License tagging for Image:452 Clay target shooting.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:452 Clay target shooting.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:05, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Bardie in spit.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Bardie in spit.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Denniss (talk) 11:18, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello: please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Quicken. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. –BMRR (talk) 03:58, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bluey Truscott

[edit]

I found the rest of the biblio details but I've moved the edit to a footnote for the moment. The AWM ref has the strafing on 11 February but it seems more likely that it was on 12 February. Do you have the Southall book to check? Regards Keith-264 (talk) 14:18, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I do have Bluey Truscott in front of me and also dads and Bluey Truscott's log books - Operation Fuller 12th Feb from all sources. I didn't pick up on the AWM reference, so well done. If I could work out how to do it I have saved jpg's of relevant log books. Thanks Wawny (talk) 14:43, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hope these work

Wawny (talk) 15:14, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It would help if the published book had a date &/or time but I know where to stick it now. Pls be careful to avoid the pitfall of conflict of interest and primary sources, they have to be used with more discretion than secondary ones. Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:No original research might be worth a look. You might find that Wikimedia Commons is the place to put the details of logbooks. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 16:42, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've put the strafe in the article since it can be cited to a published source and the personal detail in a note. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 16:51, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Keith. Please excuse my clumsiness here. I haven't done much of this before and its also been a while. I put the log book entries here for your info primarily. Book reference is (no ISBN)

The page File:Truscott - battleships 2.JPG has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image was an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links were updated.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review — JJMC89(T·C) 06:33, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Truscott - battleships 452 Sqn.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Truscott - battleships 452 Sqn.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Truscott - battleships 452 Sqn.jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Truscott - battleships 452 Sqn.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
