Speedy deletion nomination of Battle of Diablo Range
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Battle of Diablo Range requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://somosprimos.com/sp2017/spfeb17/spfeb17.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disambiguation link notification for September 22
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2nd California Cavalry Regiment, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Downieville. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

User-Created Flag Images
[edit]If you're going to keep adding images of California flags you're creating yourself, you need to make it VERY clear that they are images you created. You're not doing that currently, and a reader might mistake one of those for an actual picture of a flag. It might be better if you didn't add them at all, since we don't know how accurate they are (newspaper descriptions from the 1860s aren't always the most accurate guides). Intothatdarkness 17:14, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- ok I will label them as a "digital reconstruction" and they are also from newspaper accounts thanks for telling me Tablelegs6 (talk) 19:40, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- I know they're based on newspaper accounts, but the key word is "based." We don't actually know what they might have looked like. Intothatdarkness 01:09, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Tablelegs6. I have to agree with the concerns expressed above. Digital recreations of historical items, symbols &c. are pretty dicey. IMO they violate at least the spirit of WP:NOR. Going forward I would refrain from adding them. If you have one that you think would pass muster for its accuracy and you believe it really would significantly improve the article's quality, please seek consensus on the relevant talk page before proceeding. Thank you for your many contributions to the project. Wishing you and yours a blessed feast... -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:34, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

- Tablelegs6 In line with the previous posts in this section, I wanted to let you know that I have reverted 2 of your digital reconstructions of flags. I admire your zeal and don't want to discourage your editing here at Wikipedia, but the various images that you are creating are your interpretations of written text, and so they are against the Wikipedia guideline of no original research. - Shearonink (talk) 23:03, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
