Fáilte! Welcome!

Some Wikipedians formed a project to better organise articles relevant to Gaelic games. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians.

If you have any questions about the project, please enquire on the talk page.

If you would like to help, see the tasks section below. Advice on sources is available.

For more information on WikiProjects, please see Wikipedia:WikiProjects and Wikipedia:WikiProject best practices.

Scope

[edit]

This WikiProject aims to create, expand and improve listings relevant to the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and its associated sports, i.e. Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, Gaelic handball and rounders. The scope of the project covers articles on these sports, their competitions, the county boards, club and county teams, players and other related matters.

Tasks

[edit]
  • Ensure that the article on the All-Ireland SFC final is updated and then — when the game is over — nominate it here, where it is listed as a recurring item.
  • Example — use {{ITN candidate}}
  • It is important that the article has prose, or it risks being opposed, like this (basketball) nomination.
  • The match summary should be more than one paragraph. Avoid excessive use of quotations, especially in the post-match section — Advice given here.
  • Ensure that the hurling competition navboxes are updated:
  1. Template:County hurling team managers
  2. Template:Liam MacCarthy Cup
  3. Template:Joe McDonagh Cup
  4. Template:Christy Ring Cup
  5. Template:Nicky Rackard Cup
  6. Template:Lory Meagher Cup
  7. Template:GAA National Leagues
  • Incomplete redirects from page moves:
  1. Colm O'Neill redirect
  2. Babs Keating redirect
  3. Declan Ryan (hurler) redirect
  4. Tadhg O'Connor, not Tadgh? redirect
  5. Shinty–Hurling International Series redirect
  6. 2000–01 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship redirect
  7. Camogie navbox redirect
  8. Gaelic Athletic Association navbox redirect
  9. Complete Corofin GAA (Galway) and redirect Corofin GAC to Corofin GAA.
  10. Séamus Callinan redirect
  11. Richie Power (hurler, born 1985)
  12. All-Time All Star Award (Hurling)
  • If you are interested in photography, you can help by:
  1. Adding/searching for people who are in the requested images category.
  • Flickr search: As of August 2022, no suitable images are available on Flickr for the following (listed alphabetically):
  1. Cropping File:Paul Murphy (hurler) and Jonathan Glynn.jpg to create individual photos of the two.
  2. Cropping File:Séamus Callanan and Aidan Harte.jpg for Séamus Callanan and Aidan Harte
  3. Cropping File:2010 Super Hero Fun Run Launch - 4875537977.jpg for Eoin Cadogan
  4. Cropping File:Graham Canty.jpg for Graham Canty
  5. Cropping File:Niall Healy and Pádraic Maher.jpg for Pádraic Maher
  6. Cropping File:Paulbrady2.jpg for Paul Brady (handballer)
  • If you want to work on new biographies but are still unsure which are notable, you can help by creating the following missing football All Stars:
Note that some of these players may have pages already created under a different title. If this is the case, the template for that year's All Stars (Template:XXXX All Stars) needs to be altered to reflect the correct article name. See here for details on the layout of a typical player biography.
  1. {{Antrim county football team managers}} existing articles incl. Lenny Harbinson, Enda McGinley and Andy McEntee
  2. {{Carlow county football team managers}} existing articles incl. Paul Bealin, Anthony Rainbow, Turlough O'Brien and Niall Carew
  3. {{Longford county football team managers}} existing articles incl. Brendan Hackett, Glenn Ryan and Padraic Davis
