Sister Mary Vincent Shelverton
[edit]Thank you for writing the article Sister Mary Vincent Shelverton. I have bolded the title in the opening sentence and reformatted one of the references which was a bit of a mess. It is normal when writing biographies to refer to people just by their surname, but that seems a bit disrespectful when referring to a nun (I don't normally write biographies). AfC notification: Draft:Princes Wharf, Hobart has a new comment
[edit]- Hi Marshelec,
- I have removed the image as requested. I will work out how to remove it from wikimedia commons. In regard to copyright I understand what you are saying but please note according to Australian Copyright law this image is out of copyright and in the public domain: https://www.nla.gov.au/using-library/copyright-library-collections/rights-and-pictures-collection
- It was supplied to me from a private collector with the reference to the image as recorded in the title with the understanding that it was to be added to Wikipedia.
- Thanks for reviewing again. Vandemonian (talk) 10:44, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, as well as complying with Australian copyright law, Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia must also comply with copyright requirements in the US, and they differ markedly from Australian (and New Zealand) copyright law at present. These requirements often mean that copyright does not expire until 70 years after the death of the creator of the work. You may notice in the metadata for this image,en:c: File:Princes Wharf - SLV H91.250-327.jpg that there is a flag in the Licensing panel, requesting information about the copyright status in the US. The historic image you originally included in the draft is probably still covered by copyright for the purposes of Wikipedia. Marshelec (talk) 08:13, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

Invitation to Online meetups - Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand
[edit]Hi, I would like to invite you to attend the monthly online meetups of Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand. There are several Australian editors who regularly join in. The topics are often of wide interest - not solely related to New Zealand content or issues, and there are often useful things that can be learned, particularly when people raise questions about things they are finding difficult. Here is the generic page about the monthly meetups: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Aotearoa_New_Zealand_Online. We create an individual page for each event, linked from this page, to record the details. You will see that the next online meetup is scheduled for Sunday 17 September from midday NZ time. You would be most welcome. :) Marshelec (talk) 07:32, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
