A tag has been placed on File:Maruschka Waldus in Australia playing soccer Western Sydney Wanderers.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The file File:Maruschka Waldus playing for Western Sydney Wanderers 2017.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is no release to the public domain in the link to the permission statement. "Free" in this context refers to there being no licensing costs for small resolution images.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Twaldus. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Maruschka Waldus, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:39, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

June 2018

[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Whpq (talk) 14:16, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the permission asserted on the file talk page (https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=File_talk:Maruschka_Waldus_playing_for_Western_Sydney_Wanderers_2017.jpg&diff=prev&oldid=847595153), there are several problems.

  1. The permission from the photographer needs to be sent directly by the photographer, so simply pasting the email message on the file talk page is not sufficient.
  2. The email message from the photographer does not include a license statement. Images need to be released under an acceptably free license. Simply stating that it is okay to use on a Wikipedia page does not provide any information on licensing.
  3. The image itself is watermarked. Free images should not be watermarked. The photographer will need to provide an image that doesn't include his logo / name etc. on the photo itself.

Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission provides more information about requesting permission, and Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries provides a template permission letter that the photographer can use to release the image under a free license. If you have any questions, you can post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions where editors familiar with media copyright on Wikipedia can assist. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 14:27, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  1. The permission from the photograher was directly sent by the photographer
  2. The permission is clear to me
  3. The picture doesn't contain a watermark. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twaldus (talkcontribs)

If a permission email from the photographer has been sent to OTRS, then the photographer should have an OTRS ticket. You can upload the image and reference the OTRS ticket number with the upload. On the other hand, if by direct, you mean that the pasted email was direct to you from the photographer, then I'm afraid that is not sufficient for verification of permission. As for the clarity of permission, as explained at File talk:Maruschka Waldus playing for Western Sydney Wanderers 2017.jpg, "For use on Wikipedia" is not a valid release type. In order to be acceptable here the image must be under a license that allows anyone to use or modify the image, at any time, and for any purpose (including commercial reuse). The email form for this can be found here: c:COM:ET along with instructions. With respect to the watermark, with the image deleted, I can't see it and I really don't remember the images. I refer you to WP:WATERMARK for more information. My guess was the image probably included a credit somewhere. -- Whpq (talk) 22:32, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
