Deletion of speedy delete tag at Raptor FEC codes
[edit]Please don't do what you just did at Raptor FEC codes. I already marked the article for speedy deletion, so you better leave this tag intact and wait until the article gets deleted. Nageh (talk) 21:58, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

DASH Industry Forum COI
[edit]
Hello, The mike luby. You may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest including WP:NOPAY. All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People with a close connection to a subject need to be aware of Wikipedia's policies;
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view. You may also wish to avoid giving the impression that your account is to be used for promotional purposes. Regardless, doing so does not exempt you from compliance with Wikipedias policies.--Hu12 (talk) 01:22, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
DASH Industry Forum COI reply
[edit]The purpose of the post was not to promote or express a point of view, the point was to gather feedback on an evolving open Internet streaming standard, standardized in MPEG, called MPEG DASH. The feedback requested is for deployment guidelines, that are useful to everyone, not just the members of the DASH Industry Forum (which is a non-profit, and yes I'm an unpaid volunteer in the DASH IF). The DASH deployment guidelines, informally called DASH264 or DASHAVC264, are out for public review and feedback until March 15, 2013, and the feedback requested from everyone is technical input on the aspects of MPEG DASH that they would consider relevant for deploying in their Internet streaming solution. It is unfortunate if Wikipedia doesn't see that there is benefit to Internet streaming in general to let people know through Wikipedia that their valuable feedback on these deployment guidelines is being sought, and that there is only a restricted window of time when this feedback is relevant. Also, for your information, DASH IF is endorsed by MPEG (as formally expressed in a liaison from MPEG to the DASH IF) to execute these activities for the Internet community at large. Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, The mike luby. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 22:35, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
I have no conflict of interest in editing this article -- I have no products that sell into this market, but I do have a general interest in this market flourishing (as with many markets). I did not appreciate the biased tone of the background section and tried to make it more balanced. Although you allowed a couple of my changes to make it more balanced, you still left some obviously biased statements that make the article less credible (the background was clearly written by someone who does have a personal or business agenda against cloud computing). I will make a couple of more changes and I hope they "stick". The mike luby (talk) 23:29, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- You've been writing about yourself and linking your company website on multiple articles, that is clearly a COI. If you're here to contribute to an encyclopedia, please find some stuff that is entirely unrelated to yourself or your business interests. Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red would be a great place to start. MrOllie (talk) 23:32, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
