Discussion
[edit]Just to be absolutely clear, what do you mean by "most" talk pages? —METS501 (talk) 01:59, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Most of the subcategories of Category:Plants fall within the scope of Wikipedia:PLANTS but a few do not, such as Category:Synthetic resins. Obvious exceptions will be omitted. Questionable subcategories or individual articles within those subcategories will be initially omitted and discussed with members of Wikipedia:PLANTS for inclusion in the tagging effort. Thanks for asking! --Rkitko 04:14, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Oh, and to clarify another question that might come up: When I say, "when tasks arise" I mean that if additional parameters are added to the {{WikiProject Plants}} template like "photo needed", this bot could be used for those tagging purposes. No function will be beyond these templates for the above mentioned WikiProjects, though. If I find a use for the bot beyond the stated use, I will return here for an approval for the added function, of course. Thanks! --Rkitko 22:36, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Approved for trial. Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Make 50-100 edits and report back here. —METS501 (talk) 00:22, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- 62 articles within Category:Polygonaceae have been tagged with {{WikiProject Plants|class=|importance=}}. See BotanyBot's contribs. Everything went as planned. Thanks! --Rkitko 02:31, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Approved. Looks good. This bot shall run with a flag. —METS501 (talk) 03:41, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I hope the child projects are using the same template?
- Are you aware of my templating plugin for AWB? The regexes are all prewritten for you and it doesn't mess up pre-existing templates. --kingboyk 23:25, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- The child projects use different templates. User:Hesperian and I discussed it and came up with the idea of having the templates for Wikipedia:CPS and Wikipedia:BANKSIA categorize the articles into Wikipedia:PLANTS categories as well (such that the class parameter would be the same but importance would be ranked-down: articles tagged for WP:CPS as mid-importance will be categorized into Category:Mid-importance carnivorous plant articles and Category:Low-importance plant articles.) Since I'm a new user to AWB, I've been very careful about selectively avoiding the child project articles, which wasn't so difficult since I'm going of a fairly well-organized category. I'll look into your templating plugin. Thanks! --Rkitko (talk) 00:04, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
