This page was originally for Young and Rubicam, part of Young and Rubicam Group, which still exists. VMLY&R is another whole thing all together.

If you look at history of the edits, it will say "02:25, 16 July 2020 Wikijd816 talk contribs m 27,978 bytes 0 Wikijd816 moved page Young & Rubicam to VMLY&R".

So this page was hijacked originally in 2020. I work at the company, so I know the current structure. TruthEditor3 (talk) 23:59, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reading my messages Asilvering and Drmies! I really wasn't trying to do anything bad, maybe there's some misunderstanding so I want to try and clarify:

I worked at Young and Rubicam Group (it includes many other advertising agencies such as GTB, Blast Radius, Direct Impact, and more), which was an offshoot of the original Young and Rubicam, whereas another part of the Y&R holding company was merged with VML creating VMLY&R, but it's not the original Young and Rubicam / Young and Rubicam Group!

Essentially 2 separate groups emerged from the original Young and Rubicam: 1. VMLY&R and 2. Young and Rubicam Group.

And I just want to restore the original Young and Rubicam page that Wikijd816 stole at 02:25, 16 July 2020 from Young & Rubicam to VMLY&R.

This is because without the original Young and Rubicam or Young and Rubicam Group Wikipedia page that was stolen by Wikijd816 in 2020, people will think the company I worked at is related to VML, which it is not! And they will not find me there!

So I currently see 2 solutions in order to present accurate information on Wikipedia:

A.

1. Revert current page to VMLY&R (Move / Change the name back to VMLY&R before I changed it today). And keep the VML content on the page.

2. And then I'll submit a new page for review for Young and Rubicam, or Young and Rubicam Group.

or

B.

1. Remove the content regarding VML in Young and Rubicam Group, since Young and Rubicam Group has nothing to do with VML, and this page was stolen by Wikijd816 in 2020, he should have created another page for VMLY&R.

2. Then create another page for VMLY&R, which by the way merged with another company called Wunderman Thompson to create just VML again (Lots of mergers in the industry), so it doesn't even exist anymore. There's actually already a page for VML (Agency), the new one!

Because like I said earlier, Young and Rubicam's operations was actually moved to Young and Rubicam Group (it's a separate legal entity, including many other advertising agencies), and only the Y&R holding company was merged with VML to a completely separate group VMLY&R and then merged again to just VML.

Currently it makes no sense having Young and Rubicam Group as Title, and having the content be about VMLY&R Group, since they're 2 separate groups! So something has to be done to present accurate information to the public.

Also, I'll be glad to revert what I have changed, all this happened in one night so I wasn't prepared for all these issues... I can always just move the page back to VMLY&R, and then I'll create a new one for admin review based on the old Young and Rubicam page so I won't interfere!

Firstly, I would like to apologize if my action offended people. I'm sorry. I just want to say that I wasn't trying to vandalize like they way I was accused, I was just changing the VMLY&R page to restore the original Young and Rubicam page that this page was moved from. Essentially, all I was trying to do was to restore original Young and Rubicam page because it was hijacked by VMLY&R in 2020 as mentioned in my reply to Drmies. So I basically took the name back, and removed VML content, which has nothing to do with Young and Rubicam. But I understand maybe he's trying to say not to do that, judging by his ban. So if unblocked, I'll revert the page back to VMLY&R, and submit my own page with sources for review with Wikipedia admins for Young and Rubicam Group, which is a different entity altogether, nothing to do with VML. Sorry, I won't make any more changes that I was doing tonight. But I was definitely not trying to vandalize. Sorry if I inconvenienced anyone, I was literally blocked within the hour I was editing, I wasn't aware that I can't do those changes. I wasn't trying to cause any trouble.
