welcoming users with no contribs

I'm also a big fan of welcoming new users, but the sad fact is that a lot of accounts, perhaps even a majority of them, are registered but never actually edit, and creating welcome pages for such users doesn't really accomplish anything but using up server space. I'm always careful to make sure any user I welcome has at least one edit, but many of the users you are welcoming have never edited, and probably never will. --Beeblebrox (talk) 22:28, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Use of Huggle

May I ask how this merited a semi-automated unexplained Huggle revert? Daniel (talk) 00:15, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

A change by an IP address with no citing. From what I've seen using huggle, a lot of knuckle draggers like to make minor number changes, like changing a basketball player's squad number from 12 to 13. This IP changed TBA to a squad number. I checked on Hereford FC sites but found he didn't have a number because he had yet to be signed, so I reverted it. Onevalefantalk 10:19, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

If that is the case, you should revert it with an explanative edit summary to that effect, and/or leave a message on the talk page of the IP address. Plus, just so you don't re-revert the IP, he is indeed number 9, as can be seen here. Daniel (talk) 10:22, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
My bad, all I saw on his profile on the official site was his DOB, the photo wasn't even there. So, I opened 4 different fan sites but found nothing. Could you hand me that trout? :P

Fansites are hardly reliable sources. —Dark talk 07:10, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

OK, so Hebrew is non-Cyrillic, but what's the point?

Your User talk:נועמקליין#July 2009 comment:

I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: Non cyryllic [sic]

seems rather harsh in light of WP:Username policy#Non-English usernames which explicitly states that usernames in non-Latin alphabets are welcome, and only goes so far as encouraging the use of some Latin characters in signatures as per WP:Signatures#Non-Latin. Perhaps it would be better pointing נועמקליין to the latter page and suggesting the inclusion of a Latin-alphabet transliteration of the Hebrew username ("Noam Klein", according to machine translation) in his signature. -- Thinking of England (talk) 14:14, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (File:Brigands MC.jpg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Brigands MC.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. An exciting opportunity to get involved!

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 23:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

NowCommons: File:AvroVulcan2008.JPG

File:AvroVulcan2008.JPG is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:AvroVulcan2008.JPG. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:AvroVulcan2008.JPG]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 21:45, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
