to respond to my efforts. Pull your socks up, ok? Begoon•talk 18:52, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Request: Please remove the Japanese text. As an extra, change the background color to something more positive than pure black. bamse (talk) 09:55, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s): Done: I've uploaded the image under a seperate filename as the current version is used on both the Japanese and Chinese wikis and they may well wish to retain the text. I've evened up the space around the swords, cropped it a bit and kept the background black as I feel this offers the best contrast, I see no reason to make the background of this encyclopedic image a garish colour. However I could invert the colours if you wish, making the background white and swords darker. Regards Fallschirmjäger ✉ 11:12, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the very fast response. Looks good to me. Inverting colors would probably make the swords look less like metal. bamse (talk) 21:30, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Battle of Avaí during the War of the Triple Alliance (overwritten)
Article(s): Brazil
Request: Hi! Well, I'd like to know if its is possible to take the images of Pedro Álvares Cabral and the other one of José Bonifácio de Andrada and remove the background as in this picture (Here: [2]). The last one, which despicts the Battle of Avaí, I'd like to see the text in the upper-right corner removed. And perhaps, if possible, to make the "line" in the middle of the picture (it is in fact two images collaged together). As it was one picture only. Thank you all for your help. Regards, Lecen (talk) 13:29, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

- I've noticed that in the Battle of Avaí painting the right-half of it has a "yellowish" tone in it. Could it be fixed, please? --Lecen (talk) 16:05, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

- Don't undersell yourself - it's one of the most undetectable watermark removals from a difficult place I've seen for a while. Begoon•talk 19:15, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Request to remove powerlines

Description of image
Article(s): Tariffville Historic District
Request: Can the power lines be removed? It could also use a bit of cropping at the bottom, but I can do that, I don't know how to remove lines. (as important aside, is this type of editing allowed?) SPhilbrickT 15:57, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Graphist opinion(s): Request taken by Kingpin13. Should be possible. - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:02, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- Done Let me know if that's okay. I cropped out the road for you, and also improved the colour (if you prefer how it was before I can reupload with just the wires removed). I've also uploaded over, feel free to upload as a new file, and revert the old one back if desired. And to answer your question, yes, encyclopaedic edits like these are fine, no one is going to kick up a fuss about a few removed wires :D. Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:21, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
- Wow that is wonderful!!! The article Tariffville Historic District looks much, much better. Now I have to work on the text, to bring it up to the level of the picture. Thanks.--SPhilbrickT 18:01, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
