I had intended (per the licence selection above and the inclusion of the text "I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby release it into the public domain. This applies worldwide." in my source code) to release the image into the public domain, which, as I read policy, should qualify it as a free file not requiring such a rationale. The Planetary Society logo is the logo for the Planetary Society, it appears on the magazine because it is the publisher's logo. Just like any other publication where some publishers place their own logo onto their publications. It is not the logo of the magazine itself. For instance, every magazine published by CPM also carries a CPM logo, but it isn't the logo of the magazines in question. The organizations logo includes the maple leaf (twisted a bit). Removing the maple leaf would be taking an essential part away from the logo. We do not edit logos for the use on Wikipedia. I am saying that there are two logos, one graphic logo and one textual logo. This can plainly be seen since the orientation of the graphic and the text are different in different images. If it were truly one logo, the orientation of the text and the graphic would always be the same, which it isn't, so there are two separate logos. You're right there are two different logos, a horizontal one (with the leaf on the side) and a vertical one (with the leaf on top). Those are the entire image. Taking the text off of one of those images would be extracting our own image and would not be illustrative of their true logo. I've just looked over the Canada Games website again, and find no place where only the text logo is used. If you can link me to a place where the text logo is used without the leaf on their website (not a share site with an image you created) then I'll upload it. I'm on the fence about this one. The purpose of uploading a fair-use logo for use in an article is to provide a visual that the company has already used as a method of branding their product. It seems like they haven't really created a series logo, only individual logos for each game. Cropping what looks like a logo out of an advertisement-type banner could be construed as creating a logo where one doesn't exist. I'm going to ping TLSuda who is much more active here than I am for a second opinion. Using the plain Spellforce Logo would be fine. I would have no problem screenshoting the part that says Spellforce Complete Collection from their website as that seems official to me covering the whole collection. You should be fine to go ahead and to that @NickW557:. As for the rest of the article @RCTngl:, the screenshots to not meet WP:NFCC#8 in this article and should be removed. Request: Eugene M. Locke, deputy ambassador to South Vietnam in 1967-1968.jpg

Description: This image was taken between May 1967 and January 1968, during which time Locke was deputy ambassador to South Vietnam. The back of the photo, which comes from family archives, says simply in pencil U.S. Deputy Ambassador to Viet Nam Eugene Locke. I believe this was taken by the U.S. State Department as a photo to be given to the press. I made a query on this through Wikipedia and received the following response from The Red Pen of Doom: You cannot presume it is copyright free. You must assume it is under some copyright unless specific evidence demonstrating that it is not. However, since Locke is dead, we can use it on wikipedia under the WP:FAIR criteria until evidence of its copyright is established and then move it to Commons if appropriate.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:13, 29 June 2015 (UTC) Mrs. Eugene M. Locke (Adele Locke Seybold) has also died so there's no one to provide more information about this photo, taken about 48 years ago. Thanks for any help on this.
