have it your way. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Admiinship is no big deal (talkcontribs) 12:07, 4 April 2007 (UTC). Datestamp for archiving: Waggers 21:00, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reviewed this account's contributions and found they were 100% vandalism. As a result, I've extended your 24 hour block to indef. I hope you don't mind. Rklawton 20:56, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The rule of thumb I use is that if it's a new account with more than four edits - and all the edits are vandalism, than it's a "vandalism only" account, and there's no harm in an indef block. Actually, it's pretty rare for an established user account to start vandalizing articles. You'll see them pop up in AIV from time to time, but it's usually a content dispute and not appropriate for AIV. At some point I'd like to create an AIV "decision tree" for discussion. Keep an eye open on the AIV talk page around May some time. Rklawton 21:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: WP:AIV report

[edit]

Here is the Apr 4th diff where the vandal IP was given the final warning prior to my warning for today's vandalization. Then on that same day, Martin bot reversed an edit by this IP.

My analysis of this IP is that it is a persistent vandal which has been blocked twice in the past. A majority of its edits are being reverted. Sorry you don't share this view. Ronbo76 15:31, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning the message you left on my talk page.

[edit]

He had already received a final warning. About a minute after the final warning Martinbot stuck an automated message on his talk page, but the final warning was still there. Could you strike out or remove the message on my talk page? Thanks. -Mschel 15:38, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Southampton Districts (again)

[edit]

Hi again, I'm rather hoping we can sort out the districts of Southampton once and for all. There are at least two in the list I'm dubious of, and some more that we could maybe add. Once we've got the list sorted, would you be willing to re-draw your diagram map to match these divisions? Please join the (currently nonexistant) discussion on Template_talk:Districts_of_Southampton if you would like to contribute. Thanks AlanFord 18:18, 8 April 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Fair enough I expected that to be the case. I did put a warning on their page also and I was happy to just the let the community know. Cheers --VS talk 10:30, 10 April 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Thanks for your assistance. I'll keep an eye on the page (on my watchlist) until it looks like the vandal(s) get the idea. Thanks a bunch, Nimur 21:55, 11 April 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Hi Waggers, was just going to revert the Velma Dinkley page when I saw you had already done so. Damn, you're fast =) Keep up the great work. (user account: Skie_Blue, not logged in right now) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 124.82.180.10 (talk) 14:36, 12 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Year-round school Vandalism

[edit]

Hello Waggers, I have been vandalism-patrolling at the Year-round school article. User:WesWalker, who has a long history at that article, has returned with an intent to remove images from the article. (This has been persistent in the past, but he had been on a bit of a vandalism sabbatical). I was wondering if you can assist in the discussion. I don't want to protect the page (which has been discussed before), because we have a lot of good, but I don't know what to do. Please help! Thanks, Nimur 17:40, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. - his account is seemingly a single-purpose account for attacking this page. Nimur 17:41, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Undeserved warning

[edit]

You have just issued a heavy handed, final warning to the person (user:CA387) who reverted the vandalism. In fact, you reversion restored the vandalism. Please be more careful in future, and perhaps an apology is in order. Thanks LittleOldMe 11:03, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmmm. See above. Gissa chance! Waggers 11:06, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I've done it too (to a person I had just given the RickK barnstar to, no less!). Sometimes it's easy to get distracted while using TW. :) --CA387 11:08, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have left a comment on my talk page hinting that I was discussing the subject rather than the article. This is not the case. I asked "If the article about the group of islands off the northwest coast of Europe is not to be called British Isles, despite that being a commonly recognised name for them, what should it be called?". The discussion arose from an ongoing dispute about the article's title (which is, not unnaturally, the disputed name of the subject). I do not see how I can participate in a discussion about an article's title and at the same time conform to your instructions.

I am not sure that your intervention has been very helpful; not least because some participants view such intervention by an English person in what is seen as a British-English/Irish styling dispute as POV. Bazza 10:38, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw your name on the WikiProject Christianity Membership page.

I've made some changes to the WP Christianity main project page, added several sup-project pages, created a few task forces section, and proposed several more possible changes so that we can really start making some serious progress on the project. Please stop by and see my comments on the project talk page here and consider joining a task force or helping out with improving and contributing to our sub-projects. Thanks for your time! Another case of mistaken identity. Datestamp for archiving: Waggers 09:23, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help in untangling the mess that the blatant spammer User:Alt f in had created. Just so you know, I've noticed what I presume to have been his use of sockpuppets in the past when another of his names had been deleted. I'd been trying to rectify the mess he'd made but, in the end, I felt it was more appropriately referred to an admin since, based on past practice, without a block, he'd only have created it all again under a slightly different page name. At the same time, there was really nothing of merit in any of his contributions. By the way, as far as I can tell, that's at least two spam pages with slightly different names that have been deleted from under him and, I believe, at least two user accounts, now.

Once again, thanks for your efficient and quick action. — Dave (Talk | contribs) 14:09, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello...

[edit]

Hello Waggers, I have a comment on the ban of the IP 72.237.248.5. I am currently at Mayberry, a school in Wichita Kansas, and I was looking at the news on the main English page. I clicked on a link and it said that the school's IP was blocked. It also said that we did a lot of vandalism. Is there any other way that we could still view pages with out the ban in place?

This is a School IP.

72.196.222.14

[edit]

This guy's prior block was for vandalizing the same user page as I posted him up on AIV for. Why should he need a second set of warnings for the exact same page that he was warned about and blocked for vandalizing before? He clearly both understands and does not care that his edits are inappropriate. TerminX 19:11, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are quite correct. I've blocked him for a month and left him a customized block message explaining why. Rklawton 19:23, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I got a template message back from you on my talk page. The user User_talk:194.81.176.254 is a shared IP and has been warned very many times. I will warn the user about this specific article if that is required. [Mac Δαvιs]10:07, 15 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Hi Waggers. I'm new to the mop and keen to get things right. I wanted to indefblock the user for vandalism-only, but wasn't sure which options to select lower down the form. What did you opt for? --Dweller 10:32, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very helpful, thanks. No doubt, as an admin, everything I do deliberately will be wrong, but there's no need for me to ignorantly get everything wrong too! --Dweller 10:36, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Freemantle

[edit]

You write:

Hi Chris, I'm not entirely sure why you've moved Freemantle to Freemantle, Southampton - the "..., Southampton" disambiguation isn't necessary as there are no other articles called Freemantle (the Australian city only has one E). Am I missing something? -- Waggers 13:18, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are missing nothing except my request at WP:RM to move it back. I was mislead by another editor's misspelling of the Australian city's name into thinking I'd discovered a case of disambiguation needed, when it was just a plain mis-link (unless Southampton has hosted the America's Cup without me noticing). -- Chris j wood 17:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Hello, Waggers! Since it has been a month since you nominated the Hampshire Portal for peer review, I hope you received good feedback on how the portal could be improved. If you would like, you could keep the portal listed at the portal peer review for more suggestions for improvement and ask the Wikipedians here for feedback. Also, if you think the portal is ready, you could nominate the portal for featured status. Either way, I hope you've received helpful reviews! Cheers, [sd] 13:36, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
