The portal was promoted 08:14, 11 March 2008.
Self-nomination. See archived peer review. Stats: (30) Selected articles, all of WP:GA or WP:FA quality, (18) Selected biographies, all of WP:GA or WP:FA quality, (20) Selected pictures, all are free-use images, (21) Selected quotes, all with free-use images and links to notable individuals with articles on Wikipedia, (20) Did you know subpages, showing 3 at a time, each displaying 1 relevant free-use image. All of the above sections are randomized and display new content when the portal is purged. The News section updates automatically from Wikinews, using User:Wikinews Importer Bot. I believe the portal meets the standards for Featured Portal status. Cirt (talk) 17:09, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support. Attractive and clean and lots of content prepared. Portrait for quote is a nice touch, by the way. Well done. -Susanlesch (talk) 23:30, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks, I can't really take credit for that idea, got it from RichardF (talk · contribs)'s great work with other featured portals. Cirt (talk) 05:41, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support, overall very excellent work done. One small point, can Intro section have two or three more sensible lines? Shyam (T/C) 10:19, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I suppose it could, but I took that from the article Criminal justice, so if someone wants to expand the WP:LEAD for that article itself, I'd use that for the portal intro. Cirt (talk) 16:50, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Most of the images in biographies are kind of small in the portal, but not the image itself. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:22, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't quite follow - what do you recommend be changed? Cirt (talk) 04:25, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I think I see what you mean, and I increased the image sizes in a few of the bios (with explanatory edit summaries) - does that look better now? Cirt (talk) 04:33, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, much better now. OhanaUnitedTalk page 05:16, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Support, Nice portal, excellent lay out, I especially enjoy the "news" section, along with the "Selected picture" Ctjf83Talk 06:13, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I this this article might be ready to be featured. Thus, I'm nominating it.--Bedford 01:08, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - The only thing that I think needs fixed is some of aesthetic things. The Indiana Portal has some great color detail. Otherwise looks good. HoosierStateTalk 01:35, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - Everything looks great to me. Bedford has done a great job on it. -- JTHolla! 22:09, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support. Clean, easy to follow lots of information. Good job. Gets my vote. -Susanlesch (talk) 23:33, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comments
- Lacks Topics section.
- Better use search link pages for Wikinews and Wikiquote in Associated Wikimedia. Done
- What will be shown from March 17th - March 23rd and so on in On this day section. You may add a link for adding a happening event in the section as well. You can also use some tag line, if you re not able to find an event on any particular day. - Shyam (T/C) 10:34, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- One more point, reducing image size in the Intro section may sound good. Done Thanks, Shyam (T/C) 10:35, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've done the following:
- With the lists, categories, and the Indy Template subjects, I really didn't see a need for a Topics section.
- I would say, this is one of the pre-requisites to be featured. Shyam (T/C) 06:24, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I already have two portals featured, and neither had topics, nor did anyone miss them.--Bedford 06:29, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I would say, it should have been added to them as well, before being featured. Rather than using lists section, you can mention useful articles link out of them, and may add some more useful. Shyam (T/C) 08:10, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I would say, this is one of the pre-requisites to be featured. Shyam (T/C) 06:24, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Wikinews and Wikiquote fixed
- We still have a little time until those dates, so I didn't want to put a placeholder until absolutely necessary. We do have an entry for everyone from now to April 5.
- I would not see any harms in having more than one happening events for a particular date, so it may be better having the link. If you do not want, it's absolutely your wish. Shyam (T/C) 06:24, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Images has been shrank.--Bedford 17:44, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support I really like this portal, its very clean and easy to get the information that you need. The only thing that I would suggest is to change Portal:Indianapolis/Selected picture/2, it is definitely not Featured Portal material.--CPacker (talk) 06:14, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I never cared that much for that particular pic myself (don't know why I used it in the first place). Anyway, I replaced it with another of the War Memorial that some French user put on the Commons.--Bedford 06:35, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I did some cleanup for you. But it looks good in general. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:24, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support looks clean, well-built. feydey (talk) 13:50, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found this portal a wreck a month ago and have updated it alot. I have added Selected Bio's, Spotlight City, Featured Content, added many photos, added more recent news, and added the Random portal component. I think that it is Featured Portal material so I am nominating it.--CPacker (talk) 08:47, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support. Just great. Colors are outstanding and distinctive by the way. -Susanlesch (talk) 06:15, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comments
- Avoid red links in the Selected article. e.g. Ed Galloway in Portal:Oklahoma/Selected article/2. Done
- Replace Wikinew's by Wikinews' in the end of Oklahoma news section. Done
- Remove Dash (-) from the end (after Transportation) of the Categories section. Done
- Remove Collaborators section from the main page. it can be used at the talk page. Done
- The pages not having on the Associated Wikimedia (Wikibooks and Wikisource, in this case), can be redirected to the search page. Done
- Lack of Related portals section. Done- Shyam (T/C) 11:08, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I fixed all of the issues for the comments above.--CPacker (talk) 19:49, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support Great work on this, CPacker. The content extensive and interesting, and as long us over at WP:OK keep it up to date, this should be a good addition to the Featured Portals. My only issue might be the color scheme. It could use a little more pizzazz; I'm just not liking the brown/beige thing. I'm thinking a very light gray background with shades of light to moderate green for the boxes and box headlines? I really like the interesting colors on Portal:Minnesota, but it's more of a casual request than a condition. Good work! Okiefromokla questions? 19:24, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I actually think that the colors make it distinctive per Susanlesch, but I understand what your saying. The colors grow on you after awhile.--CPacker (talk) 19:58, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support — I'm so impressed with the amount of work CPacker has put into the Portal. He's right: A few weeks ago, it was a mess. Now, it's outstanding, full of useful, interesting information. As for the colors, I sort of like them as they are now, but I certainly wouldn't object to some tinkering. GreenGourd (talk) 00:48, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Promoted . After just short of three weeks of discussion, it is evident that consensus supports the suggestion that the Oklahoma portal warrants featured status. Well done to all those who invested hard work in the project. AGK § 23:28, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

previous FPOC (21:21, 14 February 2008)
I withdrew the FPOC in, to be honest, a fit of anger. I've decide to smarten up and compromise and make everything automatic. The Suggestions page is always available to add more articles, so I didn't overstock. Big thanks to Ryan Postletwhaite for helping me out with the portal. Maxim(talk) 23:40, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - no concerns per issues last time, etc. Good to see Maxim made the right choice in "smartening up" :) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 23:59, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - Maxim's done a gret job with the portal and it's all automated - It uses the random generator for all the selected content, and it uses the wikinews importer for the news section so there's no longer problems associated with the portal being young. Ryan Postlethwaite 00:03, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - looks nice however, to make it more professional, I'd suggest you italicise the header in the top box - (Ice hockey portal) - in uniform with the other subsections and I'd ask you to uniform the "read more's" as well, for example, all with three dotes after it. Here's an example (read more) and (read more...) → (read more) and (read more) or vice versa. Rudget. 15:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - I fixed the first point, and the second as well, as (read more...). I've made it as one template (Portal:ice hockey/r), so if you believe getting rid of the ellipsis would be better, it'd save me 30 edits. :-p Maxim(talk) 22:01, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comments
It's a well put-together portal, and I'm leaning towards supporting, but there are a few sticking points that need to be addressed. Cirt (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- The pages that show all the various "selected" things on a subpage should have instructions for users on how to add selected content, so they don't have to figure it out on their own. Cirt (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. --Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Hopefully done now. :-) Maxim(talk) 13:53, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Done. --Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- All the "selected pictures" need to have credits. Cirt (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. --Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- All of the selected pictures could also have rollover-captions, like Portal:Film. Cirt (talk) 23:24, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. --Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- In "selected article", "selected biography", and "selected list" - some of the titles of those articles are bolded, and some are bolded and also wikilinked to the highlighted article. Preferably, they should all be both bolded and wikilinked. Cirt (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. --Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Categories section could be reformatted with categorytree coding. Cirt (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but I looked at Portal:Sustainable development and if I were to use the same system for categories as used on that portal, no changes are required IMO. --Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- For an example of "categorytree" usage to have 2 columns, see Portal:Television. Cirt (talk) 23:24, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Associated Wikimedia section could have its own subpage, to direct users to specific project pages, instead of the default stuff. Cirt (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. --Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Small touch - remove the "Purge server cache" and add "Show new selections" instead, below the intro, like in the Featured Portal, Portal:Sustainable development, among others. Cirt (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done, and I moved around the list and changed the width so "Show new selections" would look better with its placement. Maxim(talk) 12:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support. One thing, does the image in the introduction change? Might have just been my luck of the draw, but I'd like to see that B&W photo of pucks change if you are investing in random content. Otherwise looks nice, good job. -03:19, 17 March 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Susanlesch (talk • contribs)
- Comment - the image in the intro isn't random, but I've changed the image to a diagram of the rink, it's the one used as the WP:HOCKEY "symbol", for lack of a better term. Maxim(talk) 20:20, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Nice diagram. (Either of the images looks good.) -Susanlesch (talk) 05:43, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Self nomination. I've been working on this portal for some time and it has developed incredibly well over the last few months. There are many features and other gizmos on the portal, namely:
- 25 Selected articles (all FA)
- 22 Selected pictures
- 67 DYKs, of which 13 are illustrated
- 14 Selected competitions
- Among these, there is an "In the news" section automatically updated, a featured content section, related portals/categories/WikiProjects, and, of course, an introduction.

WeakSupport, could use more articles, but nice nonetheless. WEBURIEDOURSECRETSINTHEGARDEN tell me a joke... 21:28, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for the Support. Though generally the informal minimum standard is 10 selected articles per randomized section - I have added a few more articles into rotation (mainly those WP:GA-rated articles I had neglected to add in initially because they didn't have an associated free-use image, but still nice additions nonetheless).
