Map of Russia

[edit]

Hello!

I saw your map of USA and thought it would be great with a similar map for Russian Federation. :) --85.195.9.41 23:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello — not sure if you'll get this, but I'm afraid I didn't make the map you mentioned — I made the basic map which someone else has modified, and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to create others like it. I can only suggest you contact the person who did the modifications, sorry. -- Vardion 02:15, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gini Index and HDI maps

[edit]

--- URGENT REQUEST from April 6th, 2007 ---

Hello "VARDION",

I am working on a PhD-Paper for Universtity and therefore woul be very grateful if you could provide me with your current maps and legends concerning the worldwide Gini-Index and the Human Development Index as well. I would like to put these maps in my thesis and for that I would like you a as a scientific reference in my analysis - but I cannot use wikipedia as scientific source.

Is ist possible that you send me this maps out of 2006 and provide me with your personal dates for my university work?

I would be very happy about that because I have not found a similar excellent illustration somewhere else...

Best regards,

Werner Paar

Māori Wikipedia

[edit]

Tēnā koe Vardion. I just wanted to know if you could help us out with a situation on the Māori wikipedia, as you are a bureaucrat there. I'm an admin there, the only active one. A bot has asked here mi:Help talk:Bot to be flagged as a bot. Probably a good idea, but he has approached Robin Patterson about it. The community there asked Robin Patterson in November to cease his involvement with that Wiki, which he has basically respected until now. This request has put us in an awkward position as we are without an active bureaucrat and it would be good if you could help us out. Kia ora koe Kahuroa 21:03, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for flagging that bot account. Kahuroa 05:24, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Kia ora anō Vardion. Regarding your comments on mi that you think it would be good for mi to have a local bureaucrat, just thought you should know (in case no one's told you) that on the 15th Brian NZ nominated me for bureaucratship on this page mi:Wikipedia:Ngā tono whakatū kaiwhakahaere. The terms are set out there (7 days, 2 vote minimum). Heoi anō, nā Kahuroa 00:30, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

Hi Vardion, as you maybe aware of this I asked you to make a map for Somaliland. However, you replied that another user does this. Unfortunately I have tried to contact him but he is not responding. Can you please ask him to make a map for Somaliland??

Thank You!!! Abdullah Geelah 20:08, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Māori Wikipedia (again)

I believe Kahuroa has consensus, and meets the requirements to be flagged. Could you please check out Wikipedia:Ngā tono whakatū kaiwhakahaere Cheers Brian | (Talk) 19:39, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kia ora Vardion. Appreciate your help. Kahuroa 00:13, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I have asked you before about maps about the wordlwide Gini-Index and the Human Development Index as well. Unfortunately, those guys - as you told me - who have made this maps, do not respond. Can you send me an empty world-map so that I can add the right datas on my own? Would be great - many thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Werner

Congrats!

Blank map of Africa

[edit]

Hi! I noticed that you are the author of Image:BlankMap-Africa.png, derivatives of which are used in a number of articles. However, the map currently excludes Cape Verde and the Comoros. Would you be able to add them? Thank you, Black Falcon (Talk) 08:09, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Auckland Ferry Map

[edit]

Hi! Thanks for the great map! And I missed you adding it to 'my own' article! Really awesome looking work. I may need to expand that section to better fit it into the text flow ;-)

Also, could you have an eye on including the tourist ferry to Rangitoto (maybe in red) and put a tag on the Great Barrier ferry to indicate where it is heading? Cheers! MadMaxDog 10:03, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

>Hi. The ferry map has a small error. Its "Devonport", not Davenport. Davenport is a type of furniture, I believe ;-)

Inclusion of English language placenames in infoboxes on the Wikipedia Māori

[edit]

Hello - please see mi:Wikipedia:Kōrero - I'd like us to have a vote to write into the conventions of the Māori Wikipedia a protocol for using the two official spoken languages of NZ in geographical infoboxes, similar to and complimentary with the convention recently agreed on the English language Wikipedia at Wikipedia:New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board, where it was agreed to include the Māori language name of towns in infoboxes. This has now been provisionally included in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (New Zealand) and it would be nice to reciprocate and to confirm and regularise a practice we have already been following, if a little inconsistently. Feel free to ask me on my talk page if you have any questions - Cheers Kahuroa 08:44, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How to create map?

[edit]

Hi I noticed the blank world map you have created at Image:BlankMap-World.png. Can you teach me how to create a similar PNG map for Pakistani provinces and districts with the same colour scheme? Shinas 12:54, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, anybody here?Shinas 20:23, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Image:BlankMap-Pakistan.PNG. I created this blank map of Pakistan using Macromedia Fireworks 4. Is it alright? Shinas 14:58, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please see this. I have uploaded an improved version of the blank map of Pakistan (after minor corrections) to Commons. How do I use it in English WIkipedia? Shinas 13:12, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Trolleybuses in Wellington

[edit]

Hi Vardion. You are off to such a great start on the article Trolleybuses in Wellington that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. Appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. Again, great job on the article. -- Jreferee (Talk) 18:42, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vardion - I looked on the Alexander Turnbull site for replacements for the 3 images you uploaded as FairUse (Apirana Ngata, Maui Pomari and Eru Tirikatene) - which were used on Māori politics which have been tagged and removed by Abu badali. I have uploaded (to Commons as PD-old) the one of Apirana Ngata as ApiranaNgata05.jpg, found an alternate for Maui Pomare, your one is not free due to death date of photographer. Same problem with all images of Tirikatene - so I have replaced him with an image of James Carroll Kahuroa 07:16, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any reason why Template:PD-user would not be sufficient for your purposes? I think it's a bad idea to have a different PD template and/or category for each user. It decreases the reusability of Wikipedia's content and causes category creep. Savidan 03:41, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not the one who created Template:PD-Vardion, and I don't remember ever using it myself, so I would have no objections if it were removed. -- Vardion 04:04, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, then, would you have any objection to my replacing it? Savidan 04:17, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Albigensian Crusade

[edit]

I'm contacting you out of courtesy as you have contributed to the page and may wish to supply your own citations. If you feel this doesn't matter to you, please ignore it. This page was rated as a Good Article, but has been downgraded because nobody did the donkeywork of listing the attributions to the various statements provided, which is after all a fairly serious dereliction of duty in what's suppoed to be a historical record. Having discussed the withdrawal of GA with LuciferMorgan, I give notice that I am sitting down with the three classic original source texts (Puylaurens, Vaux-de-Cernay and de Tudèle - the last in the Livre de Poche edition as the Martin-Chabot is long out of print) to add the missing inline citations to this page. I do not intend at this point to make any textual alterations, but if comments are made which are NOT justified, be prepared to state your sources now.

Jel 21:11, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vardion, I have taken the history of NZ's diplomatic network from New Zealand diplomatic missions and added it to Diplomatic missions of New Zealand (my earlier article, since renamed). Your text has partially summarised - it could be tightened further as listing the missions opened and closed each decade in prose form doesn't narrate well, but it is informative nevertheless. I have also added a map which includes some places missing.

Tell me what you think - once we have an article that reads well can delete the other. Kransky 11:13, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have started a vote on the discussion page of this article to remove content that is irrelevant to Qantas's operations. Seriously this article needs a rewrite! Please add your vote. Kransky (talk) 12:15, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An article that you have been involved in editing, New Zealand diplomatic missions, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New Zealand diplomatic missions. Thank you.
