Request reason:

Coming back from a wikibreak, and find out that I'm blocked for using the same IP as a blocked one. I switched to another broswer because its a lot faster. Also requesting IP block exemption. Yoshi24517Chat Online 20:21, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Procedural decline. This request is superseded by the UTRS ticket #16592 sent by this user. Vanjagenije (talk) 17:06, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

You may wish to provide you IP address so an admin could lift the specific block in question, even if they were uncomfortable granting an IP block exemption here. If you don't wish to provide this publicly, you can do so via WP:UTRS. --Yamla (talk) 12:07, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

@Yamla: I have interacted with this editor, finding him helpful and prepared to learn. He has been here two years, and assuming nothing unexpected has related to his block I would be happy with IPBE.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:13, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
Yoshi24517, according to WP:IPBE, you should request an IP block exemption via WP:UTRS. You are welcome to point them here, where Anthony Bradbury and I both think you are a good candidate for this exemption. --Yamla (talk) 12:28, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks Guys! I shall do that now. Yoshi24517Chat Online 16:40, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

Well, you see Yamla and Anthony Bradbury, it was a web host block because I was using the Puffin web browser that acts like a VPN. I started using it because its a lot faster than my normal web broswer. Yoshi24517Chat Online 05:13, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Possibly not a good idea. Tell me, why do you always try to find the fastest way to do things? What is the hurry? --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:21, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Well, you see Anthony Bradbury, I'm using my school-issued iPad. They blocked Safari on our iPads. I was able to also get the Puffin broswer before they locked our App Store also.

Please make a correction on Runcie C. W. Chidebe orphan

Hi Yoshi, hope you are doing great. Please, instead of marking the page of Runcie C.W. Chidebe as orphan, kindly make corrections...as the page is undergoing improvement. There are more things you can add to the page.

I hope to see your corrections and edit on the page Wikinaija (talk) 23:10, 4 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey Wikinaija, thanks for the notice, I hope you are doing well yourself. I didn't decide the orphan tag myself. AWB was the one who decided that it should be an orphan. I looked at the edit box just to make sure it looked right, and I hit save. I hope I didn't mean to cause you any trouble. Anyways, thanks! Yoshi24517Chat Online 03:16, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Thank you User talk:Yoshi24517. Please help de-orphan it. I am been trying it...but don't have enough knowledge on doing it. Wikinaija (talk) 07:34, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey Wikinaija, all you need to do is remove the {{orphan}} Tag from the article. Yoshi24517Chat Online 20:35, 5 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Please read the Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser#Rules_of_use, esp. number 4 - "Do not make insignificant or inconsequential edits". Thanks. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 18:27, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi, Lugnuts, Thanks for notifying me. Can you give me an example of what I am doing? All I am doing at the moment is going through the New Pages, and cleanup tagging them. Yoshi24517Chat Online 18:31, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Well the rules of use I've linked to (and I assume you've read before using AWB) are quite clear. It goes onto say - "An edit that has no noticeable effect on the rendered page is generally considered an insignificant edit." Thanks. Lugnuts Precious bodily fluids 18:32, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Well Lugnuts, I did read it. My question is, is cleanup tagging not a significant edit? Because I've been doing for the past 1,000 edits or so. Yoshi24517Chat Online 18:36, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

About CarryMinati's article

Hello Brother,

I am Bijay from Nepal, have written few articles in Wiki. I have recently talked to Ajey (CarryMinati) and told him that I want to writne an article on wikipedia about him and he provided me some details. I created an article named CarryMinati which was deleted after a day because of an issue which you can see on the carry's article right now on top. I just noticed that you have done some edit on article and want your help to write a perfect article about him as a fan. You seems more experience in this form and you could help that article to overcome from that issue which has been displaying on top.

I will be glad to work with you together in order to complete this work.

Thanks, Bijay Lamichhane Nepal — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bizzlamichhane007 (talkcontribs) 20:59, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

@Bizzlamichhane007:Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! When you reply or leave a message to somebody, you need to remember to sign with 4 tildes (~~~~) and that will automatically produce your signature and date. As for the Carry Minati article: You seem to have added the speedy deletion tag yourself when you created the article. I don't think you want the page deleted, so I removed the notice for you. Thanks! Yoshi24517Chat Online 21:18, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for prompt response, as I am new to Wikipedia I am unknown about some terms of creating articles. That is why I might have done any mistakes during writing an article of Carry Minati. Albeit, I am learning day by day and enjoying Wikipedia. Thanks for removing that tag from the page and again thanking you for signature information. Thanks. PERM clerking

Hi Yoshi. Thank you for your interest in helping clerk at WP:PERM, but that is one of the few areas that are administrator-only. As you have no technical ability to grant user rights, you're unable to accept or deny requests for advanced user rights. You're welcome to comment on requests if you have a particular expertise related to the area of the user right, which is typically done only for the more "niche" ones like template editor and file mover, but please leave the actual done/not done to administrators. Alternatively, you could consider WP:ORCP/WP:RFA. Thank you! ~ Rob13Talk 15:57, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

NPP - Last call for work group comments on stage 1

Hi Yoshi24517,

The future of NPP and AfC:

To take full advantage of the WMF developer time that has been allocated to this project, we must now quickly submit the short list of our priorities before the end of October, otherwise we may lose the attention of the WMF.
If you have not already done so, please visit the page at Suggested Improvements and select your personal choice of 10 features (excluding the ones the devs are already doing) and list them in your order of priority at Priorities.

Thanks. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:50, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

look Yoshi24517, the reason I removed this piece of information is because Ethiopia is currently in a state of emergency, and posting any information that incites ethnic violence is banned. The state of emergency ends after six months. You can then bring back the removed information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Henocksey (talkcontribs) 17:52, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Karkat Vantas

His description looked a bit sparse, so I decided to add one of his major interests. Granted, I hadn't figured out how to make it pretty yet, but deleting it entirely seems wrong. -Horatio Von Becker — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.56.1.106 (talk) 19:24, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

  • Furthermore, I just realized that you deleted the sections that allow linking to individual Trolls. Put those back right now. -Horatio Von Becker
Please don't add them without credible sources. Thank you. Yoshi24517Chat Online 19:29, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Excuse me, what? I have to have sources for a format change? -Horatio Von Becker
Let's look at this diff: [1]. Does that look like a format change to you? Also, please remeber to sign your posts on talk pages using 4 tildes like this: ~~~~. Thank you. Yoshi24517Chat Online 19:59, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Okay, time out, sorry. I agree that adding detail to Karkat's section wasn't a format change, although I believe it was no less supported than the previous description. I got mad that you reverted my switch from (=== [troll name] ===) to (;[troll name]), because unlike (;[troll name]) that format allows linking to individual [troll names], which to me is a clear upgrade. Also, I'm not really sure what you mean by that signature advice. Where should I put the (~~~~) tags?
(And if I did delete your earlier reply, sorry, it was an accident.) - Horatio Von Becker
You should put the 4 tildes at the end of your response. Yoshi24517Chat Online 20:16, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Alright. And how should I make formatting changes without tripping your vandalism filter? -Horatio Von Becker 45.56.1.106 (talk) 20:21, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

IMHO, if you want to make that same edit again that I reverted, by all means, please do. But I think what you should do is discuss it on the talk page of the article, and see if people agree to your edit. If there is consensus for the edit, then you may do the edit. See here at WP:CONSENSUS if you don't know what a consensus is. Yoshi24517Chat Online 23:06, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

Alright, thanks. -Horatio Von Becker45.56.1.106 (talk) 23:16, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
And I forgot something. About the signature advice, all you need is the 4 tildes. The nowiki tags are there to stop the wiki markup from producing the signature automatically. If you don't understand what I mean from that see here at WP:SIGNATURE. Thanks! Yoshi24517Chat Online 23:30, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

AWB inconsequential edits

Hi Yoshi. Edits like this, this, or this don't meet the rules of use, as they are purely cosmetic edits. I see that you've been warned about this once in the past. Please carefully review any clean up edits you're making and ensure they make a substantial non-cosmetic change to the page. Using AWB to place orphan tags, etc. is fine, but using it to change template names from their redirects to the actual template name, change whitespace, etc. is not in the absence of another substantial change in the same edit. It's likely that your access to AWB will be removed if another administrator finds this issue in the future. ~ Rob13Talk 02:55, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

@BU Rob13:Hmm. I thought I set my AWB to skip an article if it only changed whitespace. It's no matter. I'll fix it again. Thanks! Yoshi24517Chat Online 17:50, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
Also BU Rob13, how can I change my AWB so that it will skip pages like these? Yoshi24517Chat Online 18:34, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
Skip --> General skip options --> Check the "Only genfixes", "Only whitespace", and "Only cosmetic changes" boxes. The only surefire way is to review every single edit you make with AWB, though, which is required by our bot policy anyway. ~ Rob13Talk 19:12, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey Sphilbrick! How you doing? Anyways, I see that you are an OTRS tool administrator. I applied for permission to access the info-en queue about 11 months ago, and it got denied because I didn't have enough experience. (I couldn't really tell what the reason was from the email.) Anywho, I feel like I have more experience with Wikimedia and Wikipedia in general, so, I mean to ask, what is the likelihood that if I apply now, 11 months later, my applications will be accepted? WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

Greetings, all!

We would like to announce the start of the 4th GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been three GA Cups, which were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 400 nominations listed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time.

The 4th GA Cup will begin on November 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on February 28, 2017), but this may change based on participant numbers. We may take a break in December for the holidays, depending on the results of a poll of our participants taken shortly after the competition begins. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same, as will the scoring.

Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on November 14, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges.

Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. We apologize for the delay in sending out this message until after the competition has started. Thank you to Krishna Chaitanya Velaga for aiding in getting this message out.

To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

New deal for page patrollers

Hi Yoshi24517,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:30, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help

Hi Yoshi24517,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

(Sent to all active AfC reviewers) MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:33, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Split Movie Edit

Hi Yoshi,

I removed the piece on the movie Split about it being a "thematic sequel to Unbreakable" because that piece of information is incredibly revealing to the plot of the film. It is the very definition of a spoiler, and should not be on the page. Please remove that portion as I had earlier so that future moviegoers don't have the ending spoiled. I saw a screening the other night of the film and director M. Night Shyamalan spoke and he asked everyone to please keep that information a secret. So on behalf of him and everyone else involved with the movie, as well as diehard fans, I ask you to please remove any information from Split's page regarding it being a sequel to Unbreakable. I put that in my edit explanation and thought it was sufficient enough. People don't want the movie ruined for them. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.195.38 (talk) 19:45, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

Vandalism?

Hello, the band's full name which I added to the Lee Hazlewood-article is actually as I stated, containing the offensive word s*x in it. I'm sorry, it wouldn't be my choice of name, but it is as it is. If there is a policy here on Wikipedia to shorten it as Carter USM it should have been stated above the article on that group, or on the redirecting page Carter_usm&redirect=no, don't you think so? If censorship is the decision I'll have to obey to it.
Anyway: your accusation of vandalism has no solid ground whatever. I was trying to add a direct link instead of a redirection. 83.85.143.141 (talk) 20:33, 17 November 2016 (UTC) (from the Netherlands)

Okay, that makes sense. It should mention it though, as Lee released also lots of singles, which actually I want to add in the next days. So this was no vandalism at all. It was an omission I was repairing. 83.85.143.141 (talk) 20:57, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm more thinking about a lack of patience on your side. Instead of punishing you could have explained your point of view, so we could have decided that I can have my time to add the singles and split the discography into an album and a singles section. You would be very glad about my proposal; instead I'm now very frustrated about your lack of confidence aka WP:AGF. 83.85.143.141 (talk) 21:35, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

@83.85.143.141: If you want to add the singles and the discography, by all means, go for it. Just don't add the "Only the albums" part. That kind of makes it sound confusing. Go ahead and add the singles. Yoshi24517Chat Online 22:05, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

CIA activities in Yemen

This was part of a series of edits I did in 2008 to try to map out per-country history of the agency in a more objective and comprehensive way. The stimulus was reading books of the Steve Coll genre. The effort didn't take off. I don't think anybody really cares about the topic in a long-term way, at least not as much as news about Joe the Plumber. Erxnmedia (talk) 15:06, 20 November 2016 (UTC)

BBC 12-hour Editathon - large influx of new pages & drafts expected

AfC Reviewers are asked to be especially on the look out 08:00-20:00 UTC (that's local London time - check your USA and AUS times) on Thursday 8 December for new pages. The BBC together with Wikimedia UK is holding a large 12-hour editathon. Many new articles and drafts are expected. See BBC 100 Women 2016: How to join our edit-a-thon. New page patrol

Especially for the widely publicized BBC editathon, we want to welcome and reward new contributors for their work. Things like categorization and adding internal links require minimal effort, so consider helping yourself instead of putting up the scary tags that may deter future contributions MusikAnimal talk 18:17, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Kindly asking you stop doing this for new articles, at least until the editathon is over. We'll get to the pages. The ones that are not patrolled are already indicated at Special:NewPagesFeed as lacking categories, etc., and we will help add them. Tagging is not doing any good here. Thanks for your understanding MusikAnimal talk 18:19, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
Oh thanks MusikAnimal. I completely forgot that was going on. I think it ends at noon my time if I'm correct (UTC-8, correct me if I'm wrong). I'll begin editing again there. I almost thought your message was a Mass Message. Anyways, Thanks for reminding me! Yoshi24517Chat Online 18:23, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
I appreciate it! But this rule of thumb, or recommendation if you will, applies to all new pages, not just those part of an editathon. The tags you added are perfectly valid, and not inherently wrong, but it should take you all of a few minutes to help add them yourself – with that you hopefully will walk away with a bigger sense of reward than you would tagging how every many pages you could in the same amount of time. Just my two cents! MusikAnimal talk 18:27, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello Yoshi24517. Your closure should be logged in WP:RESTRICT. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 14:41, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Hey EdJohnston, could you do it for me? I've tried reading the logs currently there, and I'm not understanding how to do one. If you can't, could you at least point me to the right section to do it? Thanks. Yoshi24517Chat Online 16:36, 9 December 2016 (UTC)

Thanks EdJohnston! However, I only closed it because it sounded like he agreed to the ban, based off of the wording written. However, I guess I did find consensus to enact the ban. Yoshi24517Chat Online 04:06, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Ivan The Terrible Edit

My edit is very "constructive"; the page makes it appear as though Ivan introduced Serfdomn. This is completely factually and historically inaccurate as Serfdom was only introduced decades after his death. I am keeping the edit. If you wish to argue otherwise, use the talk page of the Ivan The Terrible entry; but it is extensively documented that serfdom was introduced by tsar Boris Godunov. --186.13.7.245 (talk) 19:59, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Red-linked category

Hi Yoshi

Many thanks for removing the deleted category from your userpage. I had a few redlinked categories myself, until it was pointed out to me how they got in the way of maintenance work.

Wikipedia editors have a fair amount of leeway on how to what to do our user pages ... but the problem with redlinked categories is that they don't only exist on user pages -- they create an error in the category system. Thanks again for helping. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:00, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

@BrownHairedGirl: Thanks. I liked it just cause it looked cool on my user page (with Twinkle is not something to brag about, lol) but then I looked at the page you linked, and saw what you meant. Sorry about that, and thanks for telling me. Yoshi24517Chat On Vacation 22:21, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

The future of NPP and AfC

Voting for coordinators has now begun HERE and will continue through/to 23:59 UTC Monday 06 March. The coordinators will do their best for for the advancement of the improvement of NPP and AfC and generally keep tracks on the development of those things. Coordinators have no additional or special user benefits, but they will be 'go to' people and will try to keep discussions in the right places. This very much involves this project too, especially with growing renewed interest around the site about what WP:ACTRIAL was all about.

March 2017 WikiCup newsletter

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. It would have been 5 points, but when a late entrant was permitted to join the contest in February, a promise was made that his inclusion would not result in the exclusion of any other competitor. To achieve this, the six entrants that had the lowest positive score of 4 points have been added to the 64 people who otherwise would have qualified. As a result, some of the groups have nine contestants rather than eight. Our top four scorers in round 1 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, last year's winner, led the field with two featured articles on birds and a total score of 674.
  • European Union Iry-Hor, a WikiCup newcomer, came next with a featured article, a good article and a tally of 282 bonus points for a score of 517. All these points came from the article Nyuserre Ini, an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh,
  • Japan 1989, another WikiCup newcomer, was in joint third place at 240. 1989 has claimed points for two featured lists and one good article relating to anime and comedy series, all of which were awarded bonus points.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 shared third place with five good articles and thirteen good article reviews, mostly on naval vessels. He is also new to the competition.

The largest number of DYKs have been submitted by Vivvt and The C of E, who each claimed for seven, and MBlaze Lightning achieved eight articles at ITN. Carbrera and Peacemaker67 each claimed for five GAs and Krishna Chaitanya Velaga was well out in front for GARs, having reviewed 32. No featured pictures, featured topics or good topics yet, but we have achieved three featured articles and a splendid total of fifty good articles.

So, on to the second round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! response to my recent edit

Hello Yoshi,

As part of a Wiki Education Foundation course at UC Berkeley, my group and I have been updating the Clean Water Rule page and noticed that there was a page for Waters of the United States which we feel should redirect to Clean Water Rule due to their overlapping subject matter. The Clean Water Rule is often referred to as the WOTUS rule and the content on that page is included in the page for Clean Water Rule, albeit lacking completeness.

Please reconsider your reversion. I noticed that it was instantaneous and suspect the use of a bot was in play?

I have a question. I have seen bots at work, and would like to start having my own bot. I would like to use AWB for it, on CHECKWIKI task 1, with Templates using the word "template" in the actual template. It would just find and replace {{Template with {{. Would that be a good idea for a bot? I know what I want to name it, but the name I want to use is already taken. See here for an example. Would it be a good idea. Let me know. Thanks! It's really up to you whether you think this is worthwhile or not. If you need further opinions to decide, I suggest you ask on Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard - although that is not the place for requests for bot approvals, it is the place for discussing bot-related issues on Wikipedia.
If/when you're ready to apply, follow the process at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval.

Hi,

Yoshi24517. I am messaging you because I have been editing the article "Pan Orthodox Synod." The original creator/editor has been structuring the article in an overyly biased manner that does not reflect the format of encyclopedia, but is instead very idiosyncratic and designed to propagate personal views on the subject, some of which are objectively and factually incorrect.

Until recently I was reluctant to communicate with the person doing that because I have dealt with such people in the past and have found them to be very stubborn and unwilling to develop a true consensus. They seem interested only in advansing their agenda while bashing the people they disagree with. Such behaviour and articles are unworthy of the encyclopedia format Wikipedia uses.

For a long time, I was editing the article accordingly without an account. But recently the original/editor has gotten very agressive with his turning the article into propaganda for his idiosyncratic views and so that resulted in my getting equally aggressive in attempting to revert the article to its previous balance. Regretably, though, the last few edits were done sloppily and I ended up with a warning about being blocked. This prompted me to create the account and contact you. I hope you can get back at me and understand my position.

Here is a list of examples:

1) The previous editors put the Orthodox Church in America in an ambivalent light towards the Council. As a member of that Church, I can tell you that is not true at all. See for example, this article: https://oca.org/news/headline-news/holy-synod-issues-statement-petitions-on-the-holy-and-great-council

Our scholars were also among the drafters of a letter sent to every Church urging them to attend and not give in to the pressure of extremists voices subjecting certain Churches to pressure not to attend. Here is the letter http://myocn.net/over-1000-orthodox-scholars-urge-the-council-to-be-held-in-june-2016/ (notice all the scholars from the OCA).

I edited the section to reflect this reality, but the editors keep reverting it to their biased way. Therefore, I consider them to be vandalizing the article, since they are doing it repeatedly.

2) They provided the coat of arms of the pullout Churches, but not the attendee. This was a very deliberate move designed to create an impression in the minds of the reader. Again, this is not encyclopedic, but propagandic in nature.

3) The letter of Patriarch Bartholomew was then referenced to in manner that is misrepresented. The proper translation of the letter can be seen here: https://panorthodoxcemes.blogspot.gr/2016/12/the-trute-traslation-in-english-of.html From the actual letter we can gather a few facts the Patriarch is not demanding deposition of the clerics in question. He is asking for admonishment. The true translation also reveals that the Patriarch is also not against the group's opposition to the Council per se, but to the way the group has been conducting their crusade. This is evident in the letter's description of the group. The Patriarch knows there are critics and knows two of the pulout Churches have taken a hard stand against the Council and the other two a reserved one. There is no criticism there. The difference between the pullout Churches and the group is that the pullout Churches have disagreed in a respectful manner while the group in question has been acting in extreme ways to the point of calling the Council "heretical" and implying its participants, especially the Patriarch himself such and pretending to be expressing the concience of the Church of Greece (which similar conduct has been denounced by the Holy Synods of other autoecphalous Churches, including the very Church of Greece herself). Here is the real attitude of the Church of Greece's, which is obviously very different from what is being promoted in the wikipedia article.

The wikipedia article also claims, using a very selective Catholic source, that it is unprecedented for the Holy Synod of a Local Church to cease communion with particular hierarchs of another Local Orthodox Church. This is obviously not true at all. Anyone who has read Church history knows that in the ancient Church anyone could and did break communion with whoever they felt necesarry. The most prominent example is the excommunications between Patriarch Michael Kerularios and Cardinal Humbert (a representative of Pope Leo, but not Leo himself) when the latter excommunicated the former. That is still practiced in the Church today. If those clergy from Greece have judged the Council in Crete to be "heretical" and the Ecumenical Patriarch a "heretic" then that pretty much says everything about "communion." They should either attend to the consequences of their actions or ceize their accusations. Also, they are involving themselves in a Pan Orthodox issue, so it is well within the perogatives of the EP to respond to them.

In summary, there is nothing wrong in the letter. It is just that the group in question does not want to be hindered and so sought to criticize it through misrepresentation.

Yoshi, I hope you consider this and agree that the article as it is is unworthy of wikipedia, which I am sure most readers would appreciate it if the article reflected an encyclopedic format, intead of using the page for mere propaganda of certain people own idiosyncratic views. I will try to clean it up and reason with the editor(s). But I have experience with such people and know they are often unwilling to reason and come to a consensus with those they disagree with. Please, don't block me for my attempts at cleaning up the article (though sometimes I am not so successful). Elorthodox (talk) 19:21, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Huggle "automated" reports

Could you explain what's going on with this diff? I was under the impression all reports via Huggle are approved by the editor making the report. If so, you need to include a rationale. If this is not the case, then using some form of "automated reporting" arguably violates the bot policy. Cold you explain exactly how that report was made? ~ Rob13Talk 01:38, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

@BU Rob13: Hey Rob! What Huggle does, is when somebody is on their 4th warning (e.g. received 4 warnings), and they vandalize again and somebody reverts them on Huggle, it automatically (or should I say, semi-automatically) posts a report at WP:AIV with the name of the vandalizing user, and it says to check the contribs of the user (for false positives). There is a preference that will let you do that instead of clicking on each revision manually and posting it (it saves time). Widr knows I do this, as I've had the function on for quite some time, and he just blocks them and we're all good. Let me know if you have any more questions. Yoshi24517Chat Very Busy 02:07, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Can you check the particular diff I posted? In that case the semi-auto report occurred at the same time as the 4th warning I believe. The editor did not edit after the 4th warning, so it was a mistaken report. ~ Rob13Talk 02:10, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
@BU Rob13: I thought this was vandalism, so I reverted it, and it posted the report at WP:AIV. If you have any more questions, let me know as I'm about to go eat dinner. Yoshi24517Chat Very Busy 02:13, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
The final warning came after that edit, so the report shouldn't have been made until another vandalism edit after the final warning. There's not really anything more to say; the AIV report has been declined. ~ Rob13Talk 02:20, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
@BU Rob13: You know what I think happened? I saw that edit before, so it warned for level 4 vandalism. Then I saw an edit made by them earlier, and saw it after the lvl 4 warning, and reverted it, which triggered the warning. Sorry about that. Yoshi24517Chat Very Busy 02:44, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

May 2017 WikiCup newsletter

The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, led the field with five featured articles, four on birds and one on astronomy, and a total score of 2049, half of which came from bonus points.
  • Japan 1989 was in second place with 826 points, 466 of which were bonus points. 1989 has claimed points mostly relating to anime and Japanese-related articles.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 took third place with two FAs, one GA and seven GARs, mostly on naval vessels or military personnel, scoring 543 points.
  • Other contestants who scored over 400 points were Freikorp, Carbrera, and Czar. Of course all these points are now wiped out and the 32 remaining contestants start again from zero in round 3.

Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.

So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Feedback on Norse colonizations

Hi Yoshi,

I didn't think it would make much of a difference regarding Norse claims in New England, I just thought the more people elaborated on that topic the better. Otherwise, perhaps you caught a typo I made. Thanks for the feedback — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.44.72.203 (talk) 01:20, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

The future of NPP and AfC/Work group

Hi Yoshi24517,

In view of the huge and sudden backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed since mid 2016, the WMF has begun a dialogue in a quest to examine the situation and possible solutions. Please consider commenting there if you have not already done so. It is highly recommended to read it all before it becomes too long to follow. The project is at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Analysis and proposal, and its talk page.

WikiCup 2017 July newsletter

The third round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 288 points being required to qualify for round 4. It was a hotly competitive round with all but four of the contestants exceeding the 106 points that was necessary to proceed to round 4 last year. Coemgenus and Freikorp tied on 288, and both have been allowed to proceed, so round 4 now has one pool of eight competitors and one of nine.

Round 3 saw the achievement of a 26-topic Featured topic by MPJ-DK as well as 5 featured lists and 13 featured articles. PanagiotisZois and SounderBruce achieved their first ever featured articles. Carbrera led the GA score with 10, Tachs achieved 17 DYKs and MBlaze Lightning 10 In the news items. There were 167 DYKs, 93 GARs and 82 GAs overall, this last figure being higher than the number of GAs in round 2, when twice as many people were taking part. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.

As we start round 4, we say goodbye to the fifteen or so competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).

If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Hi Yoshi24517. I have just proposed a new category for organizing stub templates, what do you say? Regards, --Fadesga (talk) 13:10, 10 August 2017 (UTC)

COI - of a different kind

Hi Yoshi24517. Because it involves New Page and AfC reviewers along with other maintenance workers (SPI, COIN), an informal chat has begun on some aspects of paid editing. See Conflict of Interest - of a different kind. Please add your thoughts there. It is not a debate or RfC.

WikiCup 2017 September newsletter

Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best man (or woman) win! Red category

Hello Yoshi,

Regarding your edit here, I understand that you like red categories, but... the trouble with categories is that they don't affect just your user page. Red categories create an error in the category system, and they interfere with the work of editors who perform category maintenance tasks at Special:WantedCategories—see WP:REDNOT for further details.

I would be grateful if you would take off the category, or at least change the category code to [[:Category:Wikipedians who actually have a job]], so that this category will not show up in Special:WantedCategories forever.

Thanks, -- Black Falcon (talk) 22:44, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Deleting libelous posts

Hi Yoshi. I've deleted libelous posts that are sourced to bad sources. How is that considered disruptive editing please? 27Invictus (talk) 22:14, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

@27Invictus: In the future, please explain what you are doing in edit summaries, they are there for a reason. If you don't leave an edit summary, nobody knows what the heck you are doing. Thank you. Yoshi24517Chat Online 22:17, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
@Yoshi24517: if you look at the editing history of the page, my team has been explaining this, and the page repeatedly reverts regardless. I've put a complaint in to Oversight, WF board, and legal now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27Invictus (talkcontribs) 22:19, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
@27Invictus: Can you please remind me which article you are talking about? Yoshi24517Chat Online 22:23, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
