The Daytona 500 is one of the crown in the jewels of NASCAR. It has been held every year since 1959 and is known as The Great American Race. 43 drivers have won this prestigious race, including some of the all time greats in Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, David Pearson and Cale Yarborough. All comments are welcome EnthusiastWorld37 (talk) 16:05, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Source review
[edit]I'll do a source review, and add in any general comments. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 22:15, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't have much to say on this one, EnthusiastWorld37. Overall, great work! Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 11:55, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @BennyOnTheLoose: Have made changes based on the points below. Let me know if there is anything else that needs addressing EnthusiastWorld37 (talk) 13:08, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sources
- St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture could be wikilinked
- What makes ConceptCarz a reliable source? It's been around for a long time but I couldn't see much about its editorial oversight on the site.
- Isn't it "Guinness World Records" rather than "Guinness World Book of Records"?
- Encyclopædia Britannica and Guinness have no consensus at WP:RSP. The EB entry has been written by staff and the GWR info is straightforward, so I think their use here is fine.
- Is the Tucker and Tiller ref needed at the heding of the Winners of the Daytona 500 table? It only covers up to 1994.
- Other sources all look fine for the info cited.
- I didn't see any issues with citation formatting.
- Pass for source review. All looks good now. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:12, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
General comments
- Shouldn't the wikilink at "American stock car race" exclude the "American" (i.e. be "American stock car race")?
- Looking at the source, isn't "the race has been extended through the use of overtime rules on several occasions" a bit of an understatement?
- "a large sum of money" - how about specifying the most recent amount available, rather than using this imprecise statment?
- Support: Meets the criteria in my opinion. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:12, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]- In the header of the first table, "Refs." is the abbreviation of "References".
- Richard Petty's image's caption should end with a full stop, given that it is a complete sentence.
- In the header of the "By team" table, and for the sake of consistency, it should read as "Team" instead of Teams.
That's what I saw, EnthusiastWorld37. Nice work. Kind regards, Alavense (talk) 05:28, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Alavense: Have addressed your concerns EnthusiastWorld37 (talk) 06:11, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. This is what I meant, given that in the other tables it's Driver and Make. Please undo it if you don't like it. Support. Alavense (talk) 06:28, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Closing note: This candidate has been promoted, but there may be a delay in bot processing of the close. Please see WP:FLC/ar, and leave the {{featured list candidates}} template in place on the talk page until the bot goes through. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:39, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
