Queries
The following is a list of the questions asked by me, but you did not answer:
- On 13 August 2012 you said - "Ore baba, tui to eke bare talkback er bonya boiye dichchis! --Tito Dutta ✉ 14:43, 13 August 2012 (UTC)" on this
I replied with: "Very funny..by the way ami bonya mane jaanina, aar secondly I have new messages for you at my talk page! Tamravidhir(২০১২) 14:45, 13 August 2012 (UTC)"
- So what does a bonya mean?
- On the same day I promoted Wikilove with a cup of coffee (here)
You said: "Hughes ki school pathyo? --Tito Dutta ✉ 15:02, 13 August 2012 (UTC)"
I asked: "What is hughes? Please reply in my talk page. --Tamravidhir(২০১২) 10:58, 14 August 2012 (UTC)"
- And after you adopted me I put forth some terms and conditions. You asked : "We have been talking for a long time! Have you faced these issues? Also, I want you enrol you to WP:CVU, if it is okay with you, I can goo ahead and enrol you there! --Tito Dutta ✉ 12:00, 16 August 2012 (UTC)"
I clarified saying: "I hope and have faith that you will not do anything which may harm me. You are to do it if it is beneficial me. Secondly, whenever adding me, notify me and enlighten me about it. Tamravidhir(২০১২) 12:08, 16 August 2012 (UTC)"
- But you did not show up after this.
- Please reply to these at my talk page. Thank you! --Tamravidhir(২০১২) 14:56, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh...by the way the poet was William Earnest Henley. And secondly why was my adoption discontinued? Tamravidhir(২০১২) 15:47, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- For different reasons I don't think I'll able to continue it! --Tito Dutta ✉ 16:04, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Tulian Lake article is up
Hi Tito, the Tulian lake article is now on wiki. Another AfC that I initiated. I have also included it in the category Hydrology of Jammu and Kashmir and should now appear across a range of articles. Can you guide me through the process of upgrading this article to [{WP:GA]] status. If the article is brief and has limited content, can it still be raised to GA status. -Ambar (talk) 18:56, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Put the template Hydrography of Jammu and Kashmir below reference section.
- Lake or lake? fix it?
- Pahalgam District– why D cap?
- Header Access– what is access?
Let me know when you have done these (or if you have any question)! The article is not GA ready, in my opinion! --Tito Dutta ✉ 04:17, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- How do I fix lake --> Lake in the name of the article. Do I have to create a new article and migrate this one to the new article ?? Let me know so that I can do it myself and understand how its done. Will fix the other issues. Thanks. -Ambar (talk) 08:45, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- By Access, I meant accessibility to the place. -Ambar (talk) 08:57, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the changes - I was just in the middle of adding the details, but got interrupted, as often happens, which is why I prefer to do things bit by bit. This isn't a specialist subject area for me - I wrote the article because a forest bug flew in last night and when I looked at the List of shield bug species of Great Britain I found the juniper shield bug article was missing and thought I'd "quickly" knock something up. So it's probably not appropriate for me to be adding categories. Is there a "please add categories" tag?Opbeith (talk) 09:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

under the heading Etymology it is mentioned that the king Bharata was a mythological figure. this is totally false and baseless statement. Emperor Bharata was in fact the ruler who unified this nation and introduced the concept of democracy in this region. apparently history books are full with this and a number of other facts about the Emperor Bharata. Why it is not quoted in wikipedia is a mystery to me. I suppose ignorance is bliss, and is the slogans for people like you who are entrusted with the task of editing the comments. It is shameful and utterly disgracefulSorpatal (talk) 17:15, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

NML Cygni; Tragedy?
Sir, I think we are missing the link to the claim that it is the largest star known and it is 1,650 times the Sun's diameter. The two given links are abstracts, so if you have subscription please verify it. Also, searching for NML Cyg largest star gives a disappointing result. We have crossed 1500 and reached 1502, and I was just trying to clean and verify them, just to realize that it is missing a ref. - Sorry, I meant "Gooroodas" seems ridiculous, today at least, but evidently "Gooroodas" wasn't ridiculous in 1890. I think you should just withdraw the move and move where you see fit. The move proposals I've seen from you are all very sensible, and no indication at all that there's anything controversial here. In any case there are redirects and all 3 spellings are in lede. Did you notice that (amazingly!) the source I added which showed the same bio occuring 3 times under 3 spellings in one 1960s Delhi encyclopedia :) hahah In ictu oculi (talk) 05:49, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Re:Rare honour for Kolkata
Yeah it is very fortunate. They deserve much respect, IMHO, we are not giving enough. So will you be there? Instead of considering great people like them, we are loving and respecting those people who hurt the feelings of a community with no mercy and just for their own selfish profit. They claim as if they are in good touch with metaphysics—we give more value to opinions, and not to the truth.···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 17:47, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
response to your message on Paoli-Dam/chhatrak-page vandalism
Hi; this is on the Paoli Dam talk page also.
to tito: not to worry; I for one will follow your advice and let it be. After all, *any* page may have much more ridiculous vandals after it; but our strength is: vandals - trolls is probably more appropriate to desrcibe their behaviour - dont have staying power. You're right, let's play it cool. [Fact of life: some males are so deficient in s grey matter that they compensate by thinking with their . um.. members/genitalia - the anglo saxon word 'cock' is/should be perfectly respectable as Eric Partidge argued; so let me rephrase it: they compensate by thinking with their cocks. And some females have internalised patriarchy so much that they think with their - let's say - virtual cocks. So that's what is happening here; I am a brit so if these people were in britain I could pull strings and get justified abso decrees (anti-social behaviour order; court decree, which puts them under police watch and at the minimum a talking-to by the judge etc) - but: Welcome to the real-virtual-combo world! :-) ] Manojpandeyanarchocommunist (talk) 21:55, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

my response: I apologise. Sorry Tito Dutta, I misunderstood. Not that I am usually reading-challenged; but I was in a very stressed state when I was reading your advice/request (in real life i am involved with pro - julian assange organising activities also; that is much more serious - he is in *real* danger - see recent NYT op-ed article by Oliver stone and Micheal Moore).
This is on the Paoli Dam talk page also. [you can look at the article; it has been decently reverted by others etc and it is okay now.] I'll stay off this for some days. Manojpandeyanarchocommunist (talk) 20:09, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
re your explanation re stand taken on the article on Ms Paoli Dam page: point well made and taken!
Ok, you people are pros on wikipedia; that was very well thought out. Good work!
I'll leave this in you ppls hands; Paoli is very media-savvy and even what I see [and she sees; dont ask me how I know; but I am not her[1].] as blatant male chauvinism; she knows how to *use* the media! [2].
So this is basically a *relatively trivial* issue. Maybe *I* am being male chauvanistic (It is a moot point [moot in the Brit sense! ie important debatable point!] whether chivalry is a form of male chauvinism) trying to be overprotective of Paoli.
Now I'll return me return to real life on an issue of the sort where *I* am a pro;/ - organising. Nowhere near the Tariq Ali level, but still - relatively a pro... the assange case :-)
[1] Proof that I am not Ms Paoli Dam masquerading as a male: You won't see Paoli in london next month organising pro-Assagnge protests or preventing the cops from trying to enter the ecuadorian embassy where he is - the paparazzi would surely pick her up; while I am a behind-the-scences person, not photo-worthy except by the special branch - in both w bengal and england - who've never bothered me - collecting dossiers is their routine work.
[2][Including - excuse me - wikipedia - which is fairly middlebrow as of now - ok, actually Paoli said that in private conversation, but I tend to agree. I mean get real, why do you thing no famous activist:Tariq Ali, Noam Chomsky, late Edward Said, the cockburns including the inimitable alexander cockburn who passed away recently, amy goodman, ... ... or choose conservatives as long as they are not neocon frauds - or Richard Dawkins, or Paul Krugman, or any decently well-known physicist - why have none of them every been registereds *users* of wikipedia? Because it is not good enough yet! Remember, people who wrote for brittanica in its golden days [nowadays itis american trash] included absolutely top-level names! Whereas top names are very much on say zcommmunications.org; counterpunch; ...]
Middlebrow: Virginia Woolf coined the term in her eponymous short essay: she used in a very derogatory way. *We* dont use it quite so dorogatorily as Woolf did; we just use it in a mildly dismissive sense.
cheers. no offence meant; just being frank. You are doing very good voluntary work for a media [as it stands now: disguised as an encyclopedia; and with *some* features of one] whose historic value is dubious. Well, to each human there poison - for you, wikipedia; for me, working for anarchist-marxist unity, progressive rock music, johnny walker whiskies [excellent and inexpensive scotches - I mean there red label is not bad and it is dirt cheap! I drink Royal Salute and stuff only on others' money ;/], some kerala/california grass to get stoned, cheap tobacco and cigarette paper to make my own 150 cigarettes a day!

- No, not the paper edition. Internet edition. The Patrika on Saturdays remains my source of cinema-related news besides the BollywoodHunguma website. - Well, I used to like Pathik Guha before the Internet-era. After internet became available and facts verifiable at source, somehow the Bengali writings by Pathik Guha seemed diluted. However, no one can deny that due to his writings the tough science news can easily reach the mass.
- I have not read the Knowhow in The Telegraph in a while. The writings there were more professional. Anyway, if I come across Pathik Guha pieces in Anandabazar, I will alert you!--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:40, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

DYK for NML Cygni
On 30 August 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article NML Cygni, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the red supergiant NML Cygni is the largest star currently known, at about 1,650 times the Sun's diameter? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/NML Cygni. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

The Tea Leaf - Issue Six
Hi! Welcome to the sixth edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!
- Teahouse serves over 700 new editors in six months on Wikipedia! Since February 27, 741 new editors have participated at the Teahouse. The Q&A board and the guest intro pages are more active than ever.
- Automatic invites are doing the trick: 50% more new editors visiting each week. Ever since HostBot's automated invite trial phase began we've seen a boost in new editor participation. Automating a baseline set of invitations also allows Teahouse hosts to focus on serving hot cups of help to guests, instead of spending countless hours inviting.
- Guests to the Teahouse continue to edit more & interact more with other community members than non-Teahouse guests according to six month metrics. Teahouse guests make more than twice the article edits and edit more talk pages than other new editors.
- New host process implemented which encourages anyone to get started as a Teahouse host in a few easy steps. Stop by the hosts page and become a Teahouse host today!
- Host lounge renovations nearing completion. Working closely with Teahouse hosts, we've made some major renovations to the Teahouse Host Lounge - the main hangout and resource space for hosts. Learn more about the improvements here.
As always, thanks for supporting the Teahouse project! Stop by and visit us today!
