FA vandalism
In prior debates about the TFA process, you mentioned that many editors are averse to having their articles placed on the main page due to the difficulty of dealing with vandalism. If any articles on the list I am working on at the TFA/R talk page, which will include all TFA eligible 2003, 2004 & 2005 FAs, has any such articles let me know.
Also please respond to my followup query on said page. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 16:43, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have responded on the talk page at Featured article requests; your incorrect strikes of articles in archives will create a future mess, and I'm beginning to see this work as disruptive. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
I've left them a message. If you add the disambig to Wigwam (Chicago) please make sure it is on all the uses of Wigwam. Thanks Asics talk Editor review! 19:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Request
Hi,
I am Alaa Abdul Hadi, Miss Iraq 1996 and I currently work for the Talat Organization, we run the Talat Pageants and Talat Model Management among other businesses, I admire Wikipedia for its excellent reference and information, however we seem to have some trouble regarding the Claudia Hanna article, whilst on the talk and discussion page we have continued to correct the misleading and false information that is stated in the article, we have seen no changes nor any steps taken towards deleting or correcting the article, while when we posted some information regarding the pageant, it was deleted.
I understand if our information doesnt conform to standards, that is not an issue and we can hold on until our website is published, however our concern is that Miss Hanna or someone else might market her as Miss Iraq 2006 and even though the 2007 Miss Iraq pageant has taken place, we dont want her using a title that she never had.
if you require information regarding the pageant or photos of Miss Iraq 2006, please contact us at

Well, I can't userfy both pages; they've already been deleted and I'm not an admin, so I'm unable to go through the deleted archives and get them. You'll have to ask someone who's actually an admin to userfy the pages for you. NeoChaosX (talk, walk) 22:19, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

I have complained and provided links to the Claudia hanna article and it seems that no one wants that article deleted and despite the false claims it makes, no one seems to bother deleting or changing its content.
however when we post authentic information, its deleted.
Please verify the reason. I am keen on knowing the strange fascination some administrators have with regard to that article.
I will file a compalaint againt until that Claudia Hanna article is either deleted or corrected.

Your template on the article page

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Helen Johnson-Leipold, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Miss Iraq
Thanks sweetie
you have been so sweet and kind, I apologize for taking your time, we have no problem with Claudia Hanna and whilst we contacted the official owners of Miss Arab World and their comment was that this version of the 2006 Miss Arab World was an unofficial version organized by an Egyptain lady whom they (owners of MISS ARAB WORLD Trade mark) have legal issues with because she did not get a license from them.
our problem is that Miss Hanna should be allocated the name 'Iraq' or MISS ARAB WORLD-IRAQ for the trademark "MISS IRAQ" is owned by TALAT ORGANIZATION.
and there has been a change now in Claudia Hanna's article, however there is one mistake still existing, which is
"Claudia Hanna is a 21 year old Assyrian Christian. Hanna and her family fled Iraq for Syria after the 2003 invasion, citing Islamic extremism persecution, like many other Assyrians.
On September 9, 2006, Hanna won the Miss Iraq pageant which was held in Sharm Al-Sheikh, Egypt. She was the Miss Iraq represented at Miss Arab World 2006 paegant, where she finished as the runner-up."
THE CORRECTION IS THAT SHE WON FIRST RUNNER UP AT MISS ARAB WORLD 2006 and She was never in any National Pageant that beared the Name " IRAQ", she competed as an Iraqi delegate into Miss Arab World without having won any preliminary National Contest, had she been Miss Iraq-Arab World, or Miss Arab World-Iraq that wouldnt be a problem.
Im glad that the statement that stated that she had recieved the title from Silva Sahagian is removed because its not true, now I would like to make this correction.
Claudia took the first runner up title to Miss Arab World and then took over as Miss Arab World 2006 when the Initial winner from Tunisia's contract as MISS ARAB WORLD 2006 was terminated.
OFFICIAL SOURCE OF THE OFFICIAL MISS ARAB WORLD IS available on www.missarabworld.com
where you will notice that they dont have any photo or list of past winners because they still havent had the time to organize an Official Pageant, although they own the NAME /TRADE MARK OF MISS ARAB WORLD. Nimrod1976 11:52, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
MISS IRAQ contribution
Hi,
as for my contribution, I think its best that we wait until we launch the official sites, I misunderstood again so i posted the Miss Iraq article and edited it, and it was deleted, I have to be frank, im in no mood to read six million pages as i were applying for an entry into the U.N and wiki is too complicated for me.
Im not an expert, I apologize for any inconvenience and thank you again for your time and kind efforts to help us out, I guess I should reciprocate by inviting you and sending you tickets to the 2008 Miss Iraq pageant that will be held in Troy-Turkey in March 2008.
This is our way of showing gratitude for your kind efforts.
I guess we will wait and have all that information on the official website, is best.
Sincerely,
Alaa Abdul Hadi
I will get the password for the mriraq profile and get that profile deleted and the other one as well the manpreet1976.
Thanks again & keep in touch.

My concern about your username
Hello, TonyTheTiger, and welcome to Wikipedia.
I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?
I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.
You have several options freely available to you:
- If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
- If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as asking for a "third opinion", or requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
- You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.
Let me reassure you that my writing here means I don't think your username is grossly, blatantly, or obviously inappropriate; such names get reported straight to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism or blocked on sight. This is more a case where opinions might differ, and it would be good to reach some consensus — either here or at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names. So I look forward to a friendly discussion, and to enjoying your continued participation on Wikipedia. Thank you again! Wǐkǐɧérṃǐť(Talk) 20:19, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: ChicagoWikiProject template
To add a photo request to the {{ChicagoWikiProject}} template, you might want to take a look at {{TrainsWikiProject}}, which has a photo request parameter. I believe it puts the article into a category of articles with requested photos.
The template syntax for that might be getting a little intricate, though. As an alternative, you could always use the {{reqphotoin}} template separately from {{ChicagoWikiProject}}, or make some variation on it for Chicago-specific requests. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 16:46, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
HELP
Hi,

Assyrian Page
Hi,
I think that more reliable sources should be inserted, and claims that Assyrians and Chaldeans are one is false, it need to be re-written with objective information and all political and propaganda information should be deleted or edited
2- also I think that since there is no official source from the governments of the listed nations especially Iraq (which the article claims is their homeland) and since scientists have agreed that the name "Assyrian" is used to the modren day community as reference to an Orthodox Church and No Historical connection is evident of the Modern Day Assyrians and the Semitic people who once lived in the land between two rivers ( Mesopotamia)
3- also they should add that the information they claim is sourced to Political parties and groups and that No Official Governments has acknowleged such claims.
4- Childo Assyrians in Iraq as referred to as ORTHODOX Christians and NOT as an Ethnic Group. " for example I can claim that I am an Iraqi citizen of Arab and Indian descent, but can I say that Im a Babylonian? No, even If i lived in Babylon it would be an association to a geographical location and NOT the semitic Chaldean community that once lived there.
The Modern Day Chaldeans are also a Christian group and some are Orthodox and some are Catholic and others are Protestant and all such names are a direct reference to these Churches that beat those names.
a sign of NOT OFFICIAL or Not yet proved should be added in my view. The Official communities of Iraq are Arabs, Kurds, Turkomens ( Caucasian Iraqis who are settlers from Turkey and former Soviet Union who came to Iraq when Iraq was under Ottoman rule). and Christians are mainly Arab , Armenians or Syriac's these are Indo europeans from asia minor who are now knows as Assyrians, The Chaldeans as well are mainly Arabs who are Christians and have a linguistic form that pertains to greek dialects and associated with the Greek Church.
as for Claudia Hanna, is there a possibility of removing that article or having it reviewed and then deleted. since there are no references and still the information there is questionable. unless "Iraq" is used without the "MISS" prefix.
Thanks Alaa
I got the password for MrIraq profile but I was not able to delete it, and I couldnt delete the manpreet1976 which I had started. so i will just ignore those two profiles.

Hi, Tony! As you may have seen from the talk page of the template, we've a) got Michael Jordan working (though Quadzilla seems to oppose using the banner shell), and b) it's a bit difficult to use with WPBio at the moment. They're supposed to be updating it shortly, so it should work better in the next couple days, but for now we have to use a hack to get it to work correctly. If you want to add the BannerShell to any pages, be sure to read {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} and {{BannerShell}} to see how they work. Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 00:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

ChiWikiProj importance
i would agree that restraint needs to be shown regarding article ratings and ratings should be reviewed/discussed. however, i would offer that a project focusing on the broad subject matter of a city could have more than 1:1000 top class articles. for example, WikiProject Math has about 90 of 750 (12%)articles rated as top, and WikiProject Architecture has about 400 of 6500 (6%). personally, i strongly lean toward the lower number and below 5%. as stub count increases in proportion to other classes, the percentage may go toward 3%. in providing broad coverage, top importance articles regarding art, history, industy, architecture, politics, and sports among others will be created and/or improved. five top-rated articles in each category may not be too much, and might not be enough.
i agree STRONGLY with the following portions criteria from WikiProject Biograpgy: High probability that non-Chicagoans would look this up. Must have had a large impact outside of their main discipline, across several generations, and in the majority of the world. my opinion of a top importance article is historical content that "forms the basis of knowledge".
related ideas for how to define top importance for the chiproject include:
- items designated as BOTH chicago landmarks and national historic landmarks are likely worth at least medium importance. the historical significance and notariety is already proven, given the NHL status. for example, from the Chicago Landmarks list.
- articles previously rated as top importance by other projects should be considered for high and top importance. for example, the CBOT building, not withstanding also being a NHL.
- an article such as Chicago school (architecture) forms the foundation of knowledge for the entire type of specific architecture and forms the basis of content for many Chciago architecture articles. this article would merit strong consideration for top importance.
- historical value would be valued more than recentism. for example, Al Capone would likely merit top importance due to notariety and strong ties to the gangster era, chicago history, and prohibition. michael jordan would likely merit top importance due to notariety in college athletics, pro athletics, strong tie to city, and global prominence. barack obama might not merit top importance, primarily due to the nature of content being recent, not forming a basis of knowledge, and not having comparable global recognition.
- the importance rating should reflect the "fabric of the city", e.g. does the subject strongly contribute to the identity of the city? a subjective question, for sure, and one that should be able to be answered by the references in an article.
- encourage discussion of ratings on talk pages. encourage discussion for prominent articles on the primary project page.
briefly, other articles that may be worthy of consideration, based on the above criteria, for top importance include: Chicago school, Sears Tower, CBOT building, Soldier Field, Lincoln Park, Wrigley Field, Chicago Theatre, the developing Featured List for Chicago Landmarks, O'Hare airport, CTA, Lake Michigan, etc.

Response to WP:OWN
thank you for wanting to proactively address any issues. i want to be clear that my comments regarding adminship was not a complaint, but more of an observation/perception, which is all we have in this faceless medium. to your request, i don't have an example where you have failed to attempt to resolve an issue. i offer that some communications, whether with myself or others, are perceived as (1) "why did you do that? (put too high of a rating on an article)", (2) "here is how it should be done! (only 1:1000 articles are top importance)", and (3) "previous efforts are incorrect (ratings on shedd aquarium)".
regarding WPChi:
- i greatly appreciate all of your efforts to drive the project
- i desire for the project to develop all guidelines collectively
- i assume all efforts are in good faith
specifically regarding the policy under development:
- why post on a talk page that ratings are "too liberal" and that "less than 1 in 1000 article should be rated as top" without having criteria for the ratings? what is the source of authority? if after noticing regular contributors making importance or class ratings, i would personally prefer being asked what my criteria are for making ratings. from my responses to you and on the project page, i clearly have offered well thought ideas on how to classify articles and am supportive of forming
- i am an inclusionist, so the more of something on wiki is usually for the better. holding to strict percentages of importance at the beginning may hold prevent a article deserving of top importance from receiving the rating because low and medium importance article count is low. the suggestion that "We probably should delete a top for everyone we add until we have 6000 articles tagged in our project" would support the previous scenario until article count is high.
- is this a "policy" or a guideline? the word policy is so restrictive for wiki efforts, imo.
specifically regarding adminship: i want admins to speak softly like grandma, but be able to backhand anyone off of the porch for talking back. admin grandma will let the crumbs fall (AfD), let the grandkids kids bicker (policy development), and cleans up after bridge club (maintains COTW). when visitors get out of line (vandalism) or parents argue (NPOV discussions), grandma lays down the law, typically in private. as a longtime contributor, i know that grandma does all of this in the background to keep my playland safe. when i communicate with grandma, all communications on both sides are phrased as questions or suggestions, ideas are ideas not rules or policy, etc. grandma is a nice lady that rarely needs to go into the cupboard (for admin tools).

SatyrBot and WP:Chicago
The bot's set up and ready to run tonight. Please keep an eye on User talk:SatyrBot/Current project. Thanks!! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 22:34, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
I believe I have the needs-photo, needs-infobox, and attention fields of {{ChicagoWikiProject}} working. Give it a shot and see if you have any problems with them. I was experimenting in my sandbox and in {{X9}}, so if you see those stray articles showing up in Chicago categories, you'll know where they came from. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 16:33, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- I believe I've fixed the "needs-photo" parameter of the template, and I also removed the article comments section of the template. As far as the disambiguation and template categories are concerned, I'm not sure what you're asking for. Are you saying that you want to allow the "class" parameter to take on other values such as "dab", "cat", and "template" as is done in {{WikiProject Minnesota}}, or something else? Let me know and I can look into doing it. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 21:04, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
- I re-inserted the comments on the Jordan subpage, basically because thousands of pages have content, such as here, rather than deleting the subpages the template's code shuld be changed so that they don't all appear on the template. Quadzilla99 01:21, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- I see the code is fixed everything is fine then. Quadzilla99 01:35, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Could you help me write this article?
Hello,
I was wondering if you would be willing to help me write either Seikichi_Iha or Shorin-ryu_Shido-kan. Tkjazzer 21:48, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Chicago College of Performing Arts
Hey Tony-- The CCPA is actually a college within Roosevelt University. It's the same as the school of business, or arts and sciences, etc. The CCPA merged with Roosevelt in the 50's so it's techinically not it's own college. All of the accredidation and administrative aspects are done by RU and the CCPA just runs the conservatory for their students.--Twintone 16:48, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
GA review
Marquette Building (Chicago) is currently undergoing a Good article review. Feel free to join the discussion at the preceding link. IvoShandor 07:32, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- I am glad you realize that there is nothing personal involved in this. I have seen your work around and have respect for you as an editor. As a side note, as far as the broadness notes go, I will do some research on my own and see what I come up with, I luckily have access from home to databases such as JSTOR and others that will help here. My only concern is to make this article shine. I generally do a lot of work on Illinois Registered Historic Places outside of Chicago, I figure you guys got the Windy City stuff nailed down pretty good, although I will be doing a bunch of work on Frank Lloyd Wright Buildings once I get over to Oak Park to shoot a bunch of them, the city as well. Good luck with this review, when all is said and done things will likely be fine, these things can last for a long time. IvoShandor 01:30, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- i ran across the review today and will give the article attention. initial thoughts include:
- i generally agree with comments on the GA review page regarding breadth and depth of content. as compared to CBOT building, the article doesn't provide enough detail of why this building is a ChiLandmark, NRHP, or NHL. can we put the review on hold for a week for a little collaboration?
- secondarily, as with IvoShandor, most of my work is on NRHP, architecture, and buildings. if you would like assistance with these sort of articles prior to -or- after submission for GA review, drop me a line on my talk page referencing the article. i'll be happy to peer edit, copy edit, and add references.
- one of the comments mentioned on the review page was about the chicago banner being somewhat poorly linked and having visual clutter. i agree with being poorly linked or organized, and am wondering if you have thoughts on what we could do to improve the banner? i believe the banner could be useful as the project and article content expands, especially if the individual banner links reference the most popular or significant categories. multistep effort, for sure. {{ChicagoWikiProject}} again
I made some more changes to {{ChicagoWikiProject}} so articles with comments would show up with their comments, but articles without comments wouldn't have the text showing up saying "This article has no comments, click here to leave some, etc." I think you were also asking me about problems with Category:Disambig-Class_Chicago_articles not showing up correctly. Is this still a problem, or is it fixed? I see one item showing up in that category (Talk:Washington Park, Chicago). If there are others that should show up there, let me know and I'll check to see if anything funny is going on with them. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 03:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- I made the change so the category will be populated, but without the comments showing inline. Do you want a link to the comments to be displayed? --Elkman (Elkspeak) 16:28, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I've added a link to the comments page if it exists. Let me know if you need anything else. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 17:04, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Paul Cornell GA
Is it possible to put Paul Cornell back on hold. I never knew it was on hold. I will address your concerns tomorrow. TonyTheTiger (talk/cont/bio) 22:00, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

- Tony, I am sorry I didn't see any activity, so I went ahead and failed it. Why don't you make the changes and then we can resubmit it? It needs A LOT of work. Argos'Dad 22:06, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi Tony. I do not understand what you mean by my referencing style. Generally, the book formed the backbone, and I left a thing at the bottom of each paragraph, generally pointing to the range of 10 pages in the Hunter bio for events. After Taxman pointed out that having more than one source was desired, I went and supplemented them with individual Swiminfo reports. However, these are often not as detailed as the article text and the biographical book. (Unfortunately Swiminfo isn't that rich, since Swimming is not a rich sport, so they only have 1-2 journos writing these things, so their reports aren't as detailed as perhaps an Australian newspaper, except that most of the newspapers aren't online). Completed second run
Hi, Tony! Completed the second run last night, which means 73 categories totaling 4,220 articles have. You can see a short summary of the articles that have been tagged on the User:SatyrBot/Project list, with links to the complete log pages.
I noticed this post on the Bot Request board. Did you want me to stop running SatyrBot on this project? I'm going to pause until I hear back from you, just in case. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 14:01, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- THANKS THANKS THANKS to all for the tagging efforts. we need to take a look at the logs for the second run. i found articles such as City of San Francisco tagged with the WPChi project banner. bot archive 35 is where i found some of the cities listed. ChicagoPimp 18:54, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- i don't have many ideas about improper tagging of railroads or other. my thoughts are that the project members scan the list and check the talk pages of any article that seems clearly out of place, e.g. san fran. that should take care of the most glaring errors, other errors will be thrown out as other projects review talk page changes, others will be thrown out as WPChi members start browsing the tagged lists, others will be thrown out during later editing, etc. of the nearly 5000 tags, a 10% error rate is an acceptable tradeoff to get a handle on the articles in scope, have a baseline from which to do class ratings, etc.
- secondarily, other ideas for categories to tag with the bot include private schools in chicago, churches in chicago, synagogues in chicago, etc. i found several private school articles not tagged. ChicagoPimp 19:13, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- My bad - I didn't read the bot request fully :)
- Those are all good additions that I would like to make to SatyrBot. Unfortunately, RL is interfering at the moment and I'm going to be away from the computer for about a week, starting tomorrow afternoon.
- I did forget to tell you about the railroads, didn't I? Sorry about that! I've taken out:
- Category:Amtrak
- Category:Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
- Category:Baltimore and Ohio Railroad
- Category:BNSF Railway
- Category:Chesapeake and Ohio Railway
- Category:Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad
- Category:Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville Railway
- Category:Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad
- Category:Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad
- Category:Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway
- Category:Conrail
- Category:CSX Transportation
- Category:Erie Lackawanna Railway
- Category:Erie Railroad
- Category:Grand Trunk Railway
- Category:Illinois Central Railroad
- Category:Kansas City Southern Railway
- Category:Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway
- Category:Michigan Central Railroad
- Category:Missouri Pacific Railroad
- Category:New York Central Railroad
- Category:New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad
- Category:Norfolk and Western Railway
- Category:Norfolk Southern Railway
- Category:Penn Central Transportation
- Category:Pennsylvania Railroad
- Category:Pere Marquette Railway
- Category:Perfect Strangers characters
- Category:Soo Line Railroad
- Category:Union Pacific Railroad
- Category:Wabash Railroad
- I also took out a couple TV shows, since I figured any Chicago-based characters would also be in Category:Fictional Chicagoans:
- I'll go ahead and set up the next run of 50 categories. The bot doesn't always get through all 50 (I only let it run for about seven hours at a time), but I think it will get through all the categories in the next two runs that I'll be able to set up before I have to leave. Glad this is all working out okay - and when I get back, I'll make those changes to the bot so it can tag categories, templates, etc.
- Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 21:10, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Pat Ryan
Well, if the other article was more developed, perhaps I would be able to learn why Pat Ryan the executive was more notable than a world champion curler. However, nothing in his bio leads me to this case, plus there aren't very many pages that link to Pat Ryan the executive compared to Pat Ryan the curler. -- Earl Andrew - talk 02:20, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Google is not the judge of these things. We're dealing with someone who won his World Championships well before google ever existed. Of course he's not going to have as many google links. -- Earl Andrew - talk 16:57, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I disagree. -- Earl Andrew - talk 17:25, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
IL v. Chicago
I just saw your comment about the project tags. Sorry. If I were you I would just add them both if you're unsure, it looks like talk pages are slowly being cleaned up and templates combined into show/hide type menus, way cool, I have seen them on some of the GAs, a couple of mine have them. So too many banners may soon be a thing of the past. Another alternative is just to add a link to the Illinois project in small text at the bottom of the Chicago Project template, something like: This article is also within the scope of WikiProject Illinois. Then you kill two with one yada ya. Hope that helps. IvoShandor 15:44, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm. That's a lot of articles, more likely to be edited by Chicago Project members, hold off on tagging anything Illinois. I suppose it should be assessed on a case by case basis maybe? There are certain Chicago pages that probably attract a wider variety of editors than other more specialized ones, I would think. To be honest, I am not sure how this should be treated, I mean, to me, the projects should work together more closely, bigger pool of editors that way. IvoShandor 16:01, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well, um, well. I don't know, I am on the fence as what to do, because we wouldn't want to tag a lot of athletes with fleeting connections to the state with the Illinois tag too, obviously some of them should be, take Jim Thome, for example. There are also a lot of other Chicago related articles that are of key importance to the whole state. Landmarks, people, etc. If there were a way to get the bot to exclude certain categories when tagging with Illinois tags that would be cool, but I know little of such things. IvoShandor 16:12, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- Can we use this bot for Illinois or do we have to get it approved, we do, don't we, I mean if we copy it and make it an Illinois bot, or maybe we could just use the one you have occassionally? IvoShandor 16:17, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Thank you sir, for the information. I will take it to the project with zeal. In the meantime, what to do about figuring out if articles should be dual tagged? IvoShandor 16:23, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Douglas Park
Clearly, whoever put that address on the Chicago Park District page was thinking Avenue because Sacramento is an Avenue for most of its length. But if you try to look up the address on google, yahoo or mapquest, they all lay an egg and ask if you mean North Sacramento. The address is a Drive. Speciate 19:02, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Image-class parameter within {{ChicagoWikiProject}}
I was looking at adding an Image-class parameter within {{ChicagoWikiProject}}, but I was wondering what category to put them into. There's Category:Images of Chicago, Illinois, but the category contains the actual pictures themselves. I'm thinking that it's more useful to have the pictures in the category, so people can browse through them visually. What do you think?
Also, as far as Needed-class articles go, I haven't heard of them before. I'm not sure you can tag something as being an article that's needed unless the article already exists, but that would make it a stub, not an article that's needed (i.e. a hole to be filled). Do you have any examples I can look at? --Elkman (Elkspeak) 19:17, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Hey Tony, hope all is well. I haven't had a chance to dig up any sources yet for Marquette Building, I have looked a bit, not in depth. Anyway, the reason for this post is, I was wondering if you, and the Chicago project would mind holding off on any collaborations/expansions of Stagg Field, as I was hoping to get to do that one myself. I have only really had the opportunity to work on one other Illinois National Historic Landmark, University of Illinois Observatory, which I brought to GA, so far. Anyway, I haven't noticed any planned collaborations or anything I just thought I would request this now as to prevent any future conflicts, if this is a problem, perhaps we could collaborate on the article? IvoShandor 13:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- Most excellent. No worries, as I will make the article sparkle. Thanks for the quick reply. IvoShandor 13:20, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
