Here you can request photos for articles related to the challenge, you can offcourse also request pictures for articles to be written. The idea is that users nearby the museum might be able to take these, or maybe the museum can help out.
Currently we have no photo available for the article Teylers astronomical observatory. A nice clean shot from outside would be appreciated. Perhaps there is also a historical drawing available from how the environment looked like in the 18th century, as seen from the observatory? effeietsanders10:05, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I will change that to "sitting from left to right" since left to right might not be obvious to everyone. Please check if this interpretation is correct. Thanks! effeietsanders09:34, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, while trying to find more information about Antoni Kuits (not very easy, but there are snippets here and there), I bumped into this PDF which suggests that Koenraad Hovens was not the secretary to the board, but the secretary of the Hofje? (footnote 1095) The pdf might of course be mistaken, but an extra check would be good I guess. effeietsanders09:46, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Teylers Hofje was also 'governed' by the Board of Teylers Stichting. Koenraad Hovens was secretary to the Board- and hence also secretary of Teylers Hofje. It's indeed not easy to find more info on the early directors. The best source is (though unfortunately not available online): L.C. Palm and A. Wiechmann (eds.),Een elektriserend geleerde. Martinus van Marum 1750-1837 (Haarlem 1987)`, especially pp. 67-101 (mainly on Jacobus Barnaart).Gjjanse (talk) 14:26, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. the UVA website is a very useful source: Pieter Teyler was a mennonite (doopsgezind) and -at least in the early days of the Foundation- all Directors and the members of Teylers Eerste Genootschap were mennonites.Gjjanse (talk) 12:48, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
