Requesting adminship

Yes, it is quite difficult to gain adminship, partly because it is difficult to "un-admin" or desysop, as it is called. I failed (technically it was "no consensus") twice, as you can see here and here, before I passed. It seems to me, frankly, that there are three things you'll have to improve before being able to pass at RFA. One, you'll have to get a better handle on English grammar, this is the English Wikipedia, after all. Since good communication is a very important skill in an admin, RFA voters aren't very forgiving of poor grammar. Two, the answers to the questions didn't really give the impression that you were familiar with what admins do. For some examples of answers, take a look at this list of successful RFAs. You might want to also read over Wikipedia:Administrators/Tools and some of the links at the bottom of the page. That'll give you a better idea of what admins do. Third, do more work in the Wikipedia namespace. That means particpate at WP:AFD, WP:HD, WP:UAA, WP:AIV, or any other page that starts with "Wikipedia:". Fourth (turns out there are four), is to learn policies a little better. On your RFA some people asked optional questions, and on some, you didn't give the best answers. Question 7 in particular. You should've mentioned something about warning the users and, if necessary, semi-protecting the page. Sorry to sound so blunt, but that's pretty much what it'll take to have a successful RFA. Now I'm talking much more than I'd like, but if you ever have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to ask me. Useight (talk) 21:52, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Your RFA

Hey there Jet, this is just a note to inform you that I have closed your RFA per the essay WP:NOTNOW as it was extremely unlikely to succeed. The opposers have cited your lack of experience, particularly in admin-related areas such as ANI and AFD, as well as a perceived difficulty with your communication skills. This is not a reflection upon you as an editor and merely indicates that the community would like to see more of your editing before they can make a judgement as to whether you are suitable to be an admin. If you would still like to become an admin you could try admin coaching where an experienced admin will help you to understand Wikipedia policy and guide you into gaining relevant experience before your next RFA. Again, this is in no way a comment about your worth as an editor and you are of course an editor in good standing :) I look forward to seeing you around and perhaps at a better-fated RFA in the future. naerii - talk 23:28, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
