what is the meaning of Copyright violation in simple terms106.192.169.197 (talk) 09:23, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- It mean that you have just done a copy-paste from a copyrighted source, which is not allowed here..-The Herald • the joy of the LORDmy strength 09:29, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
Possible spin-off of The Taj
In reading back through the last FA review, there was a suggestion to limit the intricacies of construction and maybe create a new article that focuses on the architecture. I'm thinking we have enough to make a stub, or even a starter class. What do you think? Atsme☯Consult 00:00, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
- True indeed...Architectural features of Taj Mahal...-The Herald • the joy of the LORDmy strength 02:12, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
Taj
You weren't kidding when you said it was mongo! I will try to do a section at a time as I find time. Overall it's a great article and definitely a FA candidate. Hopefully when we get through copy-editing, there won't be much left to do when the reviews get underway. First things that need work:
- The entire reference list must be uniform. IOW, the date formats all the same, author formatting the same, etc.
- (Re)Move the references (citations) in the lead unless you think the passage will be challenged. The citations belong in the body of the article, so move them to the relative sections and make sure the first citation in the body is fully formatted and not just <ref name=XYZ/>. ✅
- I think the images need to be arranged better for an orderly appearance. I'm thinking Gallery. ✅
- If you see any redundancy or trivial mention it needs to go. Reviewers like a tight ship. Atsme☯Consult 18:56, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Great and thanks for that. Keep up the good work and I'm with you. -The Herald the joy of the LORDmy strength 02:18, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- TH, I've been going over each paragraph in each section little by little as time permits. It's going to take me a while to do it all. I like to walk away from it, and come back with fresh eyes so don't think I've given up on you. Atsme☯Consult 19:39, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

Recent changes
- You can now make charts and maps on your wiki with the new "graph" tool. If you have an old browser, you will see images instead. It uses a tool called Vega; you can learn how to use it and write help pages for your wiki. You can use the Vega edit tool to make charts and copy the code to your wiki. Charts and maps use complex code and you should put them into templates. In the future, you will be able to create charts with VisualEditor. [1] [2] [3]
- You can apply for technical jobs to develop tools for the community. [4]
- The logos of all wikis are now in a new place. It will make pages load faster. You can still ask to change the logo. You can also use local CSS for brief changes. [5] [6]
Problems
- There was a problem that caused slow editing. [7]
- Pages were sometimes removed from your watchlist in VisualEditor. This problem is now fixed. [8]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki has been on test wikis and MediaWiki.org since May 6. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from May 12. It will be on all Wikipedias from May 13 (calendar).
- You can now use data from Wikidata on more pages. The page doesn't need to be linked to the Wikidata item. It works on a few wikis and more wikis will be added soon. [9] [10]
- You should get fewer errors when you add files to Commons. [11]
- When you use an external link to link to a wiki page, VisualEditor now converts it to a wiki link. [12]
- When you add a link in VisualEditor, you see pages that match what you type. It is now easier to see where they match. [13]

- Crediting the writers of the original passage (I assume that it's coming from another Wikipedia article) is properly done simply by noting what article you're cutting and pasting from in your Edit Summary. That way, someone tracing back the source of information can find the right page to go to and its full editing history. WikiCup 2015 May newsletter
The second round one has all wrapped up, and round three has now begun! Congratulations to the 34 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our second round. Leading the way overall was Cas Liber (submissions) in Group B with a total of 777 points for a variety of contributions including Good Articles on Corona Borealis and Microscopium - both of which received the maximum bonus.
Special credit must be given to a number of high importance articles improved during the second round.
- Coemgenus (submissions) was one of several users who worked on improving Ulysses S. Grant. Remember, you do not need to work on an article on your own - as long as each person has completed significant work on the article during 2015, multiple competitors can claim the same article.
- Cwmhiraeth (submissions) took Dragonfly to Good Article for a 3x bonus - and if that wasn't enough, they also took Damselfly there as well for a 2x bonus.
- LeftAire (submissions) worked up Alexander Hamilton to Good Article for the maximum bonus. Hamilton was one of the founding fathers of the United States and is a level 4 vital article.
The points varied across groups, with the lowest score required to gain automatic qualification was 68 in Group A - meanwhile the second place score in Group H was 404, which would have been high enough to win all but one of the other Groups! As well as the top two of each group automatically going through to the third round, a minimum score of 55 was required for a wildcard competitor to go through. We had a three-way tie at 55 points and all three have qualified for the next round, in the spirit of fairness. The third round ends on June 28, with the top two in each group progressing automatically while the remaining 16 highest scorers across all four groups go through as wildcards. Good luck to all competitors for the third round! Figureskatingfan (talk · contribs · email), Miyagawa (talk · contribs · email) and Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email) 16:48, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Regarding the close of Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Advocacy ducks
While I appreciate the MfD being closed, you are Atsme's mentor. As this would make you involved even if you were an admin, it was inappropriate for you to close this MfD. Please revert your close. Thanks! Ca2james (talk) 13:44, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks and I was expecting something like this when I closed it. To begin with my justification,
- Atsme is a WikiAdult or WikiTeen and need no more mentorship or adoption.
- I never officially/unofficially agreed to her that I'll be mentoring her. She's one of the many newbies whom I help to begin the editing ways in Wikipedia. We both partnered for some editing and I summon her for copyediting. How on earth that have to do to this essay and closure?
- Per WP:CLOSECHALLENGE, there is no justification to my involvement in the discussion as I have never even edited the essay or have even came anywhere near to it.
- The clear cut consensus made me to go for a close.
These are my justifications and if any more needed, you can report at ANI. Thanks..-The Herald (Benison) • the joy of the LORDmy strength 14:04, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
- 62.5% is not generally "clear cut consensus" (see WP:SNOW for that definition). This is especially true when the last few comments were going the other way. It's probably best to leave the discussion open and wait for an administrator close especially considering that you might be conflicted since you have a close relationship with the main author. Otherwise, I think this looks like collusion even if that's not your intent. I would strongly suggest self-reverting. Taking this to AN/I would be an unfortunate escalation. jps (talk) 14:33, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
- Call me stubborn but I am stuck on what I have done. I don't find any reason to revert it. Just by having some relationship or acquaintance with an editor can entirely bar you from closing a debate is a stupid idea IMO. I have a pretty big network of acquainted guys here. Does it mean I should stay away from all their discussions. Thanks for helping out but I am sorry. Unfortunate escalation is better that stupid notions. -The Herald (Benison) • the joy of the LORDmy strength 14:41, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
- I was a little disappointed in the close but didn't think it was worth bothering about. Coming here and seeing your combative response to good-faith objections has convinced me otherwise. Since this relates to a topic area under discretionary sanctions, WP:AE may be the appropriate venue rather than AN/I. Short Brigade Harvester Boris (talk) 16:14, 23 May 2015 (UTC)

Your ITN Submissions for the WikiCup
Hi there,
I'm afraid I have some bad news - I'm going to have to remove all of your articles submitted in the ITN section for this round of the WikiCup. I think you may have misinterpreted the rules, as it is the only way I can account for this discrepancy. I've found several where you did not conduct any edits to the articles at all, and having gone back and checked your older submissions from previous rounds, this was happened then as well; just it was missed by the judges until now. I'm hoping that you've misunderstood the rules, and you've been claiming points for those which you've nominated. To clarify, as with any other article, you need to have conducted significant work on the article in order to claim points. There is one article which you did do work on this round (Mohamed Morsi), but it isn't a significant enough volume to be counted. Miyagawa (talk) 18:38, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- Jesus! I was on the wrong scent. Either way, thanks to report the err. Then I fear that I might not have advanced this far. Anyway, thanks. It was my mistake. Still, I'll continue to go in ITN, as I feel its a very good part of Wikipedia. Thanks again. -The Herald (Benison) • the joy of the LORDmy strength 02:57, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Miyagawa: The Mexican shootout was my article. It was me who created it. So, can I claim points for that? -The Herald (Benison) • the joy of the LORDmy strength 03:05, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- I've double checked, and from the edit checker tool it appears that your most recent edit on it resulted in this article - which doesn't meet the significant work requirement. Miyagawa (talk) 22:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
