Thanks for your edits in Lokenath Brahmachari article. I have recently moved the article Lokenath Brahmachari from Baba Lokenath Brahmachari. Baba is an honorific title and totally unnecessary in title (it is like creating article with title "Savoir Jesus Christ". But, I am still not satisfied. I feel the spelling of the word should be Loknath and not Lokenath. If you know Bengali I request your opinion on this. Since the last talk page entry was in 2006, I have not posted in Talk Page. --Tito Dutta (Send me a message) 08:08, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

This 86.46 character is apparently vandalizing bird articles by putting in plausibly referenced but incorrect dimensions, according to this discussion. If you run across any more in your patrolling, you should probably just revert them. —JerryFriedman (Talk) 23:44, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

So glad you've taken an interest in the park and preserve as I've taken to adding references to an article that has been titled as lacking them for nearly two years. Admirable of you. But in following my lead, it seems to me that you're dogging my steps a bit in ways that I'm sure you don't wish to. I'm sure that we could be discussing these things rather than stumbling all over each other. Very kind of you to help me out, but I suspect we could do better together rather than just venturing to correct while one of us (that would be, well, me) started to do this and you seemed to have been motivated by that. Again, thanks, and thanks for your consideration. RangerRichard (talk) 00:01, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Got your message while I was working on mine. Your advice is well-received by me. Generally, as odd as this sounds, I work on Catalan wikipedia, but I could work on the Catalan version of this entry as it's so, well, poor and lacking in so many regards. Living in Yakutat and being a park service employee I felt an obligation in this regard on the English entry. Speaking Catalan is just one of those weird things. Generally I don't get involved in English Wikipedia. My problem with one of your substantive edits (and it is contrary to my approach on Catalan Wikipedia, not that this matters to you or anyone else per se) is not to treat the park and preserve as two NPS units. I understand writing one article about them (as is done on Catalan Wikipedia, of course). But stats about them should be given separately and concomitantly IMHO, seeing as how the NPS Index does so, and counts its total of park units by counting its 6 eponymous (homonymous) parks and preserves twice. This is more than an administrative matter. The activities that can legally be carried out in these areas are vastly different. They are managed vastly differently, even if jointly. I would spell this out in future edits, and it should be spelled out. It was part of the great debate in establishing the parks and preserves after Carter's declarations of the various national monuments in Alaska in 1978, followed by the curtailment of that power in 1980 under the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. It's all well and good to give joint figures as well, but I believe a conversation on this matter was necessary before stripping out my separation of the total figures (while not removing the total figures). Again, thank you for your interest, even if we've clashed a bit inadvertently RangerRichard (talk) 00:12, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
WH-- Not a problem!! I appreciated you working through the red text. It was driving me crazy. The templates on Catalan Wikipedia are similar but have nuances that caused my errors. So I really do appreciate your help. RangerRichard (talk) 00:22, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Eep, sorry about that. Firefox has this glitch when I edit, and sometimes (frequently) erases everything in the edit screen. Usually I catch it and manage to undo, but occasionally I miss it...usually due to being ready for bed or otherwise to addlepated to figure out what's going on. Thanks for catching that. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:57, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- It's quite alright - I wouldn't have minded a little blame. :-) To be completely honest, I'd forgotten I'd made the edit in the first place; I was looking at my edit history this morning, and had an "oh, where did that come from?" moment when I saw it. Never a good sign when that happens...which is what led to my looking at the edit history, to remind myself what was going on.

Altered rationale: Noel "Toca" Rivera
Hello WikHead. I am just letting you know that I deleted Noel "Toca" Rivera, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 23:45, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- Though I agree with the CSD A7, it was indeed a word for word copyvio as well, as short as that may have been. -- WikHead (talk) 23:49, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it's an either-or situation. However, I chose the A7 route for deletion as I could imagine that it'll otehrwise be re-created as a re-worded version which would not be a copyright violation! If it had been a longer article, I would more likely have gone with the copyvio deletion. Regards, PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 09:18, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- Ah yes, for the sake of the deletion log, I clearly grasp your angle. The article screamed A7 to me at first glance, but I followed the links to make sure the creator had nothing to dispute and stall the A7 process with. This is when I spotted the copyvio... a rock-solid nugget that the creator couldn't possibly contest ;). -- WikHead (talk) 18:15, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Mel Sembler page
Hi! Noticed you reverted some edits on the Mel Sembler article that were made by user 208.69.24.150. It is worth noting that ip address 208.69.24.150 has an rDNS that resloves to 208-69-24-150.sembler.com, and that this is not the first time users from that address space have deleted content from this page. Hi, I changed your edit here - the lack of a reflist was intentional, as the reference is used on the page which this template is transcluded into. I've changed your cloaking, which removed the reference, to an includeonly, which seems to have done the trick. -mattbuck (Talk) 23:38, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

82.4.68.91
Hello there, user: 82.4.68.91 has continued with the constant vandalism of Haitham al-Haddad. I have tried using conflict resolution via talk (on the article and the user talk page) but there is no point in mediating with him. All points I have written are properly sourced and no user has disputed the information I have put on there. It's all getting a little tedious. Could you help out? Hey, I see you made the references on Haitham al-Haddad pretty by using Reflinks. How do I do this, too? Blix1900 (talk) 14:46, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Haitham Al Haddad article
Sir, I wish to report again that several users are attempting to block me from editing this page. I have done nothing wrong, all I am doing is reverting the article to how it was originally. They want to input negative assertions about this person, which amount to nothing other than personal attacks. Yet when I try to undo their changes it seems they are 'ganging up' on me by making threats against me. They want t. o ban me permanantely and prevent me allowing me to have my day. I feel victimised, harassed and bullied and am getting upset about it.
I am doing this because Mr Haddad is someone I know as he is the Imam at my local mosque. He also has young children and if they see what has been written about him it would cause this a great deal of distress.
I have tried to mediate with the user Blixx but he/she has ignored me and has continued regardless.
Please assist me with this issue. Shafic Essop — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaeso (talk • contribs) 21:19, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- WikHead should note that Shaeso isn't as innocent as he looks. His edits on Haitham al-Haddad have been followed by ad-hominem attacks on anyone who didn't sycophantly edit the page. On my talk page, he has abused me verbally. His ignorance is so astounding, he thought the great George Orwell was Henry M. Jackson before telling me on my talk page that he looks like a 'pedo' (the comment is still on there for people to see).
- Furthermore, Shafic Essop looks to be a sockpuppet for Haddad. Have a look at his twitter, ad-hominem attack after ad-hominem attack to anyone to questions his handler, Haddad. But of course, when he speaks to Admins, he goes all Walter Mitty. He's a nasty piece of work. If any of my edits were wrong or unverifiable, these guys would sue at the drop of a hat. The links have been syndicated throughout the web. He hasn't mediated with me on my talk page other than calling me a 'zionist' or 'neocon' (I am neither).
- Just thought I'd let you know. I've never actually edited Wiki before until I happened to read the original edit of Haitham al-Haddad, before noticing I could participate in the editing of the page. I did not expect such nasty, ad-hominem attacks. Usually, I preoccupy myself with more tasteful things. Blix1900 (talk) 14:31, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

- I've noticed a big change in how the referencing is being done lately. Apparently the wiki software has changed to where we can put the reference details into the actual reference section. That way the prose has less clutter - and instead of a bunch of |y=yada in the prose section ... it's just a <ref name>. That actually does make it a little less intimidating for new users who click on the "edit" button. Anyway ... rather than learn it on high profile articles .. I figured I'd try to understand how it works on some old obscure stuff I had created years ago. Actually though .. is it a subject you're interested in? Would you like to work together and build the article up beyond a stub? Personally I love NASCAR .. and the history of it is something I've always enjoyed working on. I thank you your help in the articles about botany and I hope you will write about genera and families in future. I ask you: Can you find more people willing writing in tropical trees, genera and families?
You could enlarge about this topic in Wikipedia forums that could be interested about these type of articles. They are welcome too. I thank you very much. Really there are few people interested in botany and you can find information in other Wikipedias or translate information from other languages. If you are not very interested in write about botany or your friends are not interested, you can tell them, that botany is a good way to practise another language and learn about vocabulary.
I am from Spain and my mother language is not English language, besides my english language is really bad. To me the main aim is to gather the abundant information disperse already on wikipedia, but the information is not in the place where people seek is looking for it. Re: Need help with my page, asap please.
Hello again, Thank you for responding! Well, the picture is no biggie. As far as the title, I would like you to rename it as "The Dan Plan" but only if you think my reasoning is sufficient. "The Dan Plan" is what my English group and I mainly aimed to write about, there are many persons named Dan McLaughlin and I would find it inappropriate to title our Dan McLaughlin as "photographer". I wouldn't even mind the title being, "Dan McLaughlin (golfer)" but this may not be appropriate since he hasn't gone professional in golfing yet. Either way, let me know what you think, I'm new to wiki editing and am strictly writing this article for a group project in my college English class. Also, I don't see how the article is written as an "advertisement"? If you could let me know what I can change, I would be happy to. Charice
Charice is a very versatile singer, she sings all kinds of pop songs. She's not restricted to just singing teen pop and electropop alone, in fact she is currently being marketed as a pop and R&B singer. For example, her song Pyramid is listed as pop and R&B. I also included soul since she also sings soul music, an example of this is her EP Charice which is listed as pop and soul. Charice also sings hip hop songs, one of her favorite music to listen to. One example of her, singing a hip hop song is her song "Reset", which she co-wrote. In the song "Reset" she rapped at the bridge part. She even have songs of genres I no longer included, to make the list of genres in her background information a lot simpler. I just included the genres in which she is being marketed with, and a few other well known genres. I don't get why Charice is being restricted to just subgenres of pop music, when other less versatile and new American singers who haven't even released half the number of songs Charice did, are even allowed to use "pop" and were even allowed to place more types of genres in their Wikipedia background, including genres in which they don't even have a song.ChasterUnit0 (talk) 18:39, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia Help Survey
Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

J. Bronkhorst
Good morning! Perhaps you can help, I am over my head technically speaking.
On this page Johannes Bronkhorst is listed as J. Bronkhorst in the heading because the full name was taken already. When we type the name, we are immediately taken to the biography of a Dutch painter (who has, it seems, a slightly different name! (Johannes van Bronckhorst). There is a disambiguration system, but I'm not yet familiar with how that works. Perhaps you can help? I am sorry to take up your time with this request, but if J. Bronkhorst could be changed to Johannes Bronkhorst, that would be a huge help. Looking at his work, some of which I have to hand, I see he always gives his name as Johannes Bronkhorst, never J. Bronkhorst. Thanks as ever. RoverDingbat comment added by RoverDingbat (talk • contribs) 08:47, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi I am new to editing Wikipedia but would like to work on the New Economics page because it is my area of study. Looking at previous edits I saw that although work has been done you changed it back to a page that links new economics to unrelated topics. I am just curious of the reasoning for this and if it is possible to establish new economics as an independent page. Thank you Kornbluh (talk) 14:36, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Guest reviewer!
I can see lots of barnstars in your talk page! Excellent, I hope those are encouraging you (see this past discussion). BTW, I am currently doing GA review of Independence Day (India). This is a special review for me. Can you please add few points (at least 1-2) in Talk:Independence Day (India)/GA1 as a guest reviewer (if possible specially on Prose style, Writing style, Grammar)? If you don't have time you don't need to read the long discussion of GA review at all, if you find any problem, that simply means it has not been fixed still, you can directly include the point without checking past discussions. --Tito Dutta ✉ 00:14, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Intersted to nominate your name as Admin
I am also interested to nominate your name as an admin. I tried to search in your talk archives to see that if anyone has desired this already, and I have found a similar discussion started by User:Royalbroil.
Thanks to your fragmented discussion style, I could not understand anything in that thread. so, I searched User:Royalbroil's talk archive too and found your replies. That time you said– After giving this some very serious thought, I've decided not to accept nor decline your proposal at this time..
Currently you have 96 thousand edits, it'll be great if you become an admin at the time/before completing 100,000 edits! Since admin Royalbroil requested this first, if he agrees, he will nominate and I'll re-nominate (his last edit was on July 25, he is active in Wikipedia).
- Interesting fact
Though you told I've decided not to accept nor decline your proposal at this time, I have found an interesting fact, Royalbroil asked you to become an admin on 22 September 2011, and in the very next month, October 2011 you made 7041 edits in Wikipedia which is much higher (more than double) than your average edits! Motivation? :-D
Let me know what you think! --Tito Dutta ✉ 02:28, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you kindly for your words of encouragement Tito. I'm afraid however, that at present, my personal life may not allow me the time and focus required to pursue RfA candidacy the way I'd like to. Though adminship is not really something I'd thought of or considered prior to being approached by User:Royalbroil, it has since become an idea that I'm likely to follow up with in the future, and possibly even before year's end. There are days when I think of possible future adminship with a great deal of confidence, but there are also times when I observe various admins impressively dealing with situations that are clearly outside of my comfort zone... and I become a bit hesitant as a result. I'm still not a hundred percent sure of what exact area of adminship I'd like to apply myself to, but I'm fully aware that it's one of the first questions RfA candidates are asked, and something that requires a straight forward answer. I frequently ask myself whether additional admin tools would actually enhance my daily editing routine for the betterment of the project, or if they'd simply be unnecessary for the work I generally do. I'd be more than happy to regularly deal with backlogs of expired PRODs, redirect reversals, CSD R3's and other non-controversial admin tasks as such, or occasionally apply protection to a high-abuse page, or block a disruptive user who's in the process of running rampant. My preference would be to start off small and gradually allow that experience to guide me towards bigger things. If we can all agree that there's currently a shortage of admins, I'd probably be a very trustworthy candidate to help pick up some of the slack. Other's in the community however, may be much more supportive of a candidate more willing to jump in biting off larger tasks.
- I'm still unable to provide a definite answer to this question Tito, but your recent support has made it clear that I really should put this idea on fast-track. I'll make sure to let you know the moment a decision has been reached. Stay well, and happy editing! -- WikHead (talk) 22:48, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

- Thank you Buster Seven, your supportive comments are probably much more encouraging than what you think. I know full well that there are some controversial areas of adminship such as dealing with COI issues and dispute resolution that could quickly turn my favourite recreational pass-time into an unpleasant chore. I realise that I wouldn't necessarily be required to involve myself in these specific areas as an admin, but a good admin (IMO) should at least be able to provide quick and efficient advice and direction to users when approached with related questions and complaints. As it is, I'm often asked by users to assist them in these specific areas, but always lost for a good confident response... and an unwillingness to become too involved. On a personal level, I think this is the one outstanding issue I still need to work on before walking into RfA. The rest, I'm sure would naturally fall into place through time and further experience. I'm quite certain there will soon be a day that I actually wake up feeling like an admin, and you can bet your bottom dollar that you'll see me at RfA the moment that happens. I'll be looking forward to seeing you there. Thanks again for your comments Buster, have yourself a great day, and happy editing! -- WikHead (talk) 16:47, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- My observation is that there is a change in the air. It seems to me that many new administrators are handed the mop more for their interpersonal skills rather than their knowledge of the rules and guidelines. A gentle reminder has more staying power than a slap on the wrist. Your way of being you will and your ability to trust yourself will shine through the dust storms of high drama. When that morning comes, let me know. I'll be first in line with a B7 Seal of Approval. ```Buster Seven Talk 20:25, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

- On another note, I began posting some follow-up comments to your thread on Dennis Brown's talk page, but at the last minute decided not to click the save button as I realised I had become a bit too wordy and figured it might be inappropriate to dump such a large novel on his talk page like that. He is however, at least 99% correct in his observations and says much of what I was saying and thinking when I was first approached with this question in September 2011 (archived here and here). The large talk page post I aborted, came at a very clear moment of thought and decision, and it really felt good at that moment to let it all out. I already feel so much more relaxed knowing for certain that I will not be entertaining further thoughts of RfA for at least another full year. Comments made by Dennis come from a more honest and straight forward voice than what I'd hear if I'd asked the same questions myself, and are very much in line with my original thoughts and gut feelings. Though I know I possess the right attitude and personality to someday be a valuable RfA candidate, the truth is that I currently lack experience with the specific skill-set required. I believe I know exactly what the wiki community is looking for in a new admin, so it's probably very wise of me to wait until I have the right stuff to offer, and continue having fun with what I do best in the meantime. Decision made
I needed read long paragraphs to learn the decision!Tito Dutta ✉ --08:59, 24 August 2012 (UTC) name added in the signature at by Tito Dutta ✉ at 10:04, 24 August 2012 (UTC)- I'm very sorry Mr. Dutta . I have no problem admitting that this question has a strange way of making me feel a little uptight... to the point where a simple decision to wait another year, makes me feel like a hundred pound weight has just been lifted off my shoulders. The idea of future adminship excites my sense of something to look forward to, but in many ways I still feel like a new user after more than 4½ years of active service. There are still areas of the project I haven't explored, and other areas where I've barely scraped the surface. I'm still learning new things and depend on the advice of admins when things become unclear. I am thankful they are there to help guide me through. If I ever said "no" to this question, I'd never look back... so it's best I've decided to revisit it again in a year's time. It allows me peace of mind knowing that I'm not jumping into something that hasn't been very well thought through, which in turn allows me to bring so much more to the RfA table when I finally get there. It's a decision that presently buys me comfort. -- WikHead (talk) 20:49, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

- I wanted to add a note that if you decide you do want to pursue the bit, I would be happy to offer some guidance along the way. Reading some of your personally written comments gives me the feeling you have the right demeanor, but I would recommend taking 4-6 months of prep, only because of a lack of experience working the boards and demonstrating ability to judge consensus, etc. helping a a little at WP:DRN or WP:AIV or similar boards, getting at least 100-150 AFDs under your belt, that kind of stuff. I don't see any immediate problems and tend to think it would be a clean pass. I know some of this may seem a distraction compared to your regular work, but adminship comes wtih all the tools, so the average !voter likes to see a broader set of experience, or at least the last few months showing you can handle all those types of issues, even if you don't expect to work them. Sometimes, you have no choice with the bit as problems get thrown on your lap (see my talk page/archives for examples, it is a bulletin board for requests, but I don't mind.). It also shows you want to become an admin enough to learn the ropes, which may be a question you are still asking yourself. It is a catch 22, since you can't use the tools in project you are working on, except in the most uncontroversial ways, but at the same time, you may find helping a rewarding experience. I'm more a "helper" than "author", so it was a natural fit, but I didn't seek the bit unit I was here over 5 years and 18k edits myself. Regardless of what you decide, you are an exceptional editor here and a great asset to the project, so I would be happy to support you in whatever you decide. - No problem, and glad to help. I was slow to become an admin, but I think people that are anxious to become an admin are likely doing so for the wrong reasons. At the same time, you get called on to get involved in things that are not so pleasant, but necessary. Even if it slows you down a bit, it's the only way to really know for sure that everything worked as planned. -- WikHead (talk) 22:30, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- That is not a __ __ little star edit. So, they can create another thread in WP:VPT. I was actually trying to see some more incidences to find some similarities. I don't think we should fire the fox for this problem right now, let's wait for sometime before concluding anything (there are two reasons behind thinking this– 1) actually it is not a Firefox issue, someone reported in that Twinkle thread that they are doing
- I'm personally convinced it's a Firefox issue, but can't rule out the idea of stalled page-loads as the last user-post mentions. It does seem to happen more often when Wikipedia is experiencing database-lag though. Since this thread began, I've seen this issue happen here, as well as two or three other instances by IP contributors. -- WikHead (talk) 23:21, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

Eric Schlager
Dear Sir/Madam:
I very much appreciate your diligence in protecting the Wikipedia community from copyright violations, vandalism, and other licentious acts. It is comforting to know that individuals like yourself seek to promote the highest standards of integrity and morality. As a relatively new member to our community, I would respectfully request your assistance in helping me to publish this article on Eric Schlager in a format that would be acceptable to you and in accordance with Wikipedia's legally enforceable doctrines. I would very much appreciate you sending me the information for the deleted page so that I may revise such data to be in accordance with stated policy and procedure.
To address some of your stated concerns: (i) Nearly all of the published article was fact-based and included no opinions. While you note that certain material was cited to the Urban Land Institute website, in fact, if you closely analyze the citations, you will see that most of this information was previously published as generally available biographical data on the Bulfinch Companies website. (ii) Mr. Eric Schlager meets the generally accepted qualifications of being a notable entity as a result of the size of his company, civic leadership positions, mentions in national publications, etc...
I am willing to work with you to ensure the completeness and professionalism of this encyclopedic entry. In the future, I will run all pages by you before publication so that we may be able to avoid any unnecessary hindrances to future publication.
Thank you very much for your assistance.
Very Kind Regards.
Response to previous Conflict of Interest Post dated Aug. 3 on my Talk: You allege a conflict of interest. Lady Antebellum
I changed some genres for some Lady Antebellum songs because they are not "normal" country, some of them are very pop or pop/rock-heavy and in some cases (like Just A Kiss) there's more pop than country on it, so it shouldn't be noted as country only. Especially We Owned The Night is labelled as country and that's not the case. They might be labelled as country for promotion reasons which is why most sources say country but this isn't right, therefore I found it justified to change it. --79.199.23.153 (talk) 13:29, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Could you Help?
Can you help in a GA review? I have been requested to review Pakistan Independence day which is tomorrow (14 August) and have been requested to complete the review within tomorrow. So, only few hours in hand. I have accepted the peculiar challenge (I'll review from neutral point of view). But, I am worried I may mess up to do the review quickly. Can you have a look at the article add the most vital issues you find in the review page and/or watch my review and hold my collar immediately when you'll find I am getting too soft/strict towards the review.
Here is the review page link Talk:Independence Day (Pakistan)/GA1

I have requested the re-opening the Dispute Resolution mechanism for the Misha B article @ Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Archive 38 as the debate about neutrality has really flared up. on User talk:Steven Zhang who closed the original Dispute Resolution based on my suggestion...no one else in the dispute contributed.
or should I go to formal mediation? I make no pretence that I am a fan, I guess the majority articles about (living) people are started and mainly contributed by those who are 'fans', but my contibutions have been done in good faith regards neutrality (as a newbie I have made mistakes...like not spotting blogs) I always take personal criticism and attacks maybe too seriously but I have said I welcome genuine verifiable editing contributions from others, even when they remove my contributions, which can be seen from page history. DRN Why does the Misha article read like a magazine article? Too much information and way too biased
I would very much welcome a neutral viewpoint from someone not involved in the article.........Zoebuggie☺whispers 00:15, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Okay, I am trying to figure out why I cannot add an actual bregan D'arthe page. I am putting legitimate content, and keeping it as tidy as I can, so what is the problem? I made the base page and started looking up more details as i went, putting about 3 hours of work into it.Amaroyui (talk) 01:54, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
Re:Re:Bregan D'aerthe
Ah, so, instead of having a stand alone page for a group of people, you merge it with the city in which it belonged to, making no mention of it in the first place other than a redirect. Makes sense, let's do that with other things: PETA must go to Norfolk, Glaad must become L.A., congress must be put under Washington D.C. Look, I saw that there wasn't an actual page for it, so I made an account to fix that. If the Do'urden and Baenre families get their own pages, why can't Bregan D'aerthe have one, I can name at least six characters involved, just off of the top of my head, and the books are ongoing, so it isn't just an open and shut situation. I didn't do this to upset the applecart, but putting one's time and effort into something and it being dropped due to a discussion you had no part of makes me not want to even contribute. Also, I didn't repost because of it being removed, I did it because i was adding new content, and i thought it was my error.Amaroyui (talk) 02:14, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there, two more points form my side. Please avoid marking good-faith attempts such as the one here as not constructive and take that especially into account whilst using the rollback-feature or dealing with a newbie.[2]
- On a more general note, I don't consider AfD results as some rigid final word in the sense that they always need a new discussion to be overturned [3] with all edits otherwise to be automatically reverted.[4]. While I appreciate that you referred Amaroyiu to me, any reversion of content addition should be based also on an editorial judgment of yours and you should take responsibility for it. Take the case of actual deletion after AfD: A repost should only be tagged for speedy deletion with {{db-repost}} if it is either more or less the same as the deleted version, or if the changes do not address the reasons for which the material was deleted. Otherwise it shouldn't be deleted speedily and rather be discussed anew. For the more grey area of merging this applies in a similar fashion. If you revert with reference to the previous discussion, you're effectively saying that in your opinion the old consensus still applies, say because it is still a mere in-universe write-up with no secondary sources. But if an addition could credibly quote some 2010 Ultimate compendium to the Forgotten Realms universe on its pivotal importance and inner workings the old discussion might be moot already. Best.--Tikiwont (talk) 21:41, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply and taking my ramblings into account. It is also understood but I should have said so, that maintenance and quality control are necessary and your contribution there is appreciated as your effort in eventually settle this and all that. Our relationship with new editors is an important issue as weel, what I say applies in general, and it is important to look at things also from the other receiving side. Benefits me as well.
- A welcome message coupled with a revert will likely leave anybody bewildered and the second warning does not make reference to the reversion but will be understood to refer to content. Even if they immeidtaly find the edit summary they may still not gather why you think that the old discussion still applies. Which is why I encouraged you to make your editorial reasoning clear immediately.
- This also addresses partly your question. If you and I and maybe also the third editor who reverted visbly affirm that for us without any secondary source expansion is still not warranted, then this amounts to a living 2012 confirmation of the previous consensus, but if people would just mechanically ‘defend’ the existing status then that's dead procedure. I gave the example of G4 mostly to clarify that redelting or reverting is subject to some qualification. Not just black and white. For deletions there's the asymmetry you mention, but with respect to merges all editors are on the same level playing field.
- So no mistake, I stand by my recommendation to Amaroyui: improving the section and maybe the rather dire book articles and if there is a solid foundation for a seperate article, the lenghty character lists can still be added anytime. Cheers--Tikiwont (talk) 16:28, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
User or Admin?
I imagine you are an Admin because you were able to remove the "Cite error" text from Leigh Christian's Article. However, I've never come across an Admin whos User Page is forwared to his talk page. So which is it? User/Admin? For all I know...you're the CEO of Wiki. Thanks. In other news....... what is your suggestion concerning references other than IMDB for an Actor? That was my first Article a year ago tomorrow; and it still haunts me. If you were to Google the lady, there are endless pages on her such as TV guide etc. What kind of, and where do I find the references needed to "eliminate" that reference tag? I put TV Guide on there today, but you took it off as a reference. Thanks Pocketthis (talk) 20:05, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- I read your reply on my talk page. You can reply here, I've put your talk page on my watchlist until this issue is resolved.
You mention Google, and then you mention News Services. One of the more reputable sources on her Google 1st page was TV Guide. TV Guide is probably the oldest, most read, and reliable of all Entertainment News Sources. Why did you replace the reference tag, and eliminate TV Guide as a 2nd reference? Pocketthis (talk) 21:05, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
- In reference to IMDB's credibility:
I have read the section in "reliable Sources". That section states that IMDB is not a reliable source because its content is "user material". Then the same section goes on to say that an exception for a user site that would give a particular News Site credibility, would be content from its Professional Editors who have researched a subject. My point here is this: When it comes to the subject of " Film Credits" on IMDB, it is directly from the Academy to the Editors, and not from any Users. You will rarely if EVER see an error on IMDB concerning what movies or TV shows a particular person was an Actor in, or part of the crew, or production company involved. User comments on IMDB are limited to the "Personal Bio" material in their Trivia or Bio Section; along with the user message boards. So why aren't the credits listed on IMDB a "Reliable Source"? This should truly be re-visited. No one can add a movie credit to the list of movie credits on IMDB but a Professional Editor after much research and conformation....I assure you that is a FACT. I have a page on IMDB myself from an old movie I was in. If I could add 100 movies to my page, it would have been done long ago. :) Ba Ba Wa Wa say: Something Wong here!
