[edit]I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Fritz Umgelter, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

Hi DP - there may be some confusion over at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Erik Rush (2nd nomination) as to exactly which article has been nominated for deletion. May be as well to keep watching the debate to see whether you need to amend your comments. Grutness...wha? 01:03, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
If you close an AFD, it is a good idea to follow up by removing the AFD notice from the article and noting the AFD on the talk page, at the top, like the first AFD. Thanks. Edison (talk) 02:51, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Edison, I think you may have gotten the wrong user on this one. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 03:17, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I thought you were talking about the first AfD, which an admin (Wizardman) closed, and stirred up this whole thread of wikidrama.
- Also, type importScript('User:Mr.Z-man/closeAFD.js'); into the bottom of your Monobook.js page. That gives you an easier AfD closer. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 03:24, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

You Need to Preview Your Edits
[edit]This is in reference to this edit you made which reinforced an earlier stupidity and reverted a good faith edit from an anonymous user. Use the preview button next time. -- Veggy (talk) 05:24, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry about that, I do preview my edits, and it's possible that my finger slipped. Huggle, which is the tool I use, always shows the diffs for every single edit I make. Furthermore, I make around 200 Huggle reverts an hour, so it's very possible that something like this passes by me without my noticing. However, your tone just really irks me. I have nothing wrong with you pointing out my error; I in fact welcome it. But when I call myself an idiot, it's quite justified, yet when you do, even if it is justified, I obviously get annoyed. Please refrain from calling my edits "stupidity" and "idiocy." Further, I'd like it if you took a look at WP:GF, which you referenced. While the edit that was originally made was in good faith, my revert was in good faith as well. Also take a look at WP:CIV too. If you are going to point out my faults, you can do this in a far better way. I haven't made any grevious mistake nor have I attacked you in any way. If you have any further questions, let me know. Thanks. DARTH PANDAduel 16:08, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. I didn't mean your stupidity—I meant the stupidity of whoever put High School Musical in the list of villains. I don't think you meant to reinforce that, it's a mistake, I understand; but, you're not stupid. -- Veggy (talk) 21:38, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- And that's what I get for jumping to conclusions. My deepest, deepest, apologies. I should at least follow my own guidelines, shouldn't I? I completely misread what you wrote... [edit]Thanks for catching and reverting the IP addition to the article, which was a WP:BLP violation. Just so you're aware I've put the article under protection from IP edits for the next week, just to be on the safe side. 23skidoo (talk) 17:28, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Further, if you have more time and you want this script to see widespread usage, you should create some preferences such as the ability to mark your edits as minor (I personally don't mark AfD votes as minor unless I'm commenting or fixing something) and the ability to auto-watch pages you vote on (which I usually do after voting). If you believe that this page is not redundant to information security, I'm willing to go along with that. I moved to comport with the capitalization standards of the style manual. Capitalized three letter acronyms make me suspicious, and also make my skin crawl. You may want to look at Security Information Management, which I proposed for deletion around the same time: that one looks even more like crypto-spam. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 21:20, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Enquiring why addition to article was deleted
[edit]Hello I recently attempted to make an addition to an the article about an old computer game called "The Cosmic Balance". I'm a noob so initially I thought the problem was on my end hense the three attempts to edit the article; sorry about that. The change was initially rejected by Darth Panda as "it appears to be unconstuctive"; what does that mean, and what can I do to fix it?
Oh, I asked this also in the discussion section of the article, so if that was wrong of me to do so there as well please except my appologies and remove the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.210.164.158 (talk) 22:27, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I may have been out of hand warning an edit like that; under WP:GF, and as your words show me, you are editing to help the Encyclopedia. Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself. Under WP:GAMEGUIDE, the information you added is too specific for the article and therefore should not be included. Hopefully, that clears up the confusion. I've removed the warnings from your page as well. Thanks, and happy Wiki-ing! DARTH PANDAduel 01:23, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. Would it be more proper then, as I have seen with other articles here, to make it a separate article with some kind of link. For example article "The United States", separate article "The History of the United States"; that kind of thing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.210.164.158 (talk) 15:10, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, under WP:GAMEGUIDE, such an article would be likely to be deleted. DARTH PANDAduel 15:55, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh, then such information would have to be made available with a web resource outside of wikipedia and then maybe given in the external links section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.210.164.158 (talk) 16:31, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Correct. However, be careful with placing links. Take a look at WP:LINKS to see if your links would pass. I'm not entirely clear on this issue, so it may be a good idea to post on the talk page of the article first (and if there isn't any response, you might as well go ahead and post the links). If you're absolutely sure that the links are proper, feel free to just put them in. DARTH PANDAduel 01:27, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
A question concerning your deletion of Sir Neville Bowles Chaimberlain
[edit]Excuse me, i am a direct bloodline of him and i would like to know why you took off my edit of his life. What is on now is not complete, he had a family kept in secrecy. If you wish to deny this, i have a biography written by my great uncle. If you would be so kind is to respect my family and revert the deletion of my edit, it took a long time to get that information from my father. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.158.106.141 (talk) 02:26, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- The article that edits that you are referencing is unsourced. Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not consider your dad to be a reliable source. Therefore, unless you can come up with another source with which to substantiate your claims, my reversion will stay. Thanks! DARTH PANDAduel 03:29, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
I have written proof... Dates.. eye witness's's..'s.... Its not like very many people read that one article.... i need it to be there so my family, and me have an easyer way to read about him.. without having to read a huge book... Please kind..sir... it would be quite helpful... And btw.. i have written to websites containing info about him, like the i think it was national or american snooker association. A question, if you are not as empethetic as i assumed.... to my poor...poor soul (note the sadness) then if i could get a reliable source of the information-like the snooker association for example, you would remove it?
Thanks for, if you do, taking the time to read this. Your biggest fan? (flattery works all the time) I LOVE YOU!!!! (Fanboy) Lucas Dawson.

- Ah, but the internet is srs bsns. If you have information on websites, feel free to cite the sources. However, per WP:NOTWEBHOST, Wikipedia isn't some place to host information about your great uncle. Furthermore, I don't see how he passes WP:BIO. Please take a look at all of my previously mentioned Wikipedia policy pages. If your courses satisfy WP:RS and your uncle passes WP:BIO, the page can stay. Thanks! Don't hesitate to ask more questions! DARTH PANDAduel 04:00, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
HG-based reversion of Ringfencing
[edit]Ringfencing had a {{dicdef}} header among other issues. In response, I (as 68.167.252.117 (talk)) introduced a Wikipedia:Soft redirect, which seems an appropriate response. Why did you think a reversion was appropriate in this case? Please consider reverting your reversion. Thanks. 67.100.125.142 (talk) 05:42, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Mannheim Steamroller
[edit]No problem. I understand how those things go. BTW, while I have your ear, I could use some advice. On Miller Beach, there is an IP user who continually makes changes to the article to negate the fact that the community in question is a neighborhood of Gary, Indiana, choosing instead to reflect on its past as an established town, and slanting the article with a bias against Gary; I've cautioned the user a number of times, yet he persists in his NPOV changes. I reported him as a vandal once before, but was admonished and told that it was a content-based dispute. Is there any sort of recourse I have outside of continually reverting his NPOV changes? --Mhking (talk) 21:35, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- I would report him for WP:3RR and WP:EDITWAR. I don't think a report on WP:AIV would suffice. Try WP:AN3 for now. Hopefully, that should solve your problem! It wouldn't hurt to mention that the edits that the IP is making are unsourced. DARTH PANDAduel 21:54, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

You can find the page here: User:Life of Riley/Short-lived accounts. Feel free to add an account to the list if you find one with a very short life. •Life of Riley (talk) 04:02, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Haha, if I see anything, I'll let you know. 11 minutes is pretty impressive though! DARTH PANDAduel 12:46, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Roux
[edit]I understand 100% what he says and I believe 100% that it is hypocritical and unethical. Saying that he can't oppose because he is listed is ridiculous and denies that he is a Wikipedian. All Wikipedians have the right to oppose anyone. Opposing them because they opposed another is hypocritical. Ottava Rima (talk) 00:31, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- So, being a candidate means that you don't have your opinions anymore? And that is not unfair? Everyone should equally have the right to oppose, and opposing someone because of their oppose is hypocritical by definition. We are not special because we are in office. The guidelines even state that they have the right to express their opinion. It seems absurd to say that they are special and shouldn't do that, especially when most have their friends doing the very same thing and thats perfectly acceptable. Oppose over an issue. Oppose over a candidate. But opposing because you don't think they should oppose others is ridiculous because it is a double standard. Ottava Rima (talk) 01:46, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- "I have absolutely no clue who your candidate is" Thats the point! :) I didn't mention the name, because the name doesn't matter. I only pointed out a double standard so people realize what they are saying. I told him he can oppose for whatever reason, but that oppose was ridiculous because of the double standard it proposes. And opposing everyone else to swing an election is what elections are about. I voted oppose for people who I didn't want elected. Most people did. There is also tons of canvassing to draw up support. Thats what elections are about. Campaigning is part of an election. Voting against your opposition is part of one too. Its silly to think that we should support people, especially when some people really shouldn't be supported. Ottava Rima (talk) 01:53, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- "Roux is entitled to his own opinion as well" Sure, and we are both entitled to challenge and discuss one another's opinions. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any communication on Wikipedia. No? I don't mind Roux, nor do I have a problem with him. The accusations of lying, being on crack, a drunkard, etc, thrown at may be improper, but still. Thats part of life. :) Ottava Rima (talk) 02:02, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Threat? So, saying that someone is applying a standard, and saying that you would bring up that standard is a "threat"? If so, how is that not 100% exactly what RfAs and ArbCom elections are about? Those are the very foundation of why and how you vote for someone. Their past action and past words are an essential part. If you want to dismiss them as a threat, you are definitely using the term in a way that is contradictory to Wikipedia. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:15, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

"It's fine for you to bring it up at the later date, but it is not acceptable to threaten them that you will bring it up."
Okay, lets get to the bottom of this. You define threat as a promise to do an action that (I assume) results in a negative, yes? Traditionally, a threat requires a demand, and mostly a demand that would reward the threatener in some way. I stated that he can oppose on any reason, and that I didn't care. I just pointed out a double standard, and that if he did the same, then it would come back. Regardless, it seems far more ethical to tell someone blatantly so they can correct it, than to sit on it until the last minute, use it as a reason to crush someone, and not tell them. Or is that wrong? Ottava Rima (talk) 02:28, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't expect him to change his vote, nor do I ever expect him. He went from a support to an oppose. I pointed out the double standard in the language. I mean, he already seemed to like the candidate, and said that he supported him morally, but not for the action. I thought that was a tad silly. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:35, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I just wanted to leave a note pointing that out. Hindsight 20/20 always says that it was probably serving less of a purpose than the problems that it causes. I just figured that he would ignore it like the others. You know, take it into consideration, and maybe it will have him be self aware in the future. Adam Smith stated that we shape our civic identity based on how others view us and how they either praise or criticize our conduct. He wasn't always right, but that seems to be legitimate. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:42, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- Haha, you got burned by that wording. :) Wording seems to be a killer around here. Regardless, its all philosophy, really. I see no dividing line, others do. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:47, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

- Aww, crap, that was worded very poorly. That's what I get for not proofreading. Let me go fix that. DARTH PANDAduel 02:43, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Albertgenii for Albertgenii12
[edit]hello, Darth Panda. I am not Albertgenii. He is someone different than me. I am Albertgenii12. Albertgenii12 (talk) 15:25, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have no clue what you are talking about. I have not made such a claim, nor does it change the fact that you made a page that consisted of utter gibberish. DARTH PANDAduel 16:06, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
