Article Title: Microbial fuel cell https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Microbial_fuel_cell

In this article, most facts contain appropriate and reliable references but there are still some facts without references, for example, there are not reliable references for the second paragraph in “Nanoporous membrane” part.

Most sources are cited from academic presses and peer-reviewed journals. Some sources are cited from press releases (9,41) and one is from website (28). Most sources of the information are appropriate but press release and official websites are considered as poor sources. Citation [24] does not provide sufficient reference to the fact. Moreover, product website (28) might contain biased information. A few citations have been checked (12, 30, 33) and there is no evidence of close paraphrasing or plagiarism.

The material is relevant to the topic. However, the claim about the application of microbial fuel cell in education might be biased since the information is from an advertising website, which is not a reliable, independent publisher and does not show various perspectives in this field. This article introduces the subject from history, definition, applications, types and generation process. None of the viewpoints are overrepresented or underrepresented. Some missing information should be added. In the third paragraph of History, the information of people who considered Bennetto as foremost authority is missed. In second paragraph of Application-Biosensor, the claim about BOD value of wastewater should be clarified.

In the talk page, six conversations about this topic have been started by the Wikipedia community. YUAN JI (talk) 21:09, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In taxonomy, the Methanobacteria are a class of the Euryarchaeota.[1] Several of the classes of the Euryarchaeota are methanogens and the Methanobacteria are one of these classes.

Applications Microbial community including Methanobacteriacan proceed anaerobic digestion, which has been used in biomass digestion to convert organic waste and provide clean energy. This method can ease energy shortage and CO2 emission problem especially in rural area.[4] The overgrowth of Methanobacteria has been included in breath tests which is used to evaluate patients' particular gastrointestinal disorders.[5]By adding these information, this article can introduce the applications of Mechanobacteria in environment management and disease control. Methanobacteria can be used in biomass conversion as well as energy production through Anaerobic digestion (AD) process. — Preceding unsigned comment added by YUAN JI (talkcontribs) 23:56, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Applications

Methanobacteria can be used in biomass conversion as well as energy production through Anaerobic digestion (AD) process. Microbial community is used in Anaerobic digestion(AD) to convert organic wastes into clean energy by reducing chemical and biological oxygen demand in the wastes.[1] Solid-state anaerobic digestion, which contains six genera of methanogens including Methanobacteria, can ferment rice straw and then produce methane. Since conventional treatment is burning rice straw in field, applying Methanobacteria to waste disposal process can reduce the air pollution caused by straw burning and also alleviate energy shortage problem, especially in rural areas.[2] During biomethanation process, insoluble organic material and higher molecular mass compounds will first be transformed into simple carbon compounds. These break-down products will then be fermented to acetic acid, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. Eventually, the acetic acids can be fermented by different methanogenic bacteria to produce methane.[3]

The product of Methanobacteria in human body can be used to test diseases. Methane in breath is produced by anaerobic methanobacteria in human colon as a metabolic end product. [4] The status of Methanobacteria product detected in breath tests can be used to evaluate patients' particular gastrointestinal disorders. It is shown that the proportion of breath methane excreters among patients with colorectal cancer is much higher than that of normal people. However, methane breath status might be influenced by variable factors existing in diagnostic procedures, limiting the usage of breath methane test in cancer diagnosis. [edit]

In the edit of "Methanobacteria", the added subsection titled "Applications" improves the structure and organization of the article as a whole and also highlights the importance of methanobacteria in a global context. The structure of this subsection is strong, as it clearly divides the information into subparagraphs pertaining to both ecological and medical relevance. Since the original article was comprised of only 2 sentences, the information added in the edit is able to provide more depth to the subject, giving a better understanding of its significance. The sources cited are relevant and provide adequate support to the overall edit.

One improvement that can be made is checking the spelling and grammar, as there are a number of errors. Some examples of these errors can be seen in the title of the subsection, "Apllications", and in the last sentence, "limits in cancer diagnose" which should be written as "cancer diagnosis" instead. There can be improvements made to the subject-verb agreements and sentence structure for added clarity and improved flow. The first introductory paragraph can also be expanded, as it gives a brief overview of the taxonomy of methanobacteria but no clear information on its function. Perhaps a sentence or two summarizing its metabolic processes can be added, or an elaboration of the metabolism of methanogens to highlight their significance amongst other bacteria. Throughout the "Applications" section, more citations can be added, as there should be 1 citation for each fact. The sentence "It is controversial to illustrate..." can also be modified to be a bit more clear and to maintain neutrality of the overall tone.
