Speedy deletion nomination of HHHH
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on HHHH requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Iraag (talk) 15:01, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Your upload of File:Campari tomatoes.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

An exciting month of wiki events!
Hello there,
I am pleased to say that April will be a very exciting month for Wikipedia in Washington, DC. We have a lot of different events coming up, so you will have a lot to choose from.
First, a reminder that our second annual Women in the Arts Edit-a-Thon will take place on Sunday, March 30 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
Coming up in April, we have our first-ever Open Government WikiHack with the Sunlight Foundation on April 5–6! We are working together to use open government data to improve the Wikimedia projects, and we would love your help. All are welcome, regardless of coding or editing experience. We will also be having a happy hour the day before, with refreshments courtesy of the Sunlight Foundation.
On Friday, April 11 we are having our first edit-a-thon ever with the Library of Congress. The Africa Collection Edit-a-Thon will focus on the Library's African and Middle East Reading Room. It'll be early in the morning, but it's especially worth it if you're interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of African topics.
The following day, we are having our second annual Wiki Loves Capitol Hill training. We will discuss policy issues relevant to Wikimedia and plan for our day of outreach to Congressional staffers that will take place during the following week.
There are other meetups in the works, so be sure to check our meetup page with the latest. I hope to see you at some of these events!
All the best,
James Hare

Disambiguation link notification for April 21
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Rotating locomotion in living systems, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Motor (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I have declined your WP:CSD#G4 speedy, because this version is not "sufficiently identical and unimproved" compared to the one deleted at the last (2nd) AFD. That one just stated the principle, with a single reference to their source; this one has considerable commentary and a number of references (though two of the online ones are deadlinks). Consider a (third) AfD, if you like; I have not checked it enough to give an opinion on whether it would pass. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:16, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Wikimedia DC invites revolutionaries, free thinkers, and other sundry editors to a DC WikiSalon
The WikiSalon is a special meetup usually held during the first and third full weeks of every month, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's an informal gathering of Wikimedia enthusiasts, who come together to discuss Wikimedia wikis and collaboratively edit. There's no set agenda, and guests are welcome to recommend articles for the group to edit or edit on their own.
If you're coming by Metro, the closest station is Dupont Circle (on the Red Line). If you're driving, a lot of parking opens up downtown after 6:30 PM, so finding a parking space (even a free one) should be easy. Once you've found the building, go to Cove on the second floor. We will be in the conference room.
When: Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: The Cove, Dupont Circle, 1730 Connecticut Avenue NW, 2nd floor, 20009, DC

Speedy deletion declined: Hindu Purohit Sangh NGO
Hello Swpb. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Hindu Purohit Sangh NGO, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: this is about an organization, not a duplicate of "Hindu priest". Needs refs, may or may not be notable. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 14:00, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Just got your reccomendation on speedy deletion for Nickk dropkick, its my first article, but Im basically editing the sections on transgressive art currently, and hoping to add more artists I enjoy in the genre. I felt he was significant enough because I enjoy him, and read about him in a few magazines, like Insomnia, as well as my local paper (the imprint). I really do enjoy his art when I get to see it, and cited his main site a few times to get information I was missing past seeing his art online and in magazines. How could I make the article better? My Contribution
Hey Swpb, thank you for your feedback, but I really did my best to make this contribution not look like advertising or something else. I did my best to input all necessary sources. if you compeare my contribution to similar trading tools eG (multicharts, eg metatrader) you will see its almost the same structure. I really would love to make a good contribution regarding this topic. can you please send me suggestions how to do it better? sincerely Achilles25 (talk) 21:28, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Unreviewing
Hi Swbp,
My understanding of reviewing pages was that when nominating them for either WP:SPEEDY or WP:PROD the page should be marked as reviewed, I have been admonished for not doing so previously, could you point me in the direction of some policy on this as im getting mixed messages at present. Amortias (T)(C) 19:00, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Muckgers deletion
Thanks for the heads up on the nomination for deletion. I've reviewed the entry again and added additional comments on the entry's talk page. Should you get the chance to review, I'm sure you'll find my summary of the organization's significance adequate. If not, I'd like to hear what might be done to improve the entry further. Simongalperin (talk) 20:36, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, you've done nothing to further indicate the significance of the organization, and there is nothing at all on the talk page. What you need to do is add reliable sources (if these exist) that show that this organization has had some impact or recognition beyond a few passing mentions on minor news sites. As it stands now, the article does not support the idea that the organization is sufficiently notable to merit an article. Since you removed the proposed deletion tag, I am initiating the more formal deletion process. —Swpbtalk 20:45, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Cincopa Page
Hello I have noticed that Cincopa value was automatically deleted from Wikipedia. Based on the deletion page it seems that the value was deleted based on historical from 2009 (5 years ago) conversation and not based on the current content and sources. I can understand the reasons for discussion made 5 years ago, when the page probably seemed to look as advertising, but a lot of things changed since then. The company has grown and has hundreds of thousands of users. Similar companies are described in Wikipedia such as ( Wistia, Viddler , Vzaar and more). Wikipedia provides its users a "Comparison of video hosting services" and it seems fair to provide the users as much information as there is and not to deny the information because of some discussion which happened 5 years ago. The current lately deleted page did not had advertising content, it was re-written based on guidelines to have encyclopedic content, just to provide info to the users. Please reconsider the deletion based on content and sources and not based on history. I wrote here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Cincopa but didn't get any reply yet Best Regards Irina1953 (talk) 14:07, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Shingle
Whilst I applaud your conversion of Shingle to a disambiguation page, I think the meaning of "a mass of small stones" has escaped the process. Shingle beach is merely a descriptive, just like "sandy beach". To give an example of usage, from a comic poem by W. S. Gilbert [[1]]:
On Peter's portion oysters grew--a delicacy rare,
But oysters were a delicacy Peter couldn't bear.
On Somers' side was turtle, on the shingle lying thick,
Which Somers couldn't eat, because it always made him sick.
Or look at this advert [[2]] for people selling shingle.
Alternatively, usage in this description[[3]] of a landscape created by shingle (it is an amazing place if you ever get to go there).
Anyway,to get to the point, I feel the DAB has no-where to point this particular meaning - unless the page Shingle beach is amended to fulfill this role. Any thoughts on this?ThoughtIdRetired (talk) 20:16, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your remarks. I'm not sure I have necessarily made my point clearly. Prior to your edits, if a Wikipedia user looked up "shingle", one of the meanings shown was the one I have discussed. That is no longer the case. The cause of the problem is that there is no proper article to which to direct the reader from the DAB page. I note that shingle is a rare but important coastal habitat that is often overlooked. Unfortunately, without a lot of homework, I don't think I have the resources to write such an article. A further problem is what such an article would be called. How could one request an article for creation without a name? (That may just be a rhetorical question.) It also highlights some of the problems generated by different versions of English.

Einar Björvin Sighvatsson
Hello there, First of all, i respect your work User:swpb and truly understand that you have concerns about my page Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson . I am a beginner here on wiki and the page about Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson is the first page that i have ever made in wikipedia. I see that you have deleted Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson as G10 but this page is not an Attack page. Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson is a teenager in Iceland that got into the spotlight only 3 days ago (11,4,2014) and therefor is a new topic here on wiki. I have shown Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson a big interest and wanted to write a wiki page about him.
I also see that you have marked Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson as a Sockpuppetry because it reappeared as Einar Blazit Sighvatsson (created by User:WhoDaMan2014 ) after you deleted mine. i personally do not know User:WhoDaMan2014 and have no idea who he is but it looks like he is writing about the same Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson. His site does not look professional and does not write about Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson as he is suppose to do.
I hope that you will show me understanding and restore my page but if you have any questions then i will gladly answer them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eythorg-1960 (talk • contribs) 00:18, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

That new and deletion-worthy article was already tagged for not satisfying notability for products, before you added a general notability tag. This seems like excessive tagging. Perhaps it needs a prod or AFD. What do you think? Regards. Edison (talk) 20:54, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
- My mistake - there were no tags when I loaded the page. I think a prod is in order, maybe after another half-day or so to give benefit of the doubt. —Swpbtalk 20:57, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for catching my mistake. I didn't notice that the page had been edited after I looked at it. Should've probably waited a few minutes before CSD tagging it. --Richard Yin (talk) 17:25, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'm kinda curious if this person existed. I'm not ready to tag it for deletion, but doing a casual search on Google turns up nothing. Do you have anything on the existence of this person?? --Hammersoft (talk) 17:28, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
- I can't find any reference to this person either at List of Chelsea F.C. players or on worldfootball.net [4]. Even misspellings. --Hammersoft (talk) 17:35, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
The article is tagged for deletion, and now appropriately so. While I search for evidence of notability for topics that interest me, I consider the burden of establishing plausible notability to lie with the article creator. —Swpbtalk 17:41, 19 November 2014 (UTC)

Teen Choice Awards; AfD Breakdown
I ran across your AfD here. Though I do agree with much of your baseline thoughts I'm inclined to redirect to the larger article as it doesn't meet general notability precedent when it comes to various awards we do often list candidates. Potentially more of note to you is Teen Choice Awards#Award categories which links a bounty of article clones of the current AfD discussion. You may want to handle them individually depending on the topic or notability of nominees (I won't pretend to know your ever motive here) or perhaps try a larger discussion on improved organization. Just wanted to make sure you were aware.

Proposed Deletion for 'Steep Turn'
Removed proposed deletion - Steep Turns are a concept taught to pilots across the globe! It is 'very well known' terminology across the aviation world. This proposal for deletion is as good as proposing 'Take Off' or 'Landing' for deletion. Not only has this article been worked and reworked quite a bit by various authors since its addition by me, but myself am a pilot and can state on 'full authority' the authenticity of a 'Steep Turn' as a manoeuvre published by ICAO. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Css1986 (talk • contribs) 19:24, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of GreenWood
Could you point me to some sort of guideline for how to indicate a subject is important or significant? Most of what I know about them comes from their own website and appearances of their associates on television, but relying on those sources exclusively tends towards promotion, which is what Wiki isn't. I'd like to track down some independent material and flesh out the article a bit, but I don't know what's available. I'd like to see an article on poverty reduction through introduction of low-carbon emission production, which would perhaps benefit from a reference to them, but I haven't found an existing article that seems particularly apt.
For what it's worth, I have no affiliation with GreenWood. I was curious about them and hoping to find good information in Wiki; having come up short, I wanted to leave some breadcrumbs to give the next person in a similar situation a head start.--Wcoole (talk) 01:54, 5 December 2014 (UTC) I see the delete happened and I'm basically OK with it, but disappointed in my hope that there would already be an article on a subject that seems notable and of interest to me. I'll probably need to write (or start) a broader-based article, perhaps Sustainable something-or-other, since Sustainable development is used to mean something rather differnt and put citations from GreenWood and other sources in it.--Wcoole (talk) 21:54, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Regarding Proposed deletion of List of Movies Screened in 7th Bengaluru International Film Festival 2014
Dear Swpb, The article is meant to help listing all the movies screened in the biggest international film festival happening in my city. This article also helps understanding and linking to specific Movies and learn quickly about their directors etc. Also note that the movies that gets screened have importance based on the subject, country, language, culture, heritage and more. Many times, we never get to find such movies having a reference page on wikipedia and I find this as an opportunity to build such pages as and when I find more time to do some research on them. Similarly, many other wikipedians might drop by and contribute as well. I will continue to try making this article more useful for wiki than just leaving it here as a list of movies. My another concern is that the international film festival websites get revamped every year and I never get to find the data related to movies screened in coming years and its a big loss. This page even addresses the need to retain such data. Hope I have tried my best to collate all the need for the article. Please guide me what else I could to better to improve this article instead of just nominating the page for deletion. Thank you very much taking time to review the article though. Omshivaprakash (talk) 07:53, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
I've declined your speedy for copyvio and removed the bot tag as well. The same text appears to be present at both pages, but the http://www.thefullwiki.org/Tricia_Stokes one cites the Wikipedia one as its source. It is also licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0, although I didn't see a mention of GFDL. Even though the bot tags it, it's as well to check as there a lot of mirrors (and some of them won't be in the bot's list of places not to bother with, assuming it has one). When a site copies but doesn't acknowledge is harder to detect. Often, you can look in History and trace the gradual progress of the Wikipedia article to the version in dispute. If there's a sudden jump in the text here to the current version, it's quite possible that it's a copyvio. If it's had a jump which then gradually evolves, it's likely to be an undeclared mirror at their end. If it's just gradual change over a period, it'll also be a mirror. DLD - Digital Logic Design
In your prod rationale of DLD - Digital Logic Design you said not a single independent source has a mention of this. Do you have access to the sources? I am fairly convinced you are right except for the Mano and Cletti book for which I have no access. This has been deleted multiple times and has failed an AFD. The only reason I have not deleted it outright is that this time an attempt has been made to provide sources, but given the "form" of this editor I am prepared to delete it if you can confirm that the sources fail verification. DLD - Digital Logic Design is a new educational tool to provide assistance in teaching those subject areas mentioned in the article. The references given in the article is related to the subject which were using some old tools to teach the subject. Those tools are either outdated or no longer supported on new platforms. The research paper related to this new tool is under review process in some research journal and, as in most cases, will take around 1-2 year to come in print. I have included this article to provide a resource for the students and teaching community which is looking for new tool for the purposes and come to wiki for this purpose and found outdated software links on this prestigious site. Removal of IDR Solutions page
Sorry to find that you considered the page for IDR Solutions to be inappropriate. They're a long established software company in the UK, the founder is well regarded in the Java community and on the speaker circuit, and IMHO (which being a long standing WP editor is no less valid or worthy than yours (again IMHO)), they are a good fit for several categories including the software companies in the UK one; WP is foremost a research tool, and people use that category for locating interesting companies to work for, as I know from hiring successful persons within my own organsation who have used that very route.
For the avoidance of doubt, I've no personal interest in whether the article exists or not other than not wishing to be wasting the precious time that I choose to donate to enhancing Wikipedia, and I'm not associated with IDR in any way other than meeting the founder recently at Google DevFest in Turkey where we were both speakers, and where I expressed surprise that they did not already have an entry. WP is certainly not for advertising or self promotion, and it's one of my own pet peeves to find listings abused for this purpose. Having researched their details, the proposed article took a neutral and unbiased stance without self promotion, no direct product references (though such content arguably should be included as relevant) and with appropriate category listings. The content was short which is not unusual for a new article, and I would say was no less appropriate than other software company pages of minimal size such as https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/E-Tabs, which is a somewhat worse entry having no company information box.
The UK has a tradition and culture of small software companies, and with most new companies failing within the first year or two, in surviving for over a decade and being precisely the type of company that forms the very bedrock of the UK's world dominance in the software arena, IDR very much merits being included in my opinion. As you obviously disagree then for educational purposes perhaps you could do the reader the courtesy of saying why, and come up with your own entry for IDR based on your personal view of what the page and others of their ilk should contain. Moggie2002 (talk) 13:33, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
- Moggie2002, I don't deny your long standing as a WP editor. It's unfortunate that your article trod the same path as User:Markee174's deleted version. User:Swpb found the same faults with your version that I found with User:Markee174's last month. Neither of you provided any evidence of notability. How about some independent sources? You know, the stuff a long standing WP editor knows to include in an article so that it doesn't trigger a CSD. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not the yellow pages. Both you and User:Markee174 argue that other companies have gotten away with it. As I replied to him last month, if you believe that the E-Tabs article or any other article contravenes the rules then, for the good of Wikipedia, nominate them for deletion.
- Swpb, apologies that a question I posed at User talk:Moggie2002#Speedy deletion nomination of IDR Solutions flowed over onto your talk page. Bazj (talk) 14:50, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

They're also members of the PDF association [1], they regularly contribute at conferences including PDF Days Europe[2], iText Summit[3], JavaOne[4], Business of Software[5] and Devfest Istanbul[6], where they are also a partner[7].
