thanks, changed it to WW1. I didn't really know which war it was for, I just guessed at WW2. Cheers mate Ijanderson (talk) 22:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Zolstijers, I notice that you have changed the country of origin in the infobox of Desert Eagle from the USA to Israel, and you have stated that the discussion says that IMI patented it. With all respect, this is wrong. If you read the article, and look at citations three and four ([1], [2] ) which are copies of the patents submitted to the US Patent Office, the first and second patents filed for the Desert Eagle design were filed by Magnum Research, a company based in Minneapolis, Maine inside the United States of America. After these patents were filed, Magnum Research contracted out the manufacturing to IMI in Israel, where a few small refinements were made to the existing design, and was then manufactured in Israel for many years.

So, as I have stated, the country of origin is the United States of America, and only the United States of America, as supported by the citations within the article.--LWF (talk) 22:52, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop, if you change the country of origin again, it will be considered vandalism. You have been warned before and you continue to revert without explanation. — DanMP5 18:09, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ulster Banner

[edit]

In answer to your question at Talk:United Kingdom, there's a whole article on it at Ulster Banner. Seems there is an svg version. Please bear in mind that this is not the flag of NI today. Adding it where it doesn't belong can cause arguments. All the best, Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:22, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Americanism

[edit]

Things like this are not vandalism. Also the use of the word soccer is not restricted to the US. Most countries that have other codes of football tend to use the term soccer, see Names for association football. In fact the word originated in England, Association football#Etymology. I see you appear to be on some sort of campaign to remove American terminology from Wikipedia. Please be aware that the Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National varieties of English covers when and where to use the several varieties of English. Enter CBW, waits for audience applause, not a sausage. 16:36, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And we speak English, not American, evryone should call it Football. Zolstijers, innit brah!? 00:46, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Serwotka's wages

[edit]

On what are you basing the claim that Serwotka's £82,000 wages are the result of the recession? If you've got a reliable source for it, please add it. Haldraper (talk) 20:49, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm basing this claim on pure common sense. I believe, and a lot of others may also agree that due to the recent economic downturn, everyone, including Serwotka would want a higher wage. I'm trying to make the sub section look a little less like a far right smear on Serwotka. If you disagree then I think maybe that a change of words are in order. Zolstijers, innit brah!? 21:10, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Three problems with that:
What you call 'pure common sense' is what Wikipedia calls original research.
In any case, Serwotka's going back on his pledge during his 2000 election to take the average wage of a member predates the recent economic downturn by several years.
Finally, saying he has gone back on his pledge can hardly be a 'far right smear' as a) most of the criticism of it, certainly in the union, is from the far left and b) a smear by definition is untrue and no one disputes that £82,000 is far above the average wage in the civil service. Haldraper (talk) 08:43, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for enlightening me, I'll be careful to cause no more problems for you. Zolstijers, innit brah!? 22:35, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature

[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
