Re: Guest reviewer!

Greetings Tito! My apologies are in order for this delayed reply. As you can see, I did indeed begin to review the Independence Day (India) article, but before I had a chance to finish reading through, I got called away on an unexpected family emergency. Sadly, I just learned that I've lost someone very dear to my heart :(. Though my wiki participation, availability, and concentration may be a bit disrupted over the next few days, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge your recent messages and thank you for your kind words and proposed ideas. Full detailed replies are in the making, but I wanted to let you know that there may be some delays and periods of silence before I'm able to fully address everything your messages entail. I will start with the completion of my review, and respond to the rest as soon as possible. Have yourself a great day Tito... I'll catch up with you soon. :)  -- WikHead (talk) 19:03, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

I requested a move in German Wikipedia here de:Diskussion:Subhash Chandra Bose. They are saying they are using transcription of Sanskrit. I have requested the same move in French Wikipedia too. They have asked me to go to central requested move page (there process is little bit different, you don't request in talk, there is a separate page). But, about German I am slightly confused still because it is proper noun and they have all required letters in alphabet. I'll try searching in German Google Books if anyone is using the requested spelling. Thanks a lot. Do you really have any plan, or is there any chance, of you becoming relatively inactive in wikipedia shortly?--Dwaipayan (talk) 07:06, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

I became inactive in first half of September I'll take another short break when I'll complete 25,000 edits. I have 24,400 edits now, So, I hope to take a short break in 3–4 days. You can see Vanischenu's talk page (read from here), there are some ongoing works listed there the wikibreak mat depend on that! --Tito Dutta (talk) 07:17, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Ok. Short breaks are good. In that case, try to wrap up the GA review of Tripura as well, if you find it ok.
However, that was not the reason I asked the question. I had something else in mind which can wait until you return from the break.--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:55, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

  • NEW!! In the week from Sunday 21 October to Saturday 27 October, we are holding a Project Blitz, in which we will copy edit articles tagged with {{copyedit}} belonging to selected project(s). For the first blitz, we'll start with WikiProject Olympics and WikiProject Albums and add more Projects to the blitz as we clear them. The blitz works much like our bimonthly drives, but a bit simpler. Everyone is welcome to take part, and barnstars will be awarded.
  • November 2012 Backlog elimination drive is a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to copy edit all articles tagged in 2011 and to complete all requests placed before the end of October. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits at least one article, and special awards will be given to the top five in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in 2011", and "Longest article". Your edit notice

I have no judgement on your edit notice, just impressions. I think it is perfectly fine to show this one in your own userspace. At first reading I found the notes lightheartedly but indeed for a new user they may be offsetting. Still not unfriendly or uninviting. The footnote on copying shows some disappointment, but remember that you are not responsible or other persons actions, and "stealing/copying" ideas is sort of basic in Wikipedia editing. All in all I see no reason to change it. The only reason to change it would be your own inspiration to do so. -DePiep (talk) 13:10, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

What do you think now?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:49, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

When you say the plot is totally different, keep in mind something like Bollywood Queen is included on {{Romeo and Juliet}}. It seems to me that these plots are thematically similar to the original. Why is Dev.D considered an adaptation in your eyes?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:56, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Devadasu, which is marketed in some markets under the title of Devdas was remade in Bengali as Paglu. As I understand it these movies all share the theme of Love vs. power and honor.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:22, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Do you think that the fact that it is difficult to find an English language citation that a Telugu movie dubbed in Malayalam was remade in Bengali means they are not thematically similar. Article space for these articles is not my turf. I think I'll leave it in the template. Do you contest that Paglu is a remake of Devadasu?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 02:00, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Yes man, she is Mrs. Chakraborty ( yogeetha bali ) Rajeshbieee (talk) 21:47, 20 October 2012 (UTC) Her spelling is mentioned as " Yogeeta Bali " in both wikipedia as well as imdb.com, so go head with ' Yogeeta Bali '. Admin?

Hi Titodutta, have you thought about standing for adminship? Your contributions are impressive, and I've certainly found your judgment to be sound in RMs. --BDD (talk) 18:01, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I have thought of it. I thought of not trying for adminship before end of 2013. Thanks for your kind opinion! What's about you? Are you an admin or planning to be one? --Tito Dutta (talk) 18:09, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
I'd like to be one, yes. I had been thinking of waiting until the start of 2013 until making an active attempt, but the more I see editors voicing concerns about an admin shortage, highlighted by no new admins being made last month, the more I think, "Hey, I can do this" and stepping up. But edit count is on the low side for an admin, so I'm probably better off waiting. --BDD (talk) 18:50, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
If they make changes in admin procedure (as in here), adminship is easy to give and easy to take away etc, it'll be neither very difficult nor very exciting to get adminship then, IMO. --Tito Dutta (talk) 18:55, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi,

I see that you have been editing her page. I am her sister and the changes you made are not true. News papers do not have the correct info. Please don't go by them. Shubha died in Ludhiana and not in Bangalore. Gita1602 (talk) 14:20, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. I condole the death of your (cousin) sister. In Wikipedia we mainly depend on sources. See WP:V and WP:RS. All the reliable newspaper articles are saying she died after prolonged kidney disease. So, that's why we wrote the information. But, don't get upset, you can do these things–
  • Search any reliable source which mentions other reason of Phutela's death. This search tool might help you Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  • Since you claim to be a close relative of the subject, contact the news medias who you think have covered her death incorrectly! Let us know if you have any question!

Signing

Your signing is affecting page layout. I'd say that is too much. -DePiep (talk) 21:40, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Greetings, Where? In every page or any p[articular page? Do you suggest to decrease shadow (from 0.9 to 0.7 or 0.5 etc) or completely change the signature?--Tito Dutta 02:34, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
For example Wikipedia:Vpt#.22Cite.22_link_is_not_appearing_in_edit_toolbar. It appears that it is enlarging the line height (interline whitespace), esp when used twice in two rows. Apart from this, more as a matter of graphic taste, I don't appreciate the color flowing into another line above or below. -DePiep (talk) 06:49, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
The top of of the shadow is causing a bigger line break than normal with the line above your shadow. I hadn't noticed it until it was brought up, so it is not a big problem, but one that should be fixed. Bgwhite (talk) 06:50, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
Greetings,
I can try to fix that, sample below (feel free to edit)–
Or I can try changing signature removing text shadow (it may take some time to prepare a new signature)
Tito Dutta 07:00, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Test of the first one. This is a Test. Test of the first one. This is a Test.

Test of the first one. This is a Test. Test of the first one. This is a Test.

There is just a slight increase in spacing in the first one. Still cut it down just a bit. The second is still has the line spacing. Bgwhite (talk) 07:17, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Just to show the effect in extremis (all 1em or 0em):

Test of the second one. This is a Test. Test of the second one. This is a Test.

Now I do not see extra whitespace (interline). The shadow colors clearly overlap other lines. That raises the question: what setting (CSS code) actually does the line heightening in the current signature? (I do FF on WinXP). -DePiep (talk) 08:32, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Greetings, I have restored my signature to default (well, almost, just a space between name and surname). Tito Dutta (talk) 00:58, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Is there any difference without the sign?···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 20:43, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Does the one on the left seem larger? Nopes, it is an optical illusion, Delboeuf illusion
Confused! I can't see any difference! Clarify! --Tito Dutta (talk) 20:46, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
I think it was just an illusion, as putting a new line, a colon or a bullet/number is different from having an automatic line break due to wrapping. I have invited both DePiep and BgWhite to the discussion. Hope that this is just an illusion; if in doubt, one may check using a scale, the striking passing through the text will make it easy to take measurements  :) ···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 21:04, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Optical illusion? Interesting! --Tito Dutta (talk) 21:16, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
Interestingly, the effect is gone on my screen too. I do not see it, nor can I measure a difference between test4 and test1 (below 4) line height. Also the first example, now in VPT archive 103, does not show the effect (any more). But optical illusion? Both me and Bgwhite saw it (noted here at 6:49 and 6:50), and Titodutta sort of went along (without stating explicitly he saw it). And really, today I do not see the effect, let alone I would write about it. So something else was there. More likely time solved the issue. Looks like the browser has caught the right interpretation of the CSS code. I'm not familiar with backgrounds, but could it be some wikipedia code change (done), or a cache thing?
And there is another reason Tittodutta can use the shadowed signature: a signature does not appear in content space (like articles). It only is at talk and wikipedia pages and so. These pages do not have to be styled correctly, there "anything goes". So with or without the effect gone away, TD can reinstate and use that sign as he likes. (First please check the second point I made in my 6:50 post here...). -DePiep (talk) 10:03, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

No color? I can see it. Can you see that I have set font color="green" etc. inside the edit mode. (Actually, I did it for span, but it didn't show up. Hence I put font color). BTW, Can you see the green color in my signature?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Vanischenu (talkcontribs) 21:49, 24 October 2012 (I forgot to sign here!···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 22:30, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
No, no colour! --Tito Dutta (talk) 21:52, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Vanischenu, which new problem are you talking about? (promise: my last contribution in this this way) -DePiep (talk) 21:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
I am replacing it by <span style="color:example;"> Also replaced the striking of nbsp; by "—".
Can you see a difference between the spacing between green&blue and that between blue&red Thank you.
The new problem is Tito cannot see <font color="blue">. I can see both span style="color:example;" and font color="example"···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 22:25, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I can see colours now! --Tito Dutta (talk) 22:31, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Can you see the difference between lengths. Using Chrome, click ctrl++ several times and get a ruler to measure the difference between the spacing between green&blue and that between blue&red. (the former is larger)···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 22:44, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Where shall I get a ruler at 4:18 AM in morning? But, I can not see any significant difference between lengths even after zooming in! --Tito Dutta (talk) 22:50, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
I have got a set square with me! I measured to found the above.
I am sorry that I disturbed both you and DePiep with this. But please don't say that this discussion was completely wasteful. Look, I have got a <span>ish signature: ···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 23:08, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Oh, excellent, though I am confused what is Spanish signature! --Tito Dutta (talk) 23:12, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

All of the <font> markups which were present in my signature were replaced by corresponding <span> markups. In my browser, both works alike. So, IMO, there is no difference from my computer's point of view.
as a matter of graphic taste, I don't appreciate the color flowing into another line above or below. ; Man! That was no any color flowing out, that represents the flag of one of the countries where it is 5:05 AM now!!! When I saw Tito's signature for the first time, I thought it was really a brilliant idea as I was curious to know how he prepared a horizontal tricolor. Also the blue colored name is in place of the Ashoka Chakra. ···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 23:34, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

AMRI Hospital Tragedy, Kolkota

You proposed to start new article -AMRI Fire tragedy, and I feel it is urgently to be created, in view of its importance. It is the biggest hospital tragedy in India. Please start the article. Hi Tito. I notice you've been helping out Soni Ruchi with an AFC here - my adoptee Shrikanthv has gone and forked the article into mainspace at Ānanda (Hindu philosophy), so it's now live. I've taken a crack at copyediting it, but it still needs a ton of work; if you'd like to look it over (check the text on the talkpage, too), be my guest - definitely more your area of expertise than mine! Hallo Titodutta it seems that Blofeld has done a great job on Sarkar's article.. Hope you are happy like me. It seems a very professional starting point!--Cornelius383 (talk) 17:56, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I can not measure your happiness. And this is the ending point, not starting point. You have been editing for a long time now. Everytime you edit I have to manually check to understand the changes you have made, so, please write edit summaries at least when you are editing in main space. See WP:FIES). --Tito Dutta (talk) 18:24, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Sorry Titodutta but you are wrong. "You have been editing for a long time now": please check what I've edited on Sarkar and on Subash articles you will find that it's very few. My strong effort was ONLY on the Ananda Marga article.. If something is wrong on this article this is certainly possible 'couse english is not my mothertongue and my experience on WP in not as exstensive like yours. If you have a better experience on WP please use it for helping those who have less experience than you on a cooperative basis using a more appropriate communicative style, without creating unnecessary disputes 'cause this is the best way to get away from here the few remaining volunteers. My time is short and I cannot devote to WP all the time that you spend: this is the only reason why somethimes I cannot work on articles like you can do. Now I friendly tell you: please try to create on the Ananda Marga article all the changes you like (I will not revert it). If necessary we will discuss on the talk page. I'm sorry if I have dwelt a little and thanks for your understanding.--Cornelius383 (talk) 19:22, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
By editing for a long time, I meant you are editing in a long time in Wikipedia. Your contribution page shows you have been editing since August 2011. If I count months it is more than 1 year. Your edit counter shows you have 1000 edits. In P.R.Sarkar article you have 130+ edits. Adding edit summary is a common and basic thing. But without concentrating on WP:FIES you are arguing here!
I had told you a long back that Wikipedia suggests not to add entries in See Also which are already linked in article body. Okay, more specifically here is the link. And your reply was "thanks"! And see this edit, here again you added duplicate entries article's see also and flooded external links. I can see someone reverted those later!
About your comments on what I do, how and when I edit Wikipedia, see this: User:Titodutta/Essays/Watch_your_words,_please!#Don.27t_predict_about_other_editors! --Tito Dutta (talk) 19:38, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I request you write edit summary. and please see WP:FIES. --Tito Dutta (talk) 19:40, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I ask you to please check the changes that I made in Sarkar's and Bose's articles (not the number of editings). Compare the changes made from my first entry on those articles with the last one. Obviously I didn't spoke anything on what you do, but only about your communicative style on the lates comunications. I hope that from now on will be better and I wait to see your changes on the Ananda Marga article. Friendly--Cornelius383 (talk) 20:00, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) (multiple times) For the edit summary: yes frequently I forget to write it, you're right and I apologize but it was not something intended. I will try my best in the future!--Cornelius383 (talk) 20:05, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
It was not intended? In these edits too you have not written edit summary! You are apologizing for not writing edit summary and making the same mistake in the same edit? --Tito Dutta (talk) 20:13, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Yes..
You want to say that I've to write edit summaries for the talk pages too?--Cornelius383 (talk) 20:18, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
That shows you have not read WP:FIES too, the thing I have been asking you to read for a long time now. It is clearly written in bold It is considered good practice to provide a summary for every edit- every edit means every edit! --Tito Dutta (talk) 20:22, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I really do not know .. I've read it now on the help pages!--Cornelius383 (talk) 20:28, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Me too! Reading a book, writing an email, trying to contact Dr. Blofeld who has suddenly retired etc. Well see here Special:Contributions/Titodutta, and read the edit summaries, when you read it you immediately understand what I have done in that edit (sometimes I have kept it short like "reply" or "r" that means IU have replied the message.
See article space edit summaries, last edit in Sarkar's article: edit summary: minor fmt BABA→Baba such edit summaries help you to understand things quickly without opening the page and manually checking it! --Tito Dutta (talk) 20:45, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the information I never controlled "My preferences" box. Now I chek the Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. I also controlled the function od the edit summary.. Yes it's very helpful. I will try to use it for every edit.--Cornelius383 (talk) 20:54, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
TIto I'm really surpraised for the expertise of Dr. Blofeld.. In a few hours he have done such a big work!--Cornelius383 (talk) 21:05, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
You don't need to write long edit summaries, just "reply" or "r" or in article something like "added 1 image", "added 1 citation" these mean a lot.
About Dr. Blofeld, ya, done a great job. He did a similar thing in Varanasi article where he deleted almost everything in the article to completely rewrite it. Some people did not like that (and actually there were some misunderstanding)! --Tito Dutta (talk) 21:16, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Usually I also don't like it.. But in this case I'm really surprised and I accept it. in special cases when a person has great capabilities we have to accept the speed of a rapid change rather than wait for the long times of negotiation .. but they are really rare cases. With many risks, particularly on the comunicative side.--Cornelius383 (talk) 21:28, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
WP:GOCE also does similar work where I asked to visit. Now at least one more article remains Ananda Marga. I am going offline now! --Tito Dutta (talk) 21:33, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Tito I appreciate your help. As I sad before please thake a look at the entire A. M. article and try your best. I worked very much in it but I don't have you experience on WP and I think that I will appreciate your changes. Of course if I have some doubts I will tell you.--Cornelius383 (talk) 21:41, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

Anatman

I think my captioned article presently in my sand box is ready to be moved to main space. Kindly review. Wiki search of Anatman redirects to Anatta. Can you remove the redirect or should the article be titled Anatman (Advaita view)? Regards.Soni Ruchi (talk) 02:24, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Ritwik Ghatak

Hello, You wrote that you are unsure what edits I made to the Ritwik Ghatak page. 1. I inserted a new thred "Family" 2. I moved some family information from "Creative Career" to "Family". 3. I added a link to an article by Surama Ghatak on TOI. Peace. Faustus 04:49, 7 November 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dwija Prasad De (talkcontribs)

Creating additional sandboxes

Hi Tito... I'm following up on your offer. How do I create additional sandboxes in my userspace. When working on multiple projects at the same, it would be very helpful to have more than one sandbox. I have read that this can be done. I've seen a gadget or a script that supposedly does something like that. But I haven't succeeded in making it happen. In short, I've done multiple searches, read a few sections or articles, but I remain stumped. --Abhidevananda (talk) 05:04, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

You can create a page with any name in your userspace.
1) In the address bar of your browser where it says "...wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Abhidevananda"
2) Type the name of page your want to create after your name in the address bar. Make sure to add the slash first. Example: "...wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Abhidevananda/sandbox2" or "...wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Abhidevananda/TitoDuttaIsWonderful"
3) You will be taken to a page that says it does not exist. Either hit "create" button by Wikipedia's search or click on "Start the User:Abhidevananda/TitoDuttaIsWonderful"
4) You are done. Bgwhite (talk) 05:41, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Trout

Whack!
You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something silly.

You have been whacked for your bad talk page habits. Bgwhite (talk) 05:54, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Tito Dutta Ji, I have created the page titled Ananda (Vedanta) after revising my draft per your suggestions. Have I acted rightly?Soni Ruchi (talk) 15:48, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

Tito Dutta Ji, I have added one more on-line citation but I have not found more that I could use. You will also find Shrikanthv (talk)'s suugestion to merge this article, to that I have already replied. Also, kindly peruse what he has written to me on his talk page. What should I do? I am once again in a bad fix. There is his mentor awarding to me a Barn Star and here is his protege. Don't you agree I ought not to have returned having announced my retirement? I think I should stay retired. I shall now stay retied because I do not wish to participate in arguements/debates in Wiki which actually will not have any impact on my life. You have been very very helpful and a dear comrade. I have no words to thank you regardless of what happens to my edits etc. Regards.Soni Ruchi (talk) 08:17, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
