A tag has been placed on your user page, User:TaniaWalker, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... with my apologies, I just filled in the page like a typical bio, and didn’t realise this was against Wikipedia policies for user pages. I’m relatively new here and trying to act in good faith. Have now edited page to hopefully solve the issue - please let me know if this is okay or if I ought to strip it back to nothing. Thank you. --TaniaWalker (talk) 13:14, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:TaniaWalker, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=TaniaWalker|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 14:09, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you for being more specific, I understand now. I’ve taken freelance editing work in the past but am no longer working for those clients. Do I need to list all past clients regardless, and should I use the templare you provided once per each past client? Or can I list them by repeating that part of the tag, eg: “|client=clientname1|client=clientname2|“ etc.

Please let me know and I’ll make that edit (please also let me know when it’s okay for me to go ahead and make that edit :) ). Thanks! TaniaWalker (talk) 15:24, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You will need to disclose all the articles that you have edited for payment, and NOT edit them further, you may request changes on the talk pages only. The Terms of Use prohibit engaging in deceptive activities, including misrepresentation of affiliation, impersonation, and fraud. As part of these obligations, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. You must make that disclosure in at least one of the following ways:

a statement on your user page, a statement on the talk page accompanying any paid contributions, or a statement in the edit summary accompanying any paid contributions. More details here Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. Theroadislong (talk) 16:00, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, I understand and will make that change this morning. As per my last comment I just wanted to check how to format the requested tag on my userpage - but I’ll just go ahead and try it and see what works. Thanks! TaniaWalker (talk) 21:32, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
