Please stop adding whitespace

[edit]

I see you have a lot of extra whitespace to several articles, contrary to Wikipedia's standard layout. Please stop doing that. Bishonen | tålk 09:19, 14 September 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Oh, come on.. I have reverted a number of articles, but I see you have done the same thing to a lot more. Please go back and revert them yourself, I'm getting tired of it. Why on earth did you do this? Bishonen | tålk 09:26, 14 September 2020 (UTC).[reply]
Oops sorry. Was not aware that was against the layout. I thought it would be beneficial if the paragraphs are spaced enough since its more easy to identify paragraphs and thus easy to read.
I see. Well, it's unlucky that nobody told you before. Look, if you're not up for reverting the whitespace yourself (because I notice you're not doing it), I can do it by the radical method of reverting all your edits. There's a script whereby I can do that with one click, so it would be a lot more convenient for me than what I've been doing. The only problem is that you have also made a few — really not very many — additions of text, and they would go as well. Would that be all right? You can then look at your own contributions, here, where you will easily be able to identify those edits, because they're much bigger, and add them back. However, I see that they're all unsourced. Please only add them back if you provide sources along with them. All right? Please let me know what you think. (Please sign talkpage posts by adding four tildes, ~~~~, which will convert automatically to your signature and a timestamp.) Bishonen | tålk 10:34, 14 September 2020 (UTC).[reply]
Since you have not responded to me, even though you have been editing, I'll have to go by my own best judgement. I've reverted your last 500 edits. I hope that doesn't upset you too much, but doing it one by one is really too time-consuming for me, and you yourself are apparently not prepared to fix the whitespace issue. Please remember what I said above, especially about sources. Bishonen | tålk 22:06, 14 September 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Request reason:

Understood the reason for blocks was source reference. Would proceed more on draftspace when in doubt.

Decline reason:

This unblock request has been declined due to your history of vandalism and/or disruption to this encyclopedia. However, we are willing to give you another chance provided that you can earn back the trust of the Wikipedia community. To be unblocked you need to demonstrate that you are willing and able to contribute positively to Wikipedia. You can do this by:

  • Familiarizing yourself with our basic rules.
  • Read our guide to improving articles.
  • Pick any pre-existing article you wish to improve.
  • If you have trouble choosing an article to improve, see this index of articles needing improvement for ideas. Once you have decided on the article you will propose improvements to:
    1. Click the Edit tab at the top of that article;
    2. Copy the portion of the prose from that article that you will be proposing changes to. However:
      • do not copy the "infobox" from the start of the article (i.e., markup like this: ...);
      • do not copy any image placement code (i.e., markup like this: );
      • do not copy the page's categories from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this: );
      • do not copy the stub tag (if there) from the bottom of the page (i.e., markup like this: Foo stub);
    3. Click edit at your talk page, and paste at the bottom under a new section header (like this: == Article title ==) the copied content but do not save yet;
    4. Place your cursor in the edit summary box and paste there an edit summary in the following form which specifies the name of the article you copied from and links to it (this is required for mandatory copyright attribution): "Copied content from exact Name of Article; see that article's history for attribution."
    5. You can now save the page. However, if your edits will include citations to reliable sources (which they should), add the following template to the end of your prose: reflist-talk. Once you have added the template, click Publish changes.
  • Now, edit that content. Propose significant and well researched improvements by editing the selected portion of the article. Please note that we are not looking for basic typo corrections, or small unreferenced additions; your edits should be substantial, and reflect relevant policies.
  • When you are done with your work, re-request unblocking and an administrator will review your proposed edits.
    • If we (including the original blocking admin) are convinced that your proposed edits will improve Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, you will be unblocked.

If you need help while working with your proposed edits, you may add "your question here ~~~~" to your talk page. Thank you. Yamla (talk) 13:55, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Early history

[edit]

In the Neolithic period, geometric patterns like zigzag patterns or fish bone(어골문,魚骨文) like patterns on korean comb-pattern pottery(빗살무늬토기) are attested,as well as on spinning wheels where spiral patterns are observed. [1] During the bronze age, patterns of circles are also observed in mirrors.[1]

The Three Kingdoms Period

[edit]

It was from The Three Kingdoms Period(Kokuryo, Baekje, Silla) that patterns showed distinctive korean styles. The patterns of this period were influenced by Chinese culture and Buddhist art. Because the three kingdoms were in the same cultural zone, the artifacts of the Three kingdoms were similar while showing respective differences. For example, Four Symbols (China)(사신도) were the main theme in Kokuryo murals.The symbols are also observed in Silla earthenware. The 'Cheonma(天馬,literally translated to the horse of the sky)' picture in Shila 'Cheonmachong' royal tomb(천마총) was quite similar to Kokuryo's mural paintings in a tumulus.[2]

Unified Silla Period

[edit]

In the mid 7th Century , Silla unified The Three Kingdoms and created a new national culture. In this period, Buddhism art especially flourished. As trade with the countries bordering Western China, Unified Silla introduced new crafting technologies and styles. One of the example of these new patterns was the floral medallion motif pattern(寶相華紋,보상화문). Floral medallion motif pattern was introduced from Persia to Korea and Japan in the 7th Century.The fictional flower has eight leaves which have a sharpened end. Also, interests regarding the matter of afterlife increased. Patterns that reflected this interest were geometric patterns like comb-pattern, triangle, circle, floral medallion motif.[2]

Goryeo period

[edit]

Since Goryeo endorsed buddhism as the state religion,and continued the legacy of the society of the prosperous Unified Silla aristocracy based on rich buddhist traditions, Buddhism art flourished. Goryeo patterns tended to be more colorful. Goryeo celadon was painted with patterns like clouds, lotus and crane. In Goyeo lacquerware inlaid with mother-of-pearl, there were patterns like chrysanthemum and waterfowl.[2]

Joseon dynasty period

[edit]

Joseon art was not a product of previous traditionally trained skills, but rather an independent development. Characteristic pattern for the period is the 'gil sang' pattern which are translated as lucky signs(길상무늬). Examples of gil sang patterns include Lotus pattern, 'man'(卍) pattern, The ten traditional Symbols of Longevity(十長生), letter pattern etc. Patterns using chinese characters (i.e.부(富)·귀(貴)·수(壽)·복(福)·강(康)·영(寧)·희(囍)) which have the meaning of wealth, honor, long life, happiness and peace respectively were used with decorative frames.[3]

Complex pattern

[edit]

Complex pattern is a pattern that shows many compounded subjects. For instance, to emphasize the auspicious nature of the dragon,which is also a symbol of defense against evil spirits, it can be depicted with clouds. Also, putting apricot blossoms, which represents spring and longevity, together with palgajo (bird), which represents filial piety, is a common combination. Patterns can be arranged by putting ones with similar meanings together, or combining ones with different meanings to create a new symbol. For the former, a common example is the shipjangsaengmun (十長生), or 10 traditional symbols of longevity, and for the latter, fish and reed can be commonly seen in patterns. Fish represents the leisure of life, success in life, prosperity for descendants, and conjugal harmony for couples, but when seen with the reed, it represents longevity. The shipjangsaengmun (十長生) will arrange similar symbols to strengthen the original meaning of the symbol. The ten symbols include: sun, mountain, rock, water, cloud, pine tree, elixir plant, turtle, crane, and deer. Each symbols in the shipjangsaeng pattern (十長生) stands for longevity, but when used together it strengthens their original meaning. The number ten (十) also represents completeness.[2]

Changed help me to Admin help since no user can lift the indef ban on your account. Really this should probably be yet another unblock request — IVORK Talk 21:25, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(comment from non-admin) Since the only page you can currently edit is this talk page, working on multiple pages, or sections, can be a challenge. Since you are trying to demonstrate that you know how to follow the rules, use the layout tools to clearly demark each example and use the reflist talk template to keep references adjacent to the proposed content.
Given the referencing flaws in this first sample, I'd suggest working on something that will be simpler for an admin to evaluate and that would perhaps contain a greater density of citations. For the subject of "traditional patterns", you would not be picking out individual examples and making generalizations from them or their museum listings – that would look too much like original research. You would want to find a text or two that talk (authoritatively) about this subject and summarize what they say.
By referencing flaws, I mean things like the empty ref named "0:" – while there are tools that generate numeric reference names like these, you should always try to change the name to something more meaningful. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 21:47, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[1]== Big Japan is a four-piece indie rock band from Los Angeles, featuring Nathanial Castro on vocals and guitar, Brad Babinski on bass, guitarist Bret Harrison and Adam Brody on drums. The band only perform and record sporadically given Brody and Harrison's unpredictable schedules.

The band's name was originally Steven's Team, named after the movie The Cable Guy.

Big Japan's first release, Music for Dummies, was digitally released through Nightshift Records on August 23, 2005.Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page). The album's title was changed from "Music for Dummies" to "Untitled" and the limited number of CDs printed have become collectors items.

(again, a non-admin comment) There are several things wrong here. While Discogs is apparently allowed to be used as a reference in limited ways, you can't base an entire entry merely by copying, nearly word-for-word, the notes from a Discogs page. So this is a failure for you. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 06:32, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Aragoto-style actor Ichikawa Danjūrō I, wagoto-style actor Sakata Tōjūrō I, and onnagata actor Yoshizawa Ayame I are famous kabuki actors of the Genroku era.[1][2]

Kabuki has changed from performing arts centered on singing and dancing to theater that emphasizes narrative .[3]

With the official license of the Guo system , early female Kabuki (Yujo Kabuki) was banned in 1629 along with other female performing arts because it disturbed the morals . However Uketamawa応first year ( 1652 ), wakashū kabuki was also totally prohibited by reason of disturbing the public morals. On the other hand, the voices of the common people who wanted to resume Kabuki were extremely deep-rooted, so the actor cut off the bangs, which is a symbol of the young people, and eliminated the sensational dances and dances, and performed only "impersonation kyogen". It is said that the resumption was allowed on the condition that [4] . Since then, it has been handed down to the present day as a bastard Kabuki played only by adult boys .[21] However, on the one hand, this condition is also said to have been an opportunity to deepen Kabuki from performing arts based on color to performing arts . [4]In addition, after Kanbun, the second and third kyogens were set up in the play, and multiple curtains were generated, which has evolved into a complicated play with a focus on the plot. Should i mention that the source is originally japanese? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vnaroddrux (talkcontribs) 05:41, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like another failure. The English in it is so broken that I can only guess that you copied the output from a machine translation of one or more of your sources. If you used citation templates, there would be a place to indicate the original language of the source. You cannot copy from sources, you must summarize in your own words. (Well, you might be allowed to copy from a public domain edition of Encyclopedia Britannica. Unfortunately, the bit of Britannica you pointed to appears to have very little to do with what you wrote, since it covers a much later period.) I don't see any point in delving further into this example. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 06:51, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Yes. The following one was indeed machine translated from the japanese wikipedia section.However, what i attempted to examine was whether the reference was done properly as the reason for the original block was undersourced material not poor grammar.Surely i could improve on that on the edit but i didnt think it was necessary since it was irrelevant on the cause.Also the reference part had to be constructed manually since the japanese wikipedia had a different format.

First 41 volumes The prologue was written by Lee Soo(李需). The first through 18th books contain poetry. Book 20 contains a biography section. Book 21 contains novels.[1]. From book 20 to 25, a lot of the sections dedicated to the architecture of goryeo is included, as well as the views towards architecture during the era which emphasized the unity of buildings and humans in the present aspect and treated it as a training place for the mind in the future aspect.[2]

Last 12 volumes These volumes contain a section dealing with the first king of Goguryeo, which has been of interest to historians.[1]

Stella Jang moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Stella Jang, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
