Please reply in the right section :-)

Hi Zoofari! When you sent me the message "I made a reply at Wade's page." on my user page, I belive you sent it to the wrong section. Please next time put it in the correct one. Thx! :-) --Goldblattster (talk) 16:11, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Oops! Yeah, I was supposed to reply to the section above it. Sorry, and I made a note to that other user who created the section. Thanks for the notice. ZooFari 22:14, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't mean to nitpick at you, but you added numerous tags to this article using Friendly, but it looks like you didn't actually read it. This article made numerous utterly outrageous claims and is obviously vandalism. Please be more thorough if you are going to examine new articles. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:37, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, though it simply looked too scientific for me to think it was vandalism. My fault, though. ZooFari 19:39, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
It seems this is just what this sneaky editor intended. It started off seeming at least plausible, but degenerated into outrageous lies. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:43, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

About SVGs

Thank you for correcting the organo-Hg one. If it isn't trespassing, could I ask if you would take a look at Turkish logo one posted further down the page? I'd hate to see that end up on an articel... 76.117.247.55 (talk) 01:32, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome. Can you give me the section? I don't see it, or I don't know which one you are referring to. ZooFari 02:15, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
It is Wikipedia:Graphic_Lab/Image_workshop#Progressive_Republican_Party. 76.117.247.55 (talk) 05:49, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Okay. It will be tough, as it is low quality. So don't expect accuracy! First, is it a solid color, or the red brightness in some parts normal? If not, which color do I use, the bright red or dark one? ZooFari 05:53, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
As nearly as I can tell from the links provided, it should be a solid red color with white letters/symbols/borders. The color difference is probably a function of the compression used. I would take the red from the center of the moon and use that as "the" red. 76.117.247.55 (talk) 06:03, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Maybe the red in the flag you provided at the GL? ZooFari 06:05, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
That should be fine, but I didn't provide it (I'm not the original requester, but don't want to see a shoddy SVG passed off (Especially to a foreign language wiki), so I asked if you could do this one; sorry ;) ). I've asked the original requester (On the GL) if they can help indicate what parts are writing and what parts are artifacts. Also, could you adjust the moon and star a little? The moon should be larger and the horns of the moon should exactly touch the points on the star. Thanx, 76.117.247.55 (talk) 17:43, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Will have to ask the Turkish dude on GL if there are any other incorrect things hanging around the text. He may also know how the star is supposed to go. 76.117.247.55 (talk) 04:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

Hi Zoo. Would you please remove the Speedy Deletion notice from the "Vibration-proof hitch" Thanks, Bob BobMcGr (talk) 22:57, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Done now that it is fixed. ZooFari 22:36, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Distortion fixes

Not sure if this is your thing or not (I know you work with SVGs), but are you able to fix image distortion? Mfield must be busy, which is fine; he's done a lot for me recently. Let me know what you think:

  • File:EMPACTwilight.JPG: This needs to be straightened and un-distorted. Is it possible to make the left and right edges of the building vertical? That's what annoys me the most.
  • File:NYC NYSE.jpg: This needs distortion fixing. It's used on United States, so it should be as high quality as possible, really.

Thanks, ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 04:27, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Hello Wade. Sorry, but I don't have a software to fix this. I know Mfield uses photoshop, as file details shows, but my PC isn't equipped with it :( Yeah, Mfield is an excellent distortion corrector. I guess we need to get this at the GL, though Mfield is the only one I see who fixes them. ZooFari 00:34, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Compressing SVG file

How do I compress SVG file ? I've tried to compress them by using Inkscape, but the compressed image extension became SVGZ and I can't upload it to wikipedia. Hope to hear from you soon ASAP. Thanks. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 10:47, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Compressed SVGs can't be uploaded. Yeah, if you save it in compressed format (.svgz), then Wikimedia will not accept it. Any reason why you want it compressed? You can simply save your graphic in Inkscape (.svg) format. ZooFari 22:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Revisionist History

Sorry, even if you think it's negative, Tedisco still lost, and you can't change that by telling people not to be so negative. Rain City Blues (talk) 09:20, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

There are still proper ways of describing such things. For example, you don't say that "he killed the president". You obviously say "he assassinated the president". Instead of saying "loser" you can say that he was defeated (even though it is not necessary by the fact that conceded means won over, duh). A change in winner may also be better, as winner seems conceded. However, the negatives are what count. By the way, you are on the path to being reported for 3RR if you continue your revert war. Converting PNG to SVG

Dear Zoofari, I had a couple of high quality football club logos PNG files, can you help to convert it to SVG and upload it on their respective pages? I have converted a couple of them and have already uploaded it to Wikipeida, e.g. File:Tottenham Hotspur.svg & File:Sunderland AFC.svg. But as you zoom them, you can see clearly the mistakes that I've made plus it also doesn't look nice when the size is reduced. I will request for deletion of the svg files that I've already uploaded if they didn't meet the quality that I've expected, and change them with PNG's, what do you think about it ? Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 11:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Sure, just give me the rasters. Don't delete the SVGs you created, though. I might be able to upload over them instead of creating multiple SVG pages :) ZooFari 18:29, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Can you provide me with your e-mail address, so that I can send you the rasters. Thanks Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 09:45, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

New Zealand Derby Riccarton

Look. Can you please give me a chance. I have only just started constructing this article. This whole business is a mess. The New Zealand Derby was moved from Riccarton to Ellerlie. Wallie (talk) 18:37, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

For future reference, please place {{construction}} at the top of the article. Thanks, ZooFari 19:31, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
OK. Thanks for your help. I will put the construction tag on next time. :) Wallie (talk) 19:40, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you tagged this page for speedy deletion under criterion A7. While your tagging was not incorrect, I believe you should have used criterion G10 instead, as this is clearly a page created only to attack or disparage its subject. This also gives the creator a more stern warning than a simple notice saying their subject may not be notable. It is also likely to get faster administrator attention.

Keep in mind that attack pages should preferably also be blanked. Some tools, like Twinkle, does this automatically. Other than that, keep up the good work! decltype (talk) 01:07, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

SVG tweak

Hey ZooFari: Would you be able to tweak this SVG to look more like this one? The main issue I have is the islands in Lake Ontario don't show up in the first one. Looks like that black layer should be sent to the back or something. Also the black-line borders in the lakes themselves shouldn't be there (again, sent to back, I think). See what you can do, please? Thanks! ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 20:43, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

How is that? (uploaded over it). ZooFari 22:07, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Good, but the border on the right side is missing now (it's behind the colored counties). It looks like Rensselaer County's borders are hidden too (the red county on the right). Can these be fixed too? ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 22:53, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
How about now (fixed both, uploaded over them)? These SVGs were made very awkwardly, so I had to make additional lines to put them all together. Let me know if this works for you or need anything else :) ZooFari 05:05, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Ahhh, perfect. In fact I would like one more thing, if I may. Can you make this into an SVG, please? Just use the file above as a template. Try to keep the colors of the new SVG as close to those in the PNG (I assume this isn't difficult, but it's important in the way we're using it). Many thanks once again! ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 06:22, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Images

Hi ZooFari,

You suggested back in March that I upload my photos of plants, animals, mushrooms, etc. to Wikipedia under general names and then share them with you in an attempt to identify their species names. It took me a while, but here they are. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

Neelix (talk) 00:53, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Wow. Those are alot of images. It will take time to identify them all. I will try to identify them from time to time. I will leave you notes on your talkpage when I get some identified. ZooFari 00:56, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
See here and here. ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 06:34, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Whoops

Hey ZooFari. There's one minor glitch with your update to this. One of the counties got lost. If you look at this, the missing county is the blue one (Fulton County, New York). Can you add that back in? In must have gotten lost in the background layers. (It should be pink, not red). Thanks! ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 14:57, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

E-mail Address

Can you provide me with your e-mail address, so that I can send you the rasters. Thanks (Based on the Converting PNG to SVG section) Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 07:45, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

My email is kinda private. Can you upload them to Wikipedia temporarily, and then request speedy deletion after saving them to my system? ZooFari 01:24, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Or, enable your email and I will email my email to your email. ZooFari 04:06, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Done, it has been enabled Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 07:50, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Have you sent me the e-mail, I didn't get it yet, I hope you can do it ASAP, thanks Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 10:49, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
I created an alternative email of mine for Wikipedia purposes. Here it is: ZooFari-Wikipedia@Hotmail.com. ZooFari 22:07, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Dear ZooFari, I've already send you the rasters. I hope that you can convert it to the highest SVG quality. I also want to thank you for your willingness to help me in converting the images. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 09:50, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
And could you please make this file transparent File:Soccerball mask.svg. Thanks Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 10:13, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
I got your email. You sent me like 4 messages. Are these duplicates? It looks like it to me, but I was just wondering because I don't want to miss out anything. You also provided a list for me. What am I suppose to convert them to? They are all SVGs! I assume the ones you attached are the rasters you want me to convert, but I don't know about the list. There is also a problem with uploading logos. I might have to send the vectors back to you for you to upload, as I don't know the sources or anything about the images. ZooFari 22:14, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Also, it seems like the soccer ball image was intentionally made with a white background. It is used in a huge amount of links, so modifying it would not be a good idea. ZooFari 22:22, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Dear ZooFari, I don't want you to convert the SVG's that is already in Wiki, I just want you to convert the rasters that I have emailed you to SVGs. The lists that I give you are the SVG files that have been uploaded by me several days ago and I just want you to upload the new version of it (made by you). Its okay if you can't reupload them, you can always send the vectors to my e-mail. And btw I didn't intend to send you four messages, I want send it only once, maybe because I click at the Send button four times, so it send you four. The connection over here is very slow and I'm afraid that I've to write it all over again. Sorry for that. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 09:19, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Also for the soccerball, I want you to make it transparent because it take up spaces. If you don't want to make it transparent, maybe you can help me to cut a bit the white background so that it fits the soccerball size. Hope that you won't be mad at me with all of the requests. Thank you. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 09:29, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Opps, can you revert back to the old version and upload a new file(the transparent one) at commons. I didn't know that it would look like this on this Natalie Grainger page. Sorry. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 22:16, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
I think you had better cut a bit the white background so that it fits the soccerball size, do not make it transparent. Thats better. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 22:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Really sorry for the mistake, I hope that you wont mind Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 22:23, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Do you still want me to upload a new file? And I don't think the problem was the transparency. I cropped it to fit the soccer ball. ZooFari 22:25, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I think that I still need it. You may upload a new file of it. Thanks Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 22:32, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Here it is:File:Soccerball mask transparent background.svg ZooFari 22:40, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Wow, Awesome. Thanks! Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 22:44, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Would you be interested in joining this project? We need more editors who share a burden for rescuing promising editors who have gotten into serious trouble because of behavioral issues. IF (a fundamental condition!) they are interested in reforming and adapting to our standards of conduct, and are also willing to abide by our policies and guidelines, rather than constantly subverting them, we can offer to help them return to Wikipedia as constructive editors. Right now many if not most users who have been banned are still active here, but they are here as socks or anonymous IPs who may or may not be constructive. We should offer them a proper way to return. If you think this is a good idea, please join us. Abce2|AccessDenied 04:05, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Why thank you for the invitation. I never knew there was such Wikiproject! I will absolutely join! ZooFari 04:10, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

ACC Confirmation Needed

Thank you for your interest in helping users create accounts. I'm pleased to advise you that your request has been approved. Please read the guide and ask any questions at WT:ACC. For the time being, you will be limited to creating six accounts per day and will not be able to create accounts with a name similar to that of an existing user. In need of mentorship

Hi,

I saw your name over at WP:ADOPT.

I need the advice of an experienced Wikipedian.

I'm currently coordinating development of Wikipedia's Outline of knowledge, and I am having trouble making the Wikipedia community aware of that navigation system. We need more editors to develop it, and I need advice on how to recruit them.

I also need advice on the guidelines I've been writing for the Outline of Knowledge at User:The Transhumanist/Outline of knowledge. Is it good enough? Did I miss anything important?

My latest effort to recruit help on the outlines is a proposal for a contest between all of the country WikiProjects on Wikipedia (about 200 of them). This will be a very big event, and I'm not sure I'm going about it in the best way.

So you see, I've taken on a lot, and I need as much advice as I can get.

I look forward to your reply on my talk page.

Your nomination is back to the FPC page due to improper closing (together with some others). Would you like to see if this is the righ version of the picture and acting accordingly? Regards, Alvesgaspar (talk) 12:14, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Your comments

You made some comments directly to me here. None of them seem applicable to the Mfd, but I felt like addressing your comments, so I am replying here. Regarding the WikiProject Council, I personally do not find it very useful or necessary and when it was started (quite recently) I found that all the members of the WikiProject intelligent design, of which I have been a member since September 2006, agreed - we have no representative as we do not see any usefulness inherent in our participation that project. It seems to be a needless level of socializing and bureaucracy. I was a member of the Florida WikiProject prior to that. Regarding the stub sorting, that is a much older project and is extremely useful, as it organizes stubs by category so that those with interests coinciding with the stubs topics may easily find, and improve, the stubs. I hope you realize from my comments thus far that I consider some projects to be of great value, and others of value but narrow focus, and others to be of limited or no value, to the overall project which intersts us all (Wikipedia itself.) I presume that my response to your query regarding those two WikiProject also adequately addresses your incredibly rude query "Do you even know the purpose of a Wikiproject" to your satisfaction. I suggest in the future, you limit your comments on Xfds to the actual Xfd itself, rather than tossing out straw men (the other two WikiProjects) and personal rudeness. Please let me know if you have any questions. KillerChihuahua?!? 15:26, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

KillerChihuahua, I haven't even mentioned anything about your comments. I made an sarcastic statement to show my points. ZooFari 04:05, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
sarcastic, yes. To me, also yes. Please don't place that Talkback notice on my page; per the notice at the top of my page I will watch here for replies. thanks, KillerChihuahua?!? 17:29, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Would you mind vectorizing this? I admit it's rather crude (I made it with Powerpoint - the limits of my graphic design software abilities :-) ). Could you make sure that the lines and corners align nicely (unlike in this version)?
