A tag has been placed on Timothy Christian School (Barrie) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. August 2010

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Timothy Christian School (Barrie), a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Mo ainm~Talk 16:48, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with this edit to Timothy Christian School (Barrie). Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. Donald Duck (talk) 16:56, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I declined the speedy deletion; you did add enough information to satisfy the content requirements. BUT, you still need to show why the school is notable under our policies, and you're going to need reliable sources to do it. I should also note that, in many cases, Junior High level schools and below are not generally considered notable - so it's possible that this school would be merged over into the article for its district, if applicable. Please review our policies and expand the article to meet them. Thanks. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 17:03, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Timothy Christian School (Barrie), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Timothy Christian School (Barrie). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Mo ainm~Talk 17:07, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Timothy Christian School (Barrie), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. (talk) 17:36, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I have deleted the article. You asked on its talk page:

I would like to know why this page is being deleted? I have cited my sources and all the information is in order and accurate. I created article so people thinking about going to this school or people why want information on it can have it. Wikipedia is supposed to be an online encyclopedia, so that people always have information at their finger tips and people can easily become more educated. If there is something that you need me to do to make this page right to be able to stay on Wikipedia please let me know so I can fix it? The Spock (talk) 20:03, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, of information about things that are considered important in the world. Our basic criterion is that they must have been written about by references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. The question of whether this school meets our criteria was discussed in August 2010 at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Timothy Christian School (Barrie),and the consensus was that it was not suitable for a separate article (As it says there, our almost invariant practice is that high schools, but not elementary or middle schools, are likely to be notable.) The references you gave document thatthe school exist, but do not amount to substantial independent sources. However, as the discussion indicates, we usually do mention elementary or middle schools under the name of the town, and I have accordingly added a sentence to the Barrie article, and made a cross reference under the school name.

I do not in the least want to discourage you, but to urge you to help us by improving our other articles on related topics, including your town--are there other independent schools in the area, for example? .  DGG ( talk ) 23:48, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
