- Where did you get this?
Userboxes
Hey, thanks for organizing my userboxes. How do you make a box like that?
- I didn't make that. It's a template. There are a lot out there like that, when you look at other user pages you'll see them. But you might also want to look at "Category:Userboxes" and "Category:User namespace templates". You'll see a lot of things under those categories. If you are unsure how to find those categories, just Copy (without the quote marks) and paste into your Search box. Those should come up. Good luck. — Maile (talk) 21:43, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks.
Crack pic
Hi, I know about the phenomenon you are trying to illustrate, so no problem there. However, your diagnosis about how the crack originated, although probably correct, nonetheless strikes me as original research, something that is not allowed. That said, I have myself seen many articles talking about infrastructure problems (roads, pipes, foundations) messed up by this same process. These articles usually come with photos. I bet you can find one that meets all of our reliable source standards. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 19:22, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Okay. Where would I look? Is this a good one? <ref>{{cite web|last=Boettcher|first=Ross|title=Drought costs homeowners as foundations crack|url=http://www.omaha.com/article/20120917/MONEY/709179972/1697|work=Omaha.com|publisher=Omaha World-Herald|accessdate=26 March 2013}}</ref> XndrK (talk) 17:15, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Please allow me to wax socratic by asking whether you think that reference meets or does not meet the rather simple criteria in our reliable sources guideline? NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 03:49, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, yeah, I think that works. Thx. However, I embarrassingly lost the article where I put the picture momentarily. Just for example, does the file on Commons have a list of pages it's used on? I'm too lazy to look. :) XndrK (talk) 17:15, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Being too lazy to look is not a good way to inspire experienced eds to help you learn your skills. That said there is such a link. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 17:32, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

- Btw, why is the reference broken? When I click on it, it doesn't do anything. Did I mess something up?
- (A) I don't know; (B) you could try adding a <reflist> tag at the end of your talk page, or (C) Add "nowiki" tags to the phrase, which is what I usually do though your mileage may vary. I'm going to take the liberty of doing that to your comment (usually this is frowned on see WP:TALK) but I'm doing it for demonstration purposes, and trust you won't cry foul. If you want to later remove the "nowiki" tags, its your comment so go for it. Or ask me and I will. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 17:32, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Okay. It's ugly, but whatever. I'll try to figure it out. Thanks. How about I try it again?
- I got it! I figured out the problem! I cited using the news template instead of the Web template. Just to make certain, I'm going to do it again, except I'm going to use the Web template.[1]
- WHAT ON EARTH??? --XndrK (talk) 17:43, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- I haven't played much with this on user pages either. So this is a test[2] NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 18:19, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

- Okay, so now it does work. <sigh> XndrK (talk) 00:06, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- I'm actually going to keep this, in case a similar problem pops up with anyone else. Just letting you know. XndrK (talk) 00:07, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Howdy there, Tex. Thought you also might find the Teahouse an interesting place. — Maile (talk) 20:14, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
- Funny. I thought I was already part of the Teahouse. Haven't used it tho. Thanks for reminding me. --XndrK (talk) 21:44, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- That's OK. I just stuck the invitation on here in case you've never seen it before. By the way, I straightened out the alignment of your userboxes on your main page. Your ceiling picture was so low on the page that it was knocking off the alignment of the userboxes. I also left a navbox at the bottom of your main page that will let you browse through a lot of other available userboxes out there. Have fun editing! — Maile (talk) 01:19, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

The last sentence in the History section of Violet, Texas doesn't mean anything. Did you omit something? "Louis Petrus and Charles Hoelscher to Reverend Verdauger" Rojomoke (talk) 14:42, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Twinkle Talkback message.
Hi, I saw the "test", and because you're my student and I don't want you to get shot at on Wikipedia, I'm just telling you that some users prefer it if you used Template:Whisperback instead as they find it less "intruding". Hello! Per Wikipedia:Signatures, the use of templates in signatures is not permitted. The following markup provides the same output without the use of a template:

Note that the inclusion of external links is prohibited as well. In my view, the rule probably isn't intended to include other Wikimedia Foundation websites (such wmflabs.org), but it would be prudent to discuss the matter at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Or, if you'd like to simply remove that link, you can use this markup:

Hank the Cowdog
Saw your message from 2013 on Talk:Hank the Cowdog. If you ever set up an HC task force, count me in--I've created 2 articles about different books in the series, but had them swiped and reverted. I know a good bit about the series and have been reading it for over 10 years. White Arabian mare (Neigh) 15:13, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, that would be great, but first I'd have to set up an HC task force. Honestly, I've really slowed down on WP editing (I haven't edited in three months from today, for example), but that would be a great project to get me restarted. --XndrK (talk | contribs) 22:48, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- Well, if you get it going, I will try to be a top contributor. These books deserve better articles than they have. One thing I'd like to see included in every article is a section about the songs in each book, because they add so much to them. White Arabian mare (Neigh) 14:59, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically List of political parties in Germany, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. 2019 US Banknote Contest
US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
