Thanks for your contributions to International Cities of Peace. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because The correct title, International Cities of Peace was permanently protected for admin creation only. A tag has been placed on International Cities of Peace (ICP) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/International Cities of Peace. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Thanks for your contributions to International Cities of Peace (ICP). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ibjaja055 (talk) 23:20, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in International Cities of Peace (ICP), disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 23:06, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to International Cities of Peace (ICP), please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it.

The Show preview button is right next to the Publish changes button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Jessicapierce (talk) 23:06, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Jessicapierce,
Thank you for your constructive feedback and for pointing me in the right direction. I apologize for any disruptions my edits may have caused and appreciate your reminder to use the Preview feature before saving changes. I will make sure to follow the Manual of Style guidelines more closely in the future to ensure my contributions are consistent with Wikipedia’s standards.
Your guidance is invaluable as I continue to learn, and I’ll definitely use the Show Preview button moving forward to avoid unnecessary edits.
Thanks again for your understanding and assistance.
Best regards WAASI TECH (talk) 02:04, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for your reply. I never hear back from the vast majority of people I message, and communication is key to being a useful contributor to Wikipedia.
Thank you for taking the Manual of Style suggestion seriously - there is a lot to read there, but it's worth it. From my review of your edits, I can see that you have a good grasp of punctuation, and that you want to improve the encyclopedia. When I have changed your edits, it usually had to do with different variants of English. Please be especially mindful of this in the future (MOS:ENGVAR is a useful read). The short version is that when an article is written in British English (or certain other English variants), and/or if it's about a particularly British topic, we keep to British spelling and punctuation conventions. This means you shouldn't change "neighbor" to "neighbor," or add the Oxford comma.
This can be hard to wrap your head around, and honestly it sometimes bothers me to leave spelling/punctuation that seem incorrect to me, as an American. However, as stated at the MOS page linked above, "The English Wikipedia prefers no national variety over others."
There are many, many things that need real fixing here, so please direct your editing energies toward those. A fun place to start is the list of commonly misspelled English words. Doing a search on any of those misspellings (with quote marks around it) will show you all kinds of real errors that need fixing. (Don't ever change direct quotes though.)
If I can help, please let me know. Thanks, Jessicapierce (talk) 03:33, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your helpful feedback and suggestions! I will definitely read through the Manual of Style more carefully, especially the section on English variants (MOS). I now understand the importance of maintaining the correct variant based on the subject of the article, and I'll be sure to stick to the original style in future edits.
I appreciate your advice on focusing on real errors and will check out the list of commonly misspelled words. If I ever need more guidance, I’ll be sure to reach out!
Also, I’m working on creating the "International Cities of Peace" page. I’ve made a lot of edits and resubmitted it, but I’m unsure how to track its approval progress. Would you happen to have any tips on how to know when it’s officially live and searchable?
Thanks again for your support! WAASI TECH (talk) 05:16, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, I'm afraid I don't know anything about the article submission process (my area is general copy editing). However, it does look like the article is officially live. In the section of your talk page directly above this conversation, there's a link to the draft version of the article. However, when I clicked it, I was redirected to a live article {International Cities of Peace (ICP)), and at the top of that page, it does say "Redirected from Draft:International Cities of Peace (ICP)". So at some point, your draft was upgraded to a true, searchable article. I would have expected you to be notified of that change, but as I say, I don't know much about this end of Wikipedia - sorry! Deletion discussion about International Cities of Peace

[edit]

Hello WAASI TECH, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, International Cities of Peace, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/International Cities of Peace (2nd nomination).

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Pppery}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

* Pppery * it has begun... 05:11, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Pppery, for the feedback. I understand the concerns about
notability
and the type of references currently used. I am working to find more sources that offer comprehensive coverage of
International Cities of Peace
as an organization rather than passing mentions of individual cities joining the network.
I believe
International Cities of Peace
has demonstrated significant global impact as it has been active in hundreds of cities worldwide, promoting peace initiatives and even achieving Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. I’ll focus on finding additional independent, reliable sources that address this organizational reach.
Thank you again for your guidance, and I’m open to any further suggestions on how to ensure the article meets Wikipedia’s standards.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, WAASI TECH. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page International Cities of Peace, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – robertsky (talk) 09:04, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. – robertsky (talk) 09:04, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I would like to request an unblock as I am not receiving any compensation for my contributions to the International Cities of Peace page. I understand the importance of Wikipedia’s guidelines on conflict of interest, neutrality, and reliable sourcing, and I aim to follow them strictly. My goal is to contribute to Wikipedia with informative, neutral content, and I will continue to improve the article based on community feedback. I also recognize the need for a username change to align with Wikipedia’s policies and request "HafizUz" as my new username. Thank you for considering my request. WAASI TECH (talk) 10:54, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Your current username is that of a marketing/IT agency. I find it very difficult to believe that you work in marketing but you aren't doing marketing work for ICP. Even if that's true, you gamed the system in order to be able to move your draft into the encyclopedia yourself instead of using the draft submission process, which you should do if you have a conflict of interest as you do. The system exists for a reason. I'm unwilling to unblock you to, in the short term, edit about topics for which you have a conflict of interest. That wouldn't be permanent, but we will first want to see a history of edits in areas for which you have no conflict of interest, as a demonstration before permitting you to indirectly contribute about COI related topics. If that's okay with you, please tell what topics you might edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:13, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
you may not be receiving compensation for your edits on here, but do you deny that you are connected to the organisation in anyway? – robertsky (talk) 11:01, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate for your question. Since I have volunteered or provided consultation for International Cities of Peace (ICP) on a number of initiatives, I do have a professional affiliation with them. However, in accordance with Wikipedia's impartiality and verifiability criteria, my additions to the article are only meant to present accurate and properly cited material.
Aware of the possibility of a conflict of interest, I will prioritize openness and following Wikipedia's guidelines while submitting suggestions for future changes on the article's talk page for community approval. I think this makes my position clear, and I would appreciate any more advice on how to guarantee adherence to Wikipedia's guidelines. WAASI TECH (talk) 11:14, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Another administrator will process your request from here on as I lack the rights to rename accounts. – robertsky (talk) 11:24, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: Thank you for the feedback, 331dot. I appreciate the advice on best practices for handling potential conflicts of interest.

Regarding the username, I would want to clarify that WAASI TECH was a company venture that my brother and I hoped to create but never actually launched. There is no history of work or clients under this name because we were unable to look for clients or any business development due to time constraints.

My voluntary contributions to the International Cities of Peace page are driven only by my desire to enhance the encyclopedia's coverage of this topic. I now realize that it would have been better to use the draft submission method, and I will do so going ahead.

I am willing to contribute to a variety of unrelated topics and concentrate on general improvement projects to allay any worries regarding my editing history and show my dedication to neutrality and Wikipedia's content standards. I am interested in a wide range of general knowledge issues, including digital marketing, graphic design, and content writing. This should help me build a reputation for making helpful edits.

Once again, thank you, and I would be grateful for any further guidance.WAASI TECH (talk) 08:48, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Then you might want to take down the company website. In any event, you may make a new request placed below for someone else to review. It's doubtful that you will be unblocked to make edits for topics where you have a clear conflict of interest(like digital marketing, graphic design, and content writing) but any decision will be up to the next admin in consultation with the blocking admin, not me. 331dot (talk) 08:55, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, 331dot, for your advice. I will take down the company webpage as indicated because my major goal here is to contribute constructively while following to Wikipedia's guidelines. I appreciate the necessity of establishing confidence by revisions in issues free of conflicts of interest. To support this, I will refrain from editing in areas such as digital marketing, graphic design, and content writing until I can demonstrate a track record of unbiased contributions in unrelated fields. My goal is to contribute informed, neutral edits that promote Wikipedia's mission of providing high-quality, reliable content. Thank you once again for your time and attention. WAASI TECH (talk) 09:02, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was being a little facetious there with regards to your website, it's your business whether you have it up or not. You will need to make a new request for someone else to review. 331dot (talk) 09:07, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Yes. Since no one was responsing, I created one. But, I won't use that account, what's the point getting blocked. Why are you asking? WAASI TECH (talk) 06:54, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm asking because I wanted to hear your answer.
Do you have other accounts besides these two? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:07, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't. WAASI TECH (talk) 07:08, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.
The question was asked earlier what topic areas you would like to contribute in. You suggested some (digital marketing, etc.), but were told these would not be a good idea, given possible COI issues. You then said you wouldn't contribute in those, but didn't tell what you would be contributing in. Could you tell us now some topic areas you might contribute in? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:19, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mainly, Organizations, updating articles about non-controversial organizations, emphasizing those with notable histories and effects, while ensuring all edits follow Wikipedia's rules. WAASI TECH (talk) 07:42, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
