Possible to remove Chinese translation?

Since Genshin Impact is from mainland China, is it possible to remove the Chinese translations for the non-Chinese characters? It sounds okay to me. Guyrichtheman (talk) 12:47, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Remove what? You mean the "(Chinese: 胡桃)" in "Hu Tao (Chinese: 胡桃) is a playable character..."? For non-Chinese characters, certainly. If they are Japanese characters, then maybe you should consider adding Japanese names instead. Supergrey1 (talk) 12:53, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
Ok then, thanks. Guyrichtheman (talk) 12:54, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

You got it all wrong. I wasn't attacking, threatening or disparaging the subject. I just want to remove the translation because it is not translating at all. Guyrichtheman (talk) 06:48, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
They are vandalism-only accounts. Don't worry about them. Supergrey1 (talk) 10:45, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Sockpuppeting?

I’d like to know why you accused me of sockpuppet vandalism on Talk:Honkai: Star Rail. Maybe you got me confused with the vandal before? Anyways I don’t appreciate being branded as a vandal and having my edit reverted instead of the vandal’s edit above it. No hostility, maybe it was an error. Despressso (talk) 18:20, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Sorry to cause your confusion. The gadget I used to revert edits (Ultraviolet) seems to have more bugs than I thought. I meant to revert to the version before that sockpuppeter edited, and it happened to revert only the last edit instead. It was a careless mistake, and I sincerely apologize if your feelings are hurt. Supergrey1 (talk) 07:45, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
The sockpuppeters are rampant in the past few days, and they are mostly ja:LTA:GNSN's work (or some parody, IDK). If you see such edits, the best way is to just ignore and revert them till they eventually get tired and stop. Supergrey1 (talk) 07:52, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Reliability of a Chinese source? (Sohu)

Hi, I'm currently doing non-English source searching for more Genshin Impact characters. When I was searching for Venti in particular, I came across this article from Sohu However, that isn't a vetted source on the English Wikipedia, and I can't check the Chinese wiki for what sources it considers reliable. Has Sohu been discussed, and is it a reliable source if so? λ NegativeMP1 00:08, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Sohu is a comprehensive news portal akin to Yahoo! News, hosting content from numerous news agencies, journalists, and writers. So, it's recommended to assess the credibility of the individual author instead. The article in question is authored by ACG Dimensional Fan (ACG次元饭), a subsidiary of Game Daily (遊戲日報). According to zh:WP:VG/S, Game Daily is categorized as a "Situational" source: "The content of Game Daily is considered to be marginally reliable, and should be replaced with a higher-quality source where possible." So I guess citing that is fine, but not recommended for establishing notability. Supergrey1 (talk) 04:59, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
Got it, thanks for the help! λ NegativeMP1 05:21, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Honkai: Star Rail's inclusion of a pejorative for a race

Hello, thank you for referring to my edit as good faith and giving benefit of the doubt and letting me know that TikTok doesnt count as a source. However, the translation still applies as the planet is officially referred to as 茨冈尼亚 . 茨冈 still reads as the loanword . without the TikTok here I believe the mention of this should still appear on the page, as the casual use of a pejorative with no explanation provided by the producers is odd. Can I suggest amending a questionable content tab on the Honkai: Star Rail page, and putting this information down there? GhoulishLantern (talk) 00:04, 30 October 2024 (UTC)

While I'm glad you take time to teach me some Chinese knowledge (really appreciate it!), the point is that, as stated on WP:RS, "Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published sources... If no reliable sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article on it." That is, if a reliable source (often, articles from credible gaming news reporters) states an idea, a statement, a point of view, etc. on this topic, we can cover them faithfully. If no reliable source can be found on the topic (often referred to as "original research"), then it shall not be covered on Wikipedia -- otherwise, Wikipedia would be no difference to a conspiracy warehouse like Twitter. Suggestion: You could focus on finding reliable sources listed on WP:VG/S, and see if they happen to have covered this topic. If so, cite them instead of TikTok. SuperGrey (talk) 05:05, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
thank you, I'll wait until a reliable source can properly write about it. I appreciate your clarification! GhoulishLantern (talk) 15:46, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
