WikiCup 2015 September newsletter
The finals for the 2015 Wikicup has now begun! Congrats to the 8 contestants who have survived to the finals, and well done and thanks to everyone who took part in rounds 3 and 4.
In round 3, we had a three-way tie for qualification among the wildcard contestants, so we had 34 competitors. The leader was by far Casliber (submissions) in Group B, who earned 1496 points. Although 913 of these points were bonus points, he submitted 15 articles in the DYK category. Second place overall was Coemgenus (submissions) at 864 points, who although submitted just 2 FAs for 400 points, earned double that amount for those articles in bonus points. Everyone who moved forward to Round 4 earned at least 100 points.
The scores required to move onto the semifinals were impressive; the lowest scorer to move onto the finals was 407, making this year's Wikicup as competitive as it's always been. Our finalists, ordered by round 4 score, are:
- Cas Liber (submissions), who is competing in his sixth consecutive Wikicup final, again finished the round in first place, with an impressive 1666 points in Pool B. Casliber writes about the natural sciences, including ornithology, botany and astronomy. A large bulk of his points this round were bonus points.
- Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points), second place both in Pool B and overall, earned the bulk of his points with FPs, mostly depicting currency.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions), first in Pool A, came in third. His specialty is natural science articles; in Round 4, he mostly submitted articles about insects and botany. Five out of the six of the GAs he submitted were level-4 vital articles.
- Harrias (submissions), second in Pool A, took fourth overall. He tends to focus on articles about cricket and military history, specifically the 1640s First English Civil War.
- West Virginian (submissions), from Pool A, was our highest-scoring wildcard. West Virginia tends to focus on articles about the history of (what for it!) the U.S. state of West Virginia.
- Rodw (submissions), from Pool A, likes to work on articles about British geography and places. Most of his points this round were earned from two impressive accomplishments: a GT about Scheduled monuments in Somerset and a FT about English Heritage properties in Somerset.
- Rationalobserver (submissions), from Pool B, came in seventh overall. RO earned the majority of her points from GARs and PRs, many of which were earned in the final hours of the round.
- Calvin999 (submissions), also from Pool B, who was competing with RO for the final two spots in the final hours, takes the race for most GARs and PRs—48.
The intense competition between RO and Calvin999 will continue into the finals. They're both eligible for the Newcomers Trophy, given for the first time in the Wikicup; whoever makes the most points will win it.
Good luck to the finalists; the judges are sure that the competition will be fierce!

Your GA nomination of FourFiveSeconds
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article FourFiveSeconds you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Wikipedian Penguin -- Wikipedian Penguin (talk) 16:41, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Tomica! I hope you're doing well. I've listed some points at Talk:FourFiveSeconds/GA1, so I hope you can respond soon. The obliged time frame is seven days, although you can request more time if needed. Good luck, The Wikipedian Penguin 19:31, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hey Tomica. I understand you're busy, but I still have to look at the article with regard to the other criteria (prose, MoS, comphrehensive, etc.), so we need to move quicker. You have not yet given me an update on the amendments you've made thus far. If it helps, perhaps consider asking someone to help you address issues. All the best, The Wikipedian Penguin 10:58, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to inform you that I have failed the GAN. There was no update on the progress and points remained unaddressed. With that said, if you feel my review was unfair by any stretch, let me know. The Wikipedian Penguin 14:29, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

Anti
Hi, I don't speak well English...
Did you heard this video? When she asked "When can we expect you for a new album?" she replayed "Very soon, that's my hope"... PureHero (talk) 20:37, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Selena Gomez Revival
Hi, please stop removing the meta critic score on Revival. You stated that the reason you removed it is because it's already in the summary, but the score still needs to be displayed. If you look at a page for any album, the metcritic score is always displayed. Smoore95GAGA (talk) 16:28, 18 October 2015 (UTC) Smoore95GAGA (talk) 16:28, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Smoore95GAGA: Not true! It should not be displayed twice because it is basically a repetition of a same content. Either use it in the review box and omit it from the text, or just use it in the body, it's that simple. And check featured articles such as Good Girl Gone Bad or xx and see if they use it. — Tom(T2ME) 17:12, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
First of all, Good Girl Gone Bad didn't have it because YOU made it that way. And I don't know who to it to xx, but they're wrong too. Are those the only examples you can list that don't have both? Because I have tons of examples that do have both. Smoore95GAGA (talk) 20:31, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- Stop adding the Metacritic score I already told you it's a repetition. I swear I am gonna take this to admin, with all due respect you don't have the experience me and @Dan56: have (the one who worked on xx). Keep up the good work and try not edit war on issues we already talked about. — Tom(T2ME) 20:38, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
You know what's really hysterical? Someone else added the meteoritic score on the page, and you don't seem to care about that, as you didn't revert it back. Yet when I add the score, I get attacked by you. It just shows that this has nothing to do with you caring about the meteoritic score being shown twice, you just don't seem to like me for whatever reason. And really, you're going to take this to admin? Well then you'll have to report Iknow23 as well, because they added the score as well. Either way, the fact that you got mad at me for trying to add it and not Iknow23 just shows that you're trying to pick on me, and I don't appreciate that. Smoore95GAGA (talk) 13:05, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
Archiving
Do you know how to archive URLs? — Calvin999 10:34, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, it's pretty easy. I use WebCite. I am pretty sure you can do it by yourself, but if you still can't I can help you. — Tom(T2ME) 16:04, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Not confirmed
What is not confirmed on Rihanna's discography? It is all written and confirmed in her own own discography page. Why are you reverting and deleting indication Studio albums as it is no deleting and all the main artists have this little indication?
- The Mad Hatter (talk)
- It's not confirmed that Anti is gonna be released in 2015! And also, Studio albums, Compilation Albums, Live Albums header is used when you are mentioning all of them as main albums, there is no need for that as all of the mentioned albums are obviously studio albums. — Tom(T2ME) 23:16, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
How about you start adding stuff for a change?
I've noticed that all you ever do is remove or revert stuff on Wikipedia. While that is helpful in some cases, it isn't constructive at all. Why don't you pull your weight and actually add something? It looks like you're just here to criticize others and remove their work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.12.249.194 (talk) 19:48, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- Removing sourced genre and adding unsourced ones is not helping. Also removing the flat list template and adding commas for the writers name is not the right way to do it. So I don't see your problem here. — Tom(T2ME) 22:55, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
I don't have a problem, just a suggestion that maybe you could contribute instead of removing all the time. It just makes you look like someone who constantly criticizes others. You're not doing anything wrong, it's just a suggestion. You can take it or leave it. 156.12.249.180 (talk) 01:56, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- Anything intended to bring Wikipedia to a more ideal state is a contribution. The value of Wikipedia is not judged by total word count. --Nat Gertler (talk) 03:18, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
- I agree with you Gertler, but if you see his edits you will see that that's not bringing a contribution to Wikipedia, but it's more a non-contribution and backing off the articles by adding its own genre and removing the flat list which is usually used for writers and producers in the song infobox. — Tom(T2ME) 10:02, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
Genie In a bottle
You removed the the contents I edited for Genie In a bottle citing validation of sources as a reason. Why is that? 90% of the singles cited in the best selling list use blogs or random articles as sources, yet they remain valid for that particular page. What would be a valid source for the global sales of a single..mind you that no internationally recognized sales tracking body exists. Its so ironic that articles from Buzzfeed - a pop culture blog - are allowed as "valid" sources for other artists but become problematic or questionable when Christina Aguilera is the artist in question. Hence, I will repeat the question, What would be a valid source for the global sales of a single??????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CJBXT720 (talk • contribs) 13:33, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- The problem is not Christina Aguilera, but the sources that you are using. If you are feeling that there are a lot of blogs in the List of best-selling singles I simply encourage you to remove them. However, "Genie in a Bottle" is a good article and it's not suppose the feature unreliable sources. I believe that Buzz Feed is not really useful source on Wikipedia IMO too. Every reliable source you can find is a valid usage for the song's WW sales. I hope I was at least a lil bit helpful. Happy editing! — Tom(T2ME) 13:42, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Putting up PNG's of the exact same artwork
You and that NahNah user aren't about to just go around songs pages and upload png versions of the artwork when it's already in the right size, just so you can try to claim credit for uploading them in the first place (weeks after someone else uploaded them). That's irritating to say the least. BlaccCrab (talk) 02:29, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- If I ain't gonna do that, learn to upload them in png, not in the ugly jpg format that ruins the covers. — Tom(T2ME) 10:08, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
Nah, sorry that you took 2 weeks longer to find the artwork .BlaccCrab (talk) 01:57, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Also, feel free to keep pointlessly undoing it, i'll just get an admin. BlaccCrab (talk) 02:06, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- Do you release that when you are reverting the artwork is still in png? Exactly, I am gonna call an admin to tell what kind of BS you are doing here. — Tom(T2ME) 09:10, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015: The results
WikiCup 2015 is now in the books! Congrats to our finalists and winners, and to everyone who took part in this year's competition.
This year's results were an exact replica of last year's competition. For the second year in a row, the 2015 WikiCup champion is Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points). All of his points were earned for an impressive 253 featured pictures and their associated bonus points (5060 and 1695, respectively). His entries constituted scans of currency from all over the world and scans of medallions awarded to participants of the U.S. Space program. Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came in second place; she earned by far the most bonus points (4082), for 4 featured articles, 15 good articles, and 147 DYKs, mostly about in her field of expertise, natural science. Cas Liber (submissions), a finalist every year since 2010, came in third, with 2379 points.
Our newcomer award, presented to the best-performing new competitor in the WikiCup, goes to Rationalobserver (submissions). Everyone should be very proud of the work they accomplished. We will announce our other award winners soon.

We warmly invite all of you to sign up for next year's competition. Discussions and polls concerning potential rules changes are also open, and all are welcome to participate. Hey there. Can you please check if everything is ok with the Charts section of This Summer's Gonna Hurt like a Motherfucker. I'm preparing to create an article of that song in my language, but i want to be sure if there's no missing or excessive charts. Thank you very much in advance! --46.130.32.237 (talk) 16:52, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- Done/Removed one chart. The rest of them are fine. Cheers! — Tom(T2ME) 16:55, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. Also i have two more questions; should we add 222 Records in the infobox (as the article of V says Interscope & 222? Which charts need to be mentioned in the Chart performance section of this article (because the section only mentions about Billboard's charts)? --46.130.145.195 (talk) 18:42, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
- Also some charts' links are not working/wrong. They are; South Koarea's chart, Slovakia's two charts, Czech R.'s two charts and Venezuela's three charts. Can you please change them. --46.130.32.170 (talk) 20:30, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
Would I mind that you do expanding on "Composition" section? 123.136.106.65 (talk) 16:25, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I am not interested in that artist or her work. Cheers! — Tom(T2ME) 16:26, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Hey. Can I be involved with this? I created the redirect about 5 months ago and would have liked to have participated in any creation of a list. — Calvin999 13:24, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't see who created the re-direct. Of course Calvin! I would love to collaborate with you, it's been a long time since we did a mutual project! :) — Tom(T2ME) 13:25, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
- Cool :) Have a look at List of songs recorded by Mariah Carey to see what I did about featured artists, which eliminates the need for a separate column especially when there are very few songs with featured artists such as in Murs' case. What do you think? — Calvin999 13:27, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
- Sure, we can do it that way. However, I am not really sure we should add a length field. It's kind of a trivia according to me. And yes, it's true, he doesn't have much collaborations. — Tom(T2ME) 13:30, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah that's fine. I only have for Mariah's because she has songs same 30 seconds in length to over 11 minutes in length. — Calvin999 13:42, 28 November 2015 (UTC)

- Ok, so basically the rest of the work is:
- Add the songs from Right Place Right Time (Special Edition); Never Been Better (both editions); the collaborations, there are like 3-4
- Write the lead
- Add pictures and write the alts
so, what would you like you to do, what should I do? — Tom(T2ME) 13:54, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
- I think it's easier to do the lead last. We can just do the table for the moment. — Calvin999 15:19, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
