Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I had to delete the article NES High School and Jr.college because it was copied from their web site, and was in addition so promotional that it would have been deleted even if not a copy.

A Wikipedia article needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release--don't praise the organization or person, say what they do. Don't include material that would better belong in an advertisement or a web page, such as its fine goals and lofty ambitions, or a detailed list of all school offices and facilities and procedures. It is critically important to remember not to copy from a web site, even your own -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you own the copyright and are willing to give us permission according to WP:DCM (permission that irrevocably gives everyone in the world the right to copy, reuse, and modify the material) , the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable, as was the case here. (Thus, there is generally no purpose in giving permission; it is better to rewrite.)

Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia. Do not include material that would be of interest only to those associated with the subject such as the current students, or to prospective students --that sort of content is considered promotional.

First add some of the basic facts to the existing article, Include references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. After you have done it, consider what the correct title should be, and request a move if appropriate.

I also deleted Pawar Public School (PPS),Bhandup for the same reason If you recreate it, do it properly. (and the title should be Pawar Public School,Bhandup without the abbreviation. I am placing the necessary formal warnings below, about both the promotionalism and the copyvio DGG ( talk ) 20:30, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Pawar Public School (PPS),Bhandup requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here.  —Waldhorn (talk) 04:53, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nominations

[edit]

The speedy deletion process has very specific criteria when articles/redirects are eligible for speedy deletion. Before nominating any more pages for speedy deletion please read up on the criteria. You can find them at WP:CSD. If an article does not fit into those narrow criteria it will not be speedily deleted. If it does not fall into those criteria and you belive it should be deleted you have two options, WP:Prod or WP:AFD. If you have any questions, ask them here, I will watch this page. GB fan 14:50, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see that have have not followed GB fan's advice to familiarise yourself with the valid criteria for speedy deletion listed at WP:CSD. Please do so now before nominating any more articles for speedy deletion. Phil Bridger (talk) 12:15, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Titles

[edit]

You have created a number of articles with badly-formed titles. Please check your contribs. history to see where they are. Specifically, I have moved Erandwane,Pune to User:Tapan joshi/sandbox because it is not ready yet and it is a disastrous idea to work on drafts in mainspace. Note that when it is ready, the title should be simply Erandwane. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:42, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Ducknish. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, pune, with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, I restored the removed content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Ducknish (talk) 18:26, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kushal Tandon, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Big Boss (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Hello, I'm Smsarmad. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Mubashir Luqman seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. SMS Talk 19:55, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Sanjay Dina Patil

Hello Tapan joshi. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Sanjay Dina Patil, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The reason given is not a valid speedy deletion criterion. Thank you. SoWhy 19:03, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Vani Vidhyalaya

[edit]

Hello Tapan joshi, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Vani Vidhyalaya to a proposed deletion tag. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow to protect the encyclopedia, and do not fit the page in question. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 06:47, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

further speedies

[edit]

You have been placing a large number of speedy deletion notices with reasons that do not apply:

  1. An article on a person of a given name who holds a given political office has full context: we know what it is about
  2. An article on a school of a given name in a given place similarly has context
  3. An article about a school that describes their facilities but also says how good it is is not hopeless promotional, for the promotionalism can be easily removed with normal editing
  4. An article with information in an infobox sufficient to be rewritten as an article has content.
  5. We do not speedy delete for being unreferenced.

Additionally, when you place a deletion notice of any kind, you have to say so in the edit summary. It's a definite requirement.

Please read WP:CSD and WP:Deletion policy before you tag any more articles for deletion. DGG ( talk ) 16:00, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Stickee. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Ankit Fadia, but that you didn’t support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Stickee (talk) 09:06, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
