[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
I noticed your recent edit to 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Dawnseeker2000 20:28, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia. by continuous addition of existent categories Ammarpad (talk) 21:44, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Ammarpad:, We have a new editor here that has created several new categories and is populating them. I see a lack of edit summaries but no vandalism. Can you please provide diffs or refine your message? Dawnseeker2000 22:21, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Dawnseeker2000: I'm in favour of giving some leeway to new editors, so I agree that Ammarpad ought not to be so quick to jump to a level 4 warning. On the other hand, Westernj does need to take more care with his changes: in this edit, he changed the category Category:Filmed accidental deaths to Category:Filmed deaths during crashes – this was on an article about a diver who died at a depth of 270 metres (890 ft) underwater, where even a cursory glance at the article would have shown him that there was no "crash" involved. --RexxS (talk) 01:40, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Dawnseeker2000:, @RexxS: I don't mean to harass this 'new' editor but why instead of adding new categories he should be changing existing ones? Now ALL his edits involved removing articles from Category:Filmed accidental deaths and adding them to Category:Filmed deaths during crashes while they also belong to the former or didn't belong to latter at all like this. I agree level 4 may be too harsh, but RexxS' concern above captures all my concern too. Thanks —Ammarpad (talk) 05:19, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Speculative categories
[edit]Just because a particular event was recorded which resulted in death does not justify "filmed death of foo " categorization. Nearly all of your added categories are inappropriate. I am reverting those in which article text does not directly support the categorization. Your edits are verging on the disruptive, and certainly constitute synthesis. Filmed deaths
[edit]Please do not spam categories about "filmed deaths" where there is video of the event and somebody died in it somewhere. It's a distinction without a difference, and to be honest is rather ghoulish. Such a category should be reserved for something far more up close and personal in any case, not just as an aid oin looking for morbid YouTube material. A filmed plane crash is not a filmed death. Please discuss before reverting. See my earlier comments above, and please communicate. Acroterion (talk) 13:16, 28 April 2018 (UTC)
