Ernest Rutherford copy-edit
[edit]Hi Zorblin, I'm a copy-editor at the Guild of Copy Editors (GOCE). I noticed you accepted the copy-edit request for the article Ernest Rutherford at the Requests page. Thanks for your work there but you haven't edited it since 8 September. Please let us know if you intend to continue your copy-edit, otherwise someone will strike your acceptance so another editor can work on the article. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 23:39, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Oh oops, yeah strike it, I don't have the time that I thought I would have had. Zorblin (talk) 01:05, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
- No problem, thanks for your work there, I appreciate RL must take priority. Good luck and cheers, Baffle☿gab 17:03, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
A word of thanks
[edit]Hello! I am a novice editor who has been following the Matooskie page. I tried my hand at a CE on that article, for a bit, but left it to return to later; and I'm glad I did. It was nice to watch someone do some good editing as a way to learn: it helped that I had reviewed it previously. Your edits were simple, careful and clear; and they nicely resolved some of the little awkward bits by gently inserting ideas -- like the one about "country wives" and "marriages à la façon du pays" -- back into the narrative. I also appreciated the way you gave an "unknown First Peoples wife" more status by subtly enlarging her identity, while also clarifying the family history; and appreciated how, when you later added "this manner of European-Native common law marriage" to describe Matooskie's marriage, your CE helped to clarify the historical practice without teaching. (You had earlier deleted some parentheticals about "common law" marriage, including my own, that did teach, rather than describe.)
So thanks. I'd give you a gold star, if only I knew how. — Yogabear2020 (talk) 00:15, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Wow, thank you for this! And no worries about a barnstar, I can copy this comment into my userpage.
- I was just copy editing during some downtime, I'm glad that my edits were of sufficient quality to warrant this response.
- Well wishes, Zorblin (talk) 01:46, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. Your "downtime" was well spent (in my opinion). And well wishes in return. — Yogabear2020 (he/him; Talk) 16:52, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
